Inventory control of vaccines, preparation of vaccines, administration and education of patients.  Covid testing, patient care. Clinic has some smart and dedicated personnel who are discouraged daily by the hostile & inept work culture despite repeated complaints to management.  Unsafe practice regarding patient care with specific employees is not followed up on. When management was aware, they made excuses including they did not witness it, despite clear factual evidence to the contrary.  Coming in late or no show is common among ancillary staff who are not held accountable. This made extra work for others and contributed to a stressful work environment. Employees who were responsible and industrious were not recognized and if they verbalized concerns were often retaliated and punished by the other employees with more work or isolated. Management was aware & allowed this type of bullying and ostracism to occur and did not have strong ethic leadership qualities.  Patient care and education was the most satisfying part of the job.  In short, employees were not respected, heard or valued for their input. Favoritism & nepotism were rampant which contributed to this toxic culture.  The organization suffered from failures & inefficiencies due to poor norms, expectations, & morale. 

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working at Pillars. I came from a very toxic work environment with poor leadership, and this has been a refreshing change of pace. I am allowed to run my groups how I see fit, present the content that I feel is beneficial, and feel as though I am actually helping clients recover. Counselors basically make their own schedules and place people in the groups that they see fit (we are doing the assessments). It's a pain trying to acquire clients' financial information to complete the assessments, but that's just part of it. I work most of the time in Hickory Hills, and also run two groups in LaGrange Park during the week. I am compensated for the mileage and my pay is an upgrade from where I started. It's really been a great experience. 

I loved working for the population especially in this political climate. It made me really appreciate supporting my community and guiding them through such a difficult time. On the other hand, there is a tremendous amount of lack of guidance and support from management. Especially given the opportunity to try a different role I expected a bit more guidance to learn it. I utilized all their avenues to seek for help and training and still did not get clear instructions. It felt like no one really knew how to do their job on managing other staff. if you want to go for the experience great, but if you're looking for guidance or focus on personal growth it might not be the best fit.

Working at Pillars Community Health helped me realize passions I didn't know I had for serving my community and helping improve access to health care. During my time there as an outpatient level clinician, I was able to learn from my coworkers regarding different treatment styles/approaches while experiencing lots of exposure to a diverse population of clients. The culture was relaxed, although hard-working, and encouraging. I was able to collaborate with school counselors, doctors and psychiatrists on many cases. The work load was intense and there was a lot of paperwork, but helping underserved communities made it worth it!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Being able to take the valuable trainings that were critical to properly assist the clients that were in crisis.

Knowing when you get that call that your actions could very well change the trajectory of someone's life.

Present, calming  with staff as well as Supervisor's ready to assist you in the learning process at anytime.

Quiet, open space, and able to be yourself in a no judgement zone.

Benefits and location are a good things to work at this company 
Patients are also good experience and good experience for me during my time there

The supervisor was a person very harmful for me. She doesn’t have a good sense of helping and wisdom to keep a good relationship of staff

Environment was the worst it was a toxic environment unfortunately was my worst experience that I have had

I have been at Pillars for six years, and the last eight months have been quite a rollercoaster. Everything has changed significantly; now each clinician feels micromanaged and unsupported when we discuss our stress. While the hybrid work flexibility is a plus, the pay leaves much to be desired. Communication is crucial, yet it often feels lacking at Pillars. The OP group is usually out of the loop until changes are made, leaving us with little notice. Unfortunately, management at this center has been unstable, and only a few supervisors are truly supportive.



Company leads prioritize money over people all the time. We were one of the last places to get ok to work from home-they only did it cause Pritzker was about to make almost everyone do it b/c of coronavirus. Management doesn’t care. Salary is barely enough to live on in this area. Clinicians are constantly pushed to take on more clients so organization can bring in more money. We don’t have time to plan for sessions! And we are shamed all the time when we don’t bring in enough money or god forbid your sick! Really disappointing.

Pillars Community Health was a great place for me to learn about therapy, underserved communities, and navigating health systems. They were very supportive and I had many opportunities to learn from my coworkers in a collaborative way. I wish I took better care of myself during my time there. There was always a lot of work to do and it never seemed to be enough. But the supervision and people were great. 

I been working here over a year. I learned how to use Concur which manages the expenses and payables. Workplace culture is pretty good. Not much people in the office. Everyone is WFH or meeting with clients.
