First let me say this company has one of the most organized onboarding processes I have ever been through. Don’t expect to have any work life balance you get no breaks. Lunch is 30min. Affordable benefits with HSA. However as a back office medical assistant be prepared to be overworked, underpaid and overlooked. Schedules are often 24-30 patients you do have to access ports and one MA per provider with the overall mindset that only that one MA can work patients from their scheduled providers, no help. They do employ RN’s so not only are you the Doctors assistants the RN’s also think your theirs as well. Often times while working your schedule they will ask you to wheelchair patients down stairs give shots etc. but it will never be the other way around because they won’t help you at all. They have RNs answering patient phone calls on the floor which can get frustrating especially when they can be helping pulling patients back into the room. The patient clientele is rude, many of times I have patients threatening me in regards to accessing their ports with nothing done to the patient. Patients often question your education and experience. The nurses there get a lot of praise while the MAs are often looked over. MAs also have to do FMLA forms with little to no training on those forms. No over time pay. Management often floated individuals from smaller clinics to work at other locations regardless of the amount of patients on the schedule. Often times MAs will be running around for the first 3-4hours with not time to sit down. Mentally the role of back office MA really takes a toll on you it makes you feel like you are not really appreciated by leads, and managers. Most days I went home feeling overwhelmed and overworked and I dreaded coming to work. I found out the RNs get a raise after their 90days and The front desk staff gets paid way more. Don’t expect to work hard and have someone notice because they will not nor will you be compensated. One of my coworkers reached her 1 year mark and was supposed to get an “annual raise” her salary was raised only by .50cent. As a medical assistant to be told verbally your appreciated but not enough to be compensated. They pay for milage but it won’t even be enough to fill your tank up for the trip. The times I travelled I never got to leave early at all. I never got help while at another location. The Culture there is pretty much everyone for themselves you accessed ports do shots and have to catch the shot scheduled on top of that, while being stopped to push patients in wheelchairs, gives shot for patient in the infusion rooms for the RNs, and possibly draw blood for a patient who’s port is not working. I met some amazing people there but I was so miserable. 

Working at Piedmont Cancer Institute was one of the most disheartening experiences of not just my HR career, but my entire 20+ year career. If you don’t “fit in” with certain cliques or personalities in leadership, be prepared! The environment often felt more like a toxic high school than a professional workplace. I encountered a lot of negativity, all under the guise of a supportive, "family-like" culture. The reality is if you're not aligned with the dominant personalities in management like I wasn't, opportunities for growth and support become virtually nonexistent. Worse, some members of management actively collaborate to discredit employees they personally dislike. It's not uncommon for one manager’s opinion to spark a coordinated effort to tarnish your reputation, regardless of your work ethic or contributions which happened to me. This creates an atmosphere where people are afraid to speak up or be themselves. If you're considering a role here, ask hard questions about development opportunities and how grievances are handled, but honestly I'd say if you value professional integrity, fairness, and career development, look elsewhere.


Working at this company has been a truly enjoyable and rewarding experience. The workplace culture is positive and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and supporting one another. The management is supportive and approachable, always willing to listen to feedback and provide guidance when needed. 

The work itself is engaging and challenging, with plenty of opportunities for learning and professional growth. I have been able to develop new skills and expand my knowledge in my field, thanks to the ongoing training and development opportunities provided by the company.

One of the things I appreciate most about this workplace is the emphasis on work-life balance. The company values its employees' well-being and encourages us to take time off when needed to recharge and take care of ourselves. This has helped me feel more energized and focused when I am at work.

Overall, I would highly recommend this company as a place to work. The positive and productive atmosphere, along with the supportive management and opportunities for growth, make it a fantastic place to build a career. 


I worked for this practice for over 5 years. In the early days of my time there I truly felt like it was the best oncology practice in Atlanta. The management was fair to the employees, the work atmosphere was family like, and the job was the best job I've ever had as a nurse. Then the clinical manager left and the practice struggled for a few years trying to find someone that would fit the job. They ended up putting a nurse practitioner that has been with the company for many years in the role. It has been a revolving door of employees ever since. This clinical micromanager doesn't know how to delegate responsibilities and has taken on everything. In the process over 20 nurses have quit (or been run-off) in the past 2 and a half years. Also three HR managers, several pharmacist, many high quality mid-levels, at least 15 Medical Assistants and countless office staff. The pay is far below the industry standards, medical benefits are expensive and the PTO structure is substandard as well. Do yourself a favor and don't even consider working here. It's not a good place to work.

I'm no newbie to the medical field and the tasks that come with it. In my opinion, this is one of the best companies I have worked for. majority of the staff is very nice and welcoming and the management team goes above and beyond. I have worked in Ortho where the Doctors feel very cold and have a "don't approach me" attitude, but not here. The Doctors are very focused, but are very nice and willing to help in any way they can. I have definitely learned a lot working here and even after a year there is always something new that pops up. If you're looking for a challenge but also love what you do, PCI is the place for you.

This is by far the BEST company I have ever worked for. Upper management truly cares for each employee and strives to ensure that we are provided with every opportunity to grow. The workplace culture is enriching. The team morale is amazing and everyone lends a helping hand with a smile on their face. The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to provide care to some of the most humble and gracious human beings you will ever encounter. As with any place of employment, there are times that aren't particularly easy. However, working with such a wonderful and caring group of physicians, mid levels, managers and nurses even the hardest parts are easier managed. Piedmont Cancer Instant is an excellent place to work. If you want to have happiness with your career as well as opportunities to grow, PCI is the place for you!

I float between triage and infusion daily and occasionally I mix the chemotherapy when necessary. I have been employed there for 9 years and I have been crossed trained  As MA and pharmacy tech all while getting my nursing degree. Management is very good at allowing you to obtain knowledge in all areas if desired and they are easy to work with and they listen to your concerns. My co-workers and I work as a team to get the job one in a safe and timely manner. We all know each others strengths and weaknesses and help each other out when necessary without complaint. The hardest part of the job is seeing your favorite patient progress through treatment with an unfavorable outcome. I enjoy learning from the physicians the most. They are very approachable and very willing to answer any questions you have, and they enjoy doing so.

The past four years with PCI have been educational and beneficial for me. A heavy workload that was fortunately combined with some great people and good laughs, at times. 
Every day is an opportunity to learn something new. Ever evolving laws partly help fuel that mentality. 
The most enjoyable part of my position was the friends i gained along the way and the perspectives they had on certain issues, which helped me to expand my mind and see things from different points of view. This was helpful to me in my position, particularly when responding to staff. 
The amount of politics throughout the office grew significantly after we acquired another group, however, I'm sure in time that will subside. No experience goes without being taught valuable lessons, so I'm thankful for all the changes over the years.

Extremely high turnovers. Most of the Rns here are rude and more importantly micromanagement along with poor communication. 30 min lunch breaks u are just a number there and will be replaced. No value of employees and money is primary focus. It didn’t take long for me to realize it was not for me and I excused myself. If u are not in dire need of money don’t come here and if u love sitting it Atlanta Traffic for hours then go ahead. Also not veteran friendly and your personal health is secondary to them !! If they hire u for one office chances are it’s a lie they’ll keep you in another one due to high turnovers! And sadly my trainers have only been there a few months as well. A serious red flag 🚩
