Being a Care Manager has a lot of moving parts and requires focus and organization. If you don't have 100% of these qualities coming in, PCC gives everyone a ton of support and assistance to be able to be successful in their role. 

Management is always open to new ideas and ways to improve. The mental load of a Care Manager can be overwhelming for some, but the tools given to each employee at PCC is infinite. There are dedicated enrollment coordinators, a training & IT department, Senior Care Managers in each region, mentors, & staff dedicated to completing complicated processes as well as other tedious tasks ( SART completions, uploading of all documents & chasing down SAP & IPOPs). 

The caseloads given to CMs are incredibly manageable and there are regular training sessions as things change with OPWDD (as they always do). Additionally, the upper management directors and kind people, easy to approach and often give extra time off for a holiday weekend or "just because". Our area as themed potluck lunches, afterwork meet ups, an annual Halloween party and just recently a whole day at work dedicated to FUN! In addition to these informal activities, there are company-wide recognition awards for staff who continue to go above and beyond.

I previously worked at a non-profit organization and was apprehensive about coming to Prime Care, but I could not have made a better overall decision for myself and my family! I have met co-workers who have become family and beloved friends. I've referred 3 people to join me as co-workers and would recommend Prime Care to anyone with a strong work ethic and sense of dedication to people with Developmental Disabilities.

I would say that this job is great if you are not someone who suffers from mental illness. Is so, I do not recommend you working there, heavy workload, and in general lack of feeling accomplished. Nepotism is strife, and ever prevalent, a staff could easily get into trouble for some another staff did who got away with it. Which is funny as management “preaches self care” seriously, a day to let people go honestly early is not good enough when even that is not a guarantee. This company does not care about days off, you can bet your bottom dollar when you come back to piles of work will be waiting to be done. You will be told you are behind and get BLAMED. Everyone  is nice, but that’s because everyone is just as overworked/overwhelmed as you are. Except for upper management they treat you like you are just a cog in a machine except for like 3 managers who actually are worthy of the job. ARD’s, learn from those who actually have staff and not others. Also next time you wanna yell at a struggling staff member try to actually see their side. Instead of telling them to shut up and mind their own business. Maybe if you actually were nice to all of your staff members they would want to work for you. My coworkers would literally get in trouble for talking during their lunch break while others would not. Thats a sure fire was to drain moral when people are literally scared to to talk to you. My point? Find a better company then this walking talking hostile work environement,trust me there are better jobs.

This place is a complete Joke. Was with a previous agency for a while and then transitioned to Prime Care in July 2018. This organization is the MOST unorganized, unprofessional place i've ever had the displeasure of working at. Not only has there been MULTIPLE reports of supervisors and higher up's acting inappropriately, little has been done when these actions are reported. There is absolutely NO training and be prepared to rely a lot on your co-workers for answers. The trainings that are provided are a complete waste of time and they like to roll out policies whenever they feel like it. Something that was okay to do yesterday is no longer okay...but just wait a couple of weeks and it will probably be okay again. The families that the Care Manager's serve suffer so much due to the lack of knowledge from Care Manager's that they hire who are absolutely NOT qualified to be doing their job, and also due to the lack of organization or direction from the agency that is supposed to be supporting them. If you want to work with individuals with IDD/DD please do yourself a favor and DO NOT work for this company. It will ruin your perception and deter you from the wonderful and rewarding experience of working with this population.

