​I worked at this company for several years and am writing this review to provide insight into my experience. While the business concept has potential, my time here was marked by significant operational and cultural challenges that prospective employees should be aware of.
​Leadership and Management
​
The primary challenge I observed was a gap in relevant experience within the senior leadership team. Many strategic decisions appeared to be disconnected from the day-to-day realities of clinical operations, contributing to a sense of instability. The management style I experienced was often inconsistent; for example, while leadership stated a desire to avoid formal "write-ups," the threat of them was sometimes used as a tool for managing performance on minor issues, which created an anxious atmosphere. Furthermore, I observed unprofessional communication, which undermined team morale.

Business Model and Stability
​From my perspective, the business strategy seemed to prioritize short-term acquisition over long-term sustainability. A key issue was the failure to retain patient loyalty after acquiring practices, as many patients were connected to the original dentists. This led to a high rate of staff turnover and frequent organizational changes, creating uncertainty about the company's future direction. This short-term focus also meant that opportunities for genuine career growth and advancement felt extremely limited.

Company Culture and Employee Experience
​The work environment was often stressful and morale was generally low. It was common for management to react to patient complaints by blaming staff, rather than addressing systemic issues. I also observed a pattern where experienced employees from newly acquired practices, who had higher salaries, would leave the company and be replaced by less-experienced staff. This constant churn contributed to the feeling that long-term employee investment was not a priority.

​Compensation and Benefits
​The compensation package was not competitive with industry standards, largely due to a lack of key benefits. During my employment, the company did not offer:
​Holiday pay
​Annual or Christmas bonuses
​Payout of unused PTO upon separation

When I came to Plum I was looking for something different that was less of the "corporate" environment I was in at that time and felt like a place to grow and learn more in a new field. Right away I encountered some amazing people who were not only intelligent, talented, and creative but also so welcoming, approachable, and likable. I didn't come in with advanced dental knowledge like many of our clinical team members, but I've already learned so much in a few short years and there's still room to grow and learn more as my career continues here. Our culture is great and gets better and better as we grow the team and meet new people at team events and through everyday collaboration. We work hard, but there's still flexibility and a sense that work-life balance really matters. I look forward to growing more with the Plum family.

I started work with Plum several years ago and can honestly say that this has been by far the best working environment I’ve ever had as a dentist.  I feel supported by the other team members and they make my job much easier than it ever was before I started working with them.  Even with all the support they over, I am free to practice dentistry the way I want to practice and have never once felt pressured.  In fact their focus has always been on patient wellbeing first and foremost.  It really has been like being part of a family.  I would recommend Plum highly to any dentist or other employee. It has been a wonderful working experience since day 1.   They have a commitment to continuing education, cutting edge technology, and patient care.  

No benefits At all , the pay is not the best and the schedule is all over the place  , you will never have a set schedule and the other employees are not reliable so a lot of coverage from your part will be expected,whenever they call out or leave early which is a lot of times . No growth or opportunities . No holiday bonus and if the office doesn't meet the monthly goal there is no monthly bonus either which is practically always because the goal is not realistic . The Doctor will make "verbal " agreements with you when hired but will not follow through and will not give you anything in writing for his sake and he will back down from the agreements you made when first hired . A hole lot will be expected from you but you will not be valued or appreciated .

I started working for Plum Dental in February 2022 after leaving private practice since 1990.  I cannot say enough good things about where I currently work.  The support is amazing. From the other employees, the office manager to the entire management staff... they all support one another with true teamwork.  I genuinely love coming to work.  We have had several "get togethers" with the entire company since I have come on board.  There have been cookouts, social gatherings at a local brewery and at our own office we have frequent social events of our own.  I feel more supported with Plum than I did in my previous years working for a solo practitioner run practice.  When we meet at social gatherings everyone mingles and talks - the management is always approachable and easy to talk to.  I 100% recommend Plum Dental Group!

I used to think I did not love being a hygienist but it turns out I just worked for the wrong places in the past. I have worked as a hygienist in several of the plum offices around RI and I truly have never worked in such a fun, supportive, and relaxed atmosphere. The dentists are great people who truly care about the patients wellbeing and the company does a great job supporting their employees offering competitive pay, great benefits, and flexible hours. I have never felt pressured to sell or recommend any treatment that I did not feel the patient truly needs. They hold several events a year to show their appreciation for the employees and have opportunities for growth and movement within the company. 

Its refreshing to work with a group of people that are trying to get it right. They care just as much as they do for their patients as they do for their team members. Nobody is perfect but Plum strives to get better year after year. Owners/Upper level Executive team are approachable and listen to feedback. Each dental office maintains its family friendly feel, Plum provides the support that dental offices need to be successful. I would highly recommend working with Plum. 

Working for Plum Dental has been nothing but a positive experience!  Our schedule has stayed the same as with out previous employer and the flexibility is still available.  The fear of working for a larger company and the change that comes with that is completely no longer existent.  Everyone we have met so far and have had communication with have been so welcoming, understanding and easy to interact with!  Although we all had trepidation at first, just fear of the unknown, this has been nothing, but an amazing experience and we all look forward to continuing our careers and the future with Plum Dental!!

If you are looking for a place where you are nothing but a number, Plum Dental is for you. Low pay, laughable "benefits", and being treated like you are an unnecessary overhead cost because you are financial/admin staff and are not producing revenue. And the workload is completely unreasonable, you will be doing the work of at least two people. There is so much turnover in this department--no true accounting professional can tolerate working here for long.

I came to Plum Dental with no dental experience and I was completely trained not only on their EMR system, but also with a vast knowledge of dental information. I have been with the company for just about a year and have NEVER felt unsupported or on my own. There is always someone who is just a call or email away to help me when I have questions. The staff at all levels is a great crowd and make coming to work enjoyable. Everyone I work with is always willing to lend a hand even if it's not their job. My manager is great to communicate with and is always positive no matter what!
