I love my job. I have had the pleasure of working with the same client for almost 2 years. I work 12 hour shifts, 4 one week and 5 the opposite week. The position is very emotional at times, due to the condition of the patients that we work with, and it can also be very physical, depending on their ability to walk on their own or if they need total assistance with transfers and everyday care. The company has offered very little training on any client or their specific condition and how to meet their needs, we pretty much read limited information on the client and go from there with them. That is why I feel blessed to have the same client, I know the ins and outs of his care and daily schedule. I feel like we have very little support from the office staff though, most of the communication is via text message or through the telephonic system, so we rarely interact one on one with anyone in our office. As far as pay goes, I am still receiving the same salary that I was hired in making (before they knew my work ethic and commitment to my job), which is very disappointing. I feel that they should do reviews every 6 months or even a year and then give some type of compensation based on each persons individual performance. We also do not have any type of benefits (vacation, sick leave, insurance, etc) these would be very much appreciated by all of the employees. Other than that, I totally love what I do and the company I work for. It is a very rewarding job,  knowing that you make a difference in someone's life and that the care you provide makes their quality of life much more valuable. Unfortunately, I do not feel like there is any room for any advancement and I would love the chance to expand my knowledge and career options. I keep hoping that some things will change within the company and that it would be a place I could stay with long-term, into retirement, but benefits and pay raises are important because the price of living increases constantly and I need a position that can accommodate my needs and allow me to not just survive, but thrive. I am a hard worker and have the ability to become an important asset within a company that will allow me that opportunity.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It's a nice job to make company for the elderly listening to their story telling, either just chatting, company,  cooking meals, preparing coffee or tea, doing grocery shopping for them or with them and taking them for their doctor's appointment. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It's when client cancel the shift after I'm there at their house. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly, it depends on the client culture and environment. Most of my clients were very nice and polite, they appreciated my help and my company when they most needed.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Drive safely to their house clock in in the app on your phone detecting the  location. At their house get their shopping list their card, go to HEB follow strictly their list get everything that they wrote down. Go to Panda get their hot meal, bring them the grocery and hot meal, with the receipt and card, help put away groceries, clock out in the app. 
Sometimes clients go with us in our car for groceries, either way. 
Sometimes I help clients with their breakfast because they need help with the coffee machine so I prepare coffee pods in the Keurig and warm up cinnamon rolls in the microwave, then we watch the match games and  the price is right together, at lunch time I use the  microwave so I can warm up their lunch, which is just a can of soup to warm it up in the microwave it's that simple, just open the can pour the soup in a bowl and then put it  in the microwave. It's also my time to sit with my client on the table and have my sandwich and we enjoy our lunches together. I clean up the dishes, and sometimes I do the laundry which is using the washing machine and dryer.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I worked with this company as a CNA and This is an awesome company ,it’s a local family who loves what they do and go above and beyond for their clients. I would definitely recommend them as a family member in search for quality care and a a CNA who is looking for some hours.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
To be honest there wasn’t anything stressful, if there was an issue they where there as fast as they could get there

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is working in homes with clients it is Friendly, warm and welcoming The owners care about what your needs are and will go to all extent to try and meet your needs.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
There is travel to work , companionship with clients , helping client reach there everyday daily needs , some jobs your taking them to Doctors appointments, and grocery shopping , while some clients your helping to make them comfortable. Caregiving jobs are really never the same , each day you show up with a smile and see how you can make a difference

What is the best part of working at the company?
My sister and best friend worked there.  There is no holiday pay, No mileage 
or bonuses, sick time wasn't paid and  any kind overtime is mostly given  to one specific person who her friend and assistants . They noticed their pay checks didn't match what hours they worked.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The pay and no holiday pay.  I thought everyone had to pay major holidays even the smallest of places so.  Never heard you don't get paid holiday pay.  I guess this one was privately owned or runned and all other franchises of preferred Care had holiday pay, mileage and started off at 20 an hour.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment was good because it was in the client's homes.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Sometimes 4 hours a day to maybe 6:00 but not more than that usually and the distance between clients was pretty far and not getting paid mileage was just another expense the employees had to deal with.

*Hospital-to-Home, Transition Care: helping clients transition from hospital to home with getting prescriptions filled, medication directions, reminders to take medication, any follow-up appointments or phone calls.
*Companion Care: making sure clients are not lonely and are having fun engaging in activities such as playing cards, going to the movies, engaging in conversation, church, crafts or reminiscing about the past.
*Homemaker Care: taking care of the mundane day-to-day tasks for the clients and their families consisting of clipping coupons, grocery shopping, meal preparation, dusting, sweeping/vacuuming, laundry, assisting in pet care, and garbage removal.
*Personal Care: activities of daily living that may be complicated for some including eating, hygiene care (bathing, grooming, and shaving), dressing, toileting, continence care and transfer assists.
*Alzheimer’s Care, Line-In Care, End-of-Life Care, and Specialty Care that could consist of New Mom Care and Surgery Recovery Care.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Office staff is very kind and incouraging.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Making sure client needs match caregivers skills and waiting for the client match that works best for caregivers.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Caring and supportive mostly. However pressure to maintain clients who are very difficult are unrealisticly at times. One example is the 4 hr notice when calling in sick. A person doesn't always know they are too sick to work at 4 o'clock in the morning.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Matched with the client, help with clients grooming, cooking, cleaning and errands. I had Some duties that  are those of a CNA even though I'm not certified. Like transferring to wheelchair or changing briefs. This is common with such agencies.

The company is a very nice place for employment, and the boss is always very understanding, if we have to get overtime, such as if we had to go to the hospital with our clients. I learned that some elderly people think that they have nothing, but I always talked to them and made them feel better and let them know they are important to everybody, especially to their families. One of the clients/patient I had, was very depressed, and I always sat and watched whatever he/she wanted to watch. My co-workers are great to work with. The hardest part of the job was leaving them when you know they are still depressed. Most enjoyable part of my job is that I get to make them laugh and smile. I feel that my job is done well if I made he/she laugh or smile before I leave their houses.

What is the best part of working at the company?
None of my previous employers have shown me the recognition I deserve for my strong work ethic.  At PCAH, they acknowledge & reward your efforts.  They're very understanding & easy to talk to. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There's nothing stressful that is specific to this company.  Being a caregiver can be a stressful job in itself. PCAH helps to make the situation less stressful.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Healthy, rewarding, positive, supportive, helpful, empathetic. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I go to the client's house & provide in home care.  This includes housekeeping, preparing meals, emotional support, companionship, medication reminder, assist with mobility & much more.

Not the worse place but not the best place to work either. Most clients were amazing,a couple of them were unbearable. If I complained about how the client treated me,it was overlooked. If someone else made a complaint,they took action. If you're not in the clique or haven't been with the company for years,you're the underdog. Even if you've been a caregiver longer than the company has been around,your opinion or voice will never be heard. You'll notice the favoritism amongst the staff and clients. Columbia,TN is small,so everyone knows everyone and went to school together. Fair to say,they mix too many personal feelings with their business side of things and have a major turnaround in employees. Pay could be more too and pay your mileage as well.

A typical day at work consists of doing my job! There is no micromanaging. The owner has an open door policy. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the admin are kind and encouraging. The culture is INCLUSIVE. They do not see color.  The most difficult part of my job is securing a fit between clients and caregivers. If it isn't a scheduling issue, it's the fact that the client has a dog and the caregiver is allergic. This industry requires patience and this company has more than enough to go around. The most enjoyable aspect of my job is that I get to help the aging population stay in their home for as long as possible!