I’d rate Prime care a 4 star and opwdd a 2 star. Management is kind and in general trust that you are doing your job. Training remotely was difficult, and I could have probably use more training to feel more confident in my role. There is a decent amount of time off, which I’ve never had trouble getting approved, but we have a lot on our plates as a care manager and sometimes it’s hard to take off because you can get behind. OPWDD Policies change  all the time and there is a lot on it plate as we assist families worth not just health care and waiver services but social services int eh community as well. I have more trouble with needing to jump through hoops with OPWDD and the Medicaid than with the agency. Management at prime care understands the scope of what we do and try to compensate us for it but the job is a lot of paper pushing. It’s also tough because a lot of our job is making referrals for waiver services, but there are very few openings. I can honestly say that Prime Care Coordination is the best place I have ever worked. From the moment I started, the work culture has been incredibly inviting and everyone is genuinely friendly.
There are several things that make this company stand out:
Management & Leadership: Management is supportive and helpful without being overbearing. It’s a rare balance to find, but they truly trust their employees. Our Regional Director is a wonderful leader and sets a great example for everyone to follow.
Flexibility: The work-life balance here is excellent. The flexibility offered makes managing professional and personal responsibilities much easier.
Culture & Engagement: The atmosphere is social and fun. We have monthly engagement activities, including frequent potlucks, which really helps build a strong sense of community.
Compensation: The pay and benefits are more than fair, especially considering the positive environment you get to work in every day.
If you are looking for a career where you feel valued and enjoy coming to work, I cannot recommend Prime Care Coordination enough.

Prime Care is, unfortunately, the most disorganized company I have ever worked for. Although it is only about a year and a half old, the disorganization continues to increase, and the communication between management and the staff is sub-par. Caseloads are at an uncomfortable number for seasoned Care Managers to keep up with, let alone new ones. There is no formal training. Emails will flow in at all hours of the night requesting documentation be completed ASAP. Once you complete that documentation be prepared to have it lost and then asked to be completed again as soon as possible --(a never-ending vicious cycle). The most depressing thing about working for this company is how overwhelm you become, not only because this place is toxic/negative but also because the service to the clients suffers, causing more and more unnecessary stress for the staff and the individual. This job not only effected my clients but my emotional and mental health. Lastly, there is no room for professional growth within this company. Instead of promoting from within, they will hire outside, and their reasoning has been you are not ready yet. They set you up for failure.

One of the worst places to work. If you choose to work here plan on not getting paid what you deserve, never getting overtime but always working more hours than you’re paid. Forget sleeping and your sanity. If you are of a different race prepare to not advance anywhere past care manager supervisor. Prepare to always get in trouble for things out of your control ie. ADP not loading, individuals/ family members not answering your calls. Prepare for the migraines and feeling like you are always walking on eggshells because what you are doing today will be wrong tomorrow. Prepare for multiple pointless mandatory trainings. Prepare for your supervisor or upper management to dump more work on you because they don’t know how to do it or they don’t want to do it. Prepare for your calls, emails and texts to not be answered by upper management or HR for that matter. Prepare to be backstab and felt incompetent of your job because that’s how you get ahead at this job. Prepare for frequent changes without notice and being told it’s your job. Prepare for your life to revolve around your caseload. Anyone prepared and ready apply and welcome!

The positive of this job is that it’s so flexible. You’re allowed to flex your hours and schedule your required meetings when you want for the most part. Most supervisors are very understanding and helpful and not micromanaging. People are also generally understanding when you have kids or family stuff going on and need to adjust work time for that. 
Otherwise though this job is a nightmare unfortunately. The caseloads are way too big and the workload is very high for the amount we get paid. Almost everybody has to do overtime because we don’t have enough workers and the turnover is constant. The only reason I’m still in this job is because I haven’t lined up something else yet. I love helping people with disabilities but I would not recommend this job to anyone due to the high stress, low pay, and everybody being overworked. To be fair OPWDD is the problem more than Prime Care is, they keep enrolling people for care coordination when we don’t have enough care managers for all the new enrollees. 

Being a care manager is not an easy job, we work with families and people with disabilities as well as providers to link people to the services they need. Prime Care Coordination is the best CCO in the area because they really have great leadership. The Care Manager Supervisors and Assistant Regional Directors really care and are very helpful. I recomend this job because right now the hardest part is that the team is short staffed and we need more care managers. If there were more people who care on board all the current staff would be able to focus on the things that inspire them about their jobs which is helping people with developmental and intellectual disabilities to get the services they need. We also get regular raises and bonuses. This is a great place to work!!!!

Honestly there is not a lot of stress unless you make it stressful. As long as you have good organizational skills, time management and a willingness to learn and understand, the company wants you and pushes for you to not get stressed out and to care for yourself. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is usually calm and quiet. Somedays you're one of the only ones in the office other days there’s more people here and it’s a good opportunity to collaborate and engage with other co-workers.
