The agents, managers, and District Managers are hard working and strive to meet sales goals, provide great customer service, and grow the business. On the surface, Pronto Corporate office and upper management has a great culture of providing all the tools needed to support the field. Stay hungry and grow the business mentality!

Now lets pull back some layers on the Pronto culture. Pronto is based in the Valley and has been around since the 1990s. They are expanding into the big cities such as Austin, San Antonio, and Houston. Reviews from the Valley area locations will be positive because the locations are well established and the size of them are 75k - 200k. Hence, a huge chunk of the agent's or manager's paycheck is bonus based on size of location. Cost of living is much lower in this area as well when compared to the big city.

The tool that is missing for Austin, San Antonio, and Houston is compensation. A new hire starts at only $7.50/hr. Once they get a limited lines license, the pay goes to only $8.25/hr. Once they get a P&C license, the pay goes to only $9/hr. Plus, the new hire pays for all licensing fees, study materials, and tests associated with it. Several problems: 1) The competition pays $10/hr., $12/hr., and $15/hr. respectively. When a fellow agent does get their license, they move on to the competition. and this results in high, high, high turnover. 2) The hourly pay has been the same since 1997. 3) the cost of living in the big city is higher than the valley 4) When a location does grow, the hourly pay only bumps up in 25 cent increments. 5) a long term employee is about 2-6 months. 6) Overall, the unlimited income philosophy is a joke on the payout.

Other funny issues: 1) Unlimited income potential philosophy is preached. Hmmm...a high bar has to be reached first, the hourly pay is 15 years old, the competition pays more, lots of out-of-pocket expenses, high turnover. 2) Corporate loves spying on agents and locations on the cameras and reprimanding for it based on a snapshot. 3) Lots of pep rally type functions for the managers that takes place away from the big cities and causes staffing issues for locations because the manager is away. 3) Managers and agents will be expected to bounce around helping other locations not to grow the business...but to provide coverage due to high turnover and staffing issues. 4) expect to work on holidays when the competition is closed.

Bottom line: 

Employees really do "Stay Hungry" at Pronto Insurance!!!

Advice:

It's embarrassing offering an adult $7.50/hr. Being more in line with the competition with compensation will foster several things: 1) Ability to hire better talent. 2) Reduce turnover 3) Stronger commitment to stay at Pronto to grow the business.

The model in the Valley would have worked in the big cities ...if...this was still the 1990s. It is 2014, the Valley is already established, and an updated agenda in the area of compensation is needed.

Finally, do a cost analysis of the time, resources, and money spent on the high turnover and apply it to a formula for a higher retention rate. You will find that being in line with the competition will be cost effective for Pronto and allow you to retain great employees to be able to grow the business with your marketing model.

Stay Hungry slogan currently means "Starving" to the average Pronto agent and manager in the areas Pronto is trying to grow - big cities!

While there is some leniency in the job itself, the company is terribly understaffed, more  than likely because their pay rate model is dated and agents don't get paid enough. This company is very stingy with their money, they do not care about their employees whatsoever and will take advantage to the point you'll be pushed to call HR about them working you 12 hours a day, sometimes having that shift thrown on you last minute which is completely outrageous Their communication about their benefits is terrible, I've been at the company for a while and no one follows up about PTO, even when you've been at the company over a year. 

They do not communicate properly about company changes and give a lot of misinformation. They do not train employees properly either which leads to a lot of issues. Also the customer service department is always having issues seemingly and accounting seems to try and skirt around paying back refunds, this all makes an agent's job MUCH HARDER because these issues fall onto us.The main issue I have with this company is that they do not seem to recognize their agents as human beings with lives outside of being a worker-bot for their company.

This company is a MESS. Not only are the managers never on the same page, but they never give you any feedback on your performance. If you’re doing good they don’t care, and if you’re not doing as well as they’d like you to they don’t tell you anything until you get the call from them firing you. Their main employee for the Waco area who basically overlooks everything is a liar. She lies to all her customers and would call them telling them false information and once they would get mad she would lie and say she was somebody else in another office location. Corporate only listens to her so if she didn’t like somebody she would make up all kinds of lies to corporate so they would fire the other employee. They also take your commission when they feel like it and then say you made a mistake just to excuse their theft. Overall this company does not care one bit for their employees. You are there 10 hours a day and when you do get your hour lunch break they expect you to do all kinds of stuff for them like the bank deposit that takes 20 minutes or to go marketing for half your lunch break!! RIDICULOUS. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. They advertise that you make a minimum of 2k a month PLUS your commission which is also a lie. When I worked there I NEVER made even the 2 grand and that was WITH my commission included. Stay away from this company.

