I have very much enjoyed my 2.5 years at Positive Impact. A typical work-day is 9-5 but PIHC is very open to being flexible with hours if requested. I love my coworkers and think that management is generally supportive to the needs and requests of its employees. As a mental health/substance abuse counselor, the hardest part of the job is definitely the emotional toll this job takes on your spirit, but it is also the most rewarding part; as I have seen so many of my patient's lives change for the better, in whatever ways that looks like for them. PIHC offers a lot of financial 401k and medical benefits, and I have been very pleased with the amount of PTO given, as well as quarterly "self care days." I hope to rise up in this company. 

I've been employed here for a little over three years. The company cares for the staff just as much as they care about patients. Amazing culture. CEO and COO make it their mission to be welcoming and enjoyable. The company includes staff in decision-making and does its best to accommodate the team. There are a ton of growing pains because the agency is expanding rapidly, but where there's a will, there's a way and there's always a will at PIHC. The team works hard to navigate through the struggles so the patients will never know. These are also some of those most amazing people I have ever worked with in my life. 

I am currently therapist for mental health and substance abuse at this company. The staff culture is great, I feel like it is such a cohesive and supportive team. The client's we serve often come with unimaginable struggle and having a staff environment that supports you is vital, and that's what I have found here. I have so many opportunities for trainings and advancement. The benefits are incredible and as a newer clinician, the pay is certainly on the high end of what I could be paid for my role. 

The work you do is meaningful and their mission is admirable but they leave some things to be desired. Medical Case Managers are seriously over worked and expected to pick up the slack if other departments don't do their job. Management is also quick to discipline/fire people for things out of their control. Decatur location is very busy and has high volume of patients. I would only return if there is a serious change in leadership.

Decent company with standard nonprofit issues. Lots of overlap between jobs and non standard tasks handed out. Upper management is the biggest detractor since much of the day to day process can get bogged down by excessive micromanagement and red tape.

Front line employees and direct managers tend to be much better but there's only so much that can be done without a rubber-stamp from leadership.

very caring and professional and timely, the team leaders are very educated in there field.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day is filled with chaos and disorder.  In was able to get all my steps in.

Overall a great company, they do a lot for the community. However in the department I worked in. Management refused your input. Talked about you behind your back. Dismissed your concerns but had no issues with accommodating other employees. Micro -manager would stand behind you and watch you. Always short staffed, training was less than satisfactory. Very petty energies.

LGBTQ affirming organization that does good community work, can be fun and rewarding but it needs to increase pay to market standards and lead through collaboration, not through 1 or 2 positions. Also you can work with really distressed clients.