I was a manager and I was always with the threat of being demoted if I didn't hit Monthly Goal. The numbers that are given to each store are ridiculous to meet. They expect too much of the managers and the pay is not all that great. I had no help at one point and my District Manager did nothing to help me out so I ended up working 12 hrs shifts plus Saturdays and I still didn't get a chance when I didn't met goal. My DM is related to the owners and therefore did whatever she wanted and NEVER got into any trouble. The managers are demoted at the 3rd strike of not meeting goal and without any questions you are working at minimum wage with a new manager. The company does not try to keep P&C licensed staff and they will get rid of you as soon as they can find a replacement. The offices are super HOT in the summer and super COLD in the Winter. You are expected to market everyday weather it is raining or shining and the temperature is of no one's matter. As an agent, if you live with your parents and have no responsibilites, this is a good job to pass time. But, if you are educated and have your P&C license, then don't even bother working here.

You’re constantly reminded that your commissions could get taken away. Raises? Almost impossible.

Corporate is a mess. Scheduling is all over the place, if you need help it’s always someone else’s department, and good luck getting anyone on the phone. Training is mostly done by agents who just finished training themselves, so don’t expect much guidance.

Time off requests had to be submitted 30 days in advance and still weren’t guaranteed. That made it hard to plan anything. You’re expected to be in the office no matter what storms, floods, freezes… doesn’t matter. I tried calling corporate during a storm to leave early, no answer.

Office maintenance issues can take months to resolve. I personally worked through an entire winter without a heater and was not approved for a space heater, which I ultimately had to purchase myself. Payroll? Messy. Sometimes you get underpaid or overpaid, then they just adjust it on your next paycheck and you just have to hope for the best.

Honestly, don’t stress too much trying to impress anyone. They mostly just need someone in the seat. 

Work life balance is outttt. Only have one day off
Training is mostly in form of outdated training videos/slides/documents.
System errors are frequent so we constantly have customers being rude because of the wait
There’s promotions from within but most choose to settle because “it pays the bills”. Management is usually unorganized and doesn’t take sick employees/employees quitting into consideration so finding coverage is difficult at times. I can only speak from what I’ve seen (only been here a small amount of time) but agents have told me it used to be fun & cooperation was bountiful before major changes came about. If there’s no customers, you have to find some (via grassroots marketing/social media marketing/etc). It’s super chill and we see a lot of slow days but when it rains, it pours lol we would get overwhelmed with customers in small periods of time (e.g only one agent in office and 3cxs on the phone & 2 in office).
It’s good if you want to do little work for somewhat good pay if you settle.

If you are interested in the field of insurance but don't know where to start i would suggest this place. They do assist you to get your license that you can also take with you anywhere you go. They do have great benefits if you need health insurance and all. Usually when you get hired you will be sent to whatever store is needing an agent. Overall the work is lackluster and tedious. You are expected to follow a quota every single day or face corrective action. most of the time you are sent out doing marketing for the stores everyday for about an hour depending on how the weather is but usually it gets repetitive and tiring. The commission is a huge joke. The most you'll get from selling a policy is around 2 dollars and that's about it. i mean it isn't so bad of a job if you are just starting out to learn about Auto and Home Insurances though if you are experienced and expect more, id suggest to steer away from there and try something with better integrity then this company.

This company seems like a joke most of the time. They lie a lot about their services and not to mention they are very needy. They only focus on making sure they hit their goal and the DM focuses on hitting their quarter goal to make sure they pocket their bonus. They don’t even bother giving a bonus to the employees that make it happen for them. Not all DM’s help their region to hit goal. At least the one I had didn’t. He did his job poorly and still would get mad when goal wasn’t met and didn’t do anything but give the employees on his region a write up for not hitting goal. They give you 3 months to hit goal. If u don’t they replace u like nothing. This company doesn’t care about employees. Just their money. If u apply and get hire get the license and LEAVE.  They like to micro manage everything including YOU. They want you to do what Texas does not knowing that Texas is a total different environment. California has more competition than Texas. That’s just my opinion from my experience.

Calculate premiums and establish payment method. Call on policyholders to deliver and explain policy, to analyze insurance program and suggest additions or changes, or to change beneficiaries, Contact underwriter and submit forms to obtain binder coverage, Explain features, advantages and disadvantages of various policies to promote sale of insurance plans. 
Inspect property, examining its general condition, type of construction, age, and other characteristics, to decide if it is a good insurance risk. Install bookkeeping systems and resolve system problems. Interview prospective clients to obtain data about their financial resources and needs, property to be insured, and to discuss any existing coverage.

I love the management team, it took me a little bit longer to train. As there’s a lot of different systems to use. But they were very organized. They got me licensed within the first week . Training was a little bit scattered I had to go to about four different offices to train. But they kept their promise after the training they put me in my own office with one other person. And I love my workstation I have my own office and my own desk I set it up to make a nice and cozy. The company lets me dress really comfortable unlock my last position where I had to have my shirt tucked in and make up on every day. But here I get to be very comfortable at my desk. Just get a little stressful at times trying to hit sales goals. But I try my best and love my commission check on the first of the month with my pay as an extra bonus that I never got at other jobs
