I was hired for this position FULLY REMOTE in November and started on the 21st. I went through 4 weeks of VERY crammed training. They throw all of this information at you and expect you to memorize it. By week 2 you’re on the phones, and it’s not like prep calls it’s the real deal. People were crying and overwhelmed, it was horrible. They give you 6 weeks after training to be at “MPS (minimum performance standards) and that means you have that 6 weeks to be performing where the rest of the floor is performing at. Including “activities” which by the way, you get a dollar per activities. They took away the closing commissions which is still marketed as a huge perk and one of the reasons I applied for the job. They took that away completely & very randomly, they told everyone within 60 miles of an office in the company (hired remote or not) they’d need to start working full time in the office. (I was fully remote and 80 miles away so I was deemed “safe” but most weren’t. So hired as remote and a few months later told we’d need to go in full time. I felt very insecure about my job security because my concern was if I’m fully remote in a different city or what happens to me? We’ll get to that. THEN they drop a huge dump all over us and say “by the way, we’re also doing mass layoffs! But we’re not going to tell you exactly which departments are being cut or who will be laid off first.” People were LIVID. 

Let’s get back to metrics, so after 6 weeks of being out of training they expect you to be dialing the entire hour it’s called top, I’ve had other call center jobs where this is also a metric. But here, the only time you’re getting credit for top positively is if you’re in a call and the phone is going. Any time going from one call to another, or sending a text to clients (which it’s mandatory we reply to but they don’t have quick replies) or even on days you miss work for vacation or sickness it’s not accounted for, or if youre replying to an email or slack message that you’re required to answer or going to meetings or doing virtually anything besides in a live call you’re getting docked. That’s a lot for new hires who 1. May have questions on certain calls, may not know what to respond to some texts, may not do things super quickly especially since you’re taking these calls and 2. don’t know what you’re doing because the training sucks and they don’t even show you many live calls in training! Just throw you on the phones. I was fired after 3 months because I didn’t get my TOP up to where they expect it to be, even though my other metrics were great and I was making great improvement, nope. Not good enough improvement and not quick enough. This company is the worst company I’ve ever had the displeasure of working for, glad I’m not there anymore because I was miserable and so was everyone else who worked there (who wasn’t leadership.) Lastly, sick time and vacation time takes forever to accumulate! They give you maybe 2 hours per 80 hours worked & if you use it it’s a whole event and guilt trip over using your own benefits! 

Was promised that I could make money but it never came.  After the initial sales guarantee is over (9 months currently) you will struggle to make goal.  Don't think I am serious or maybe I just couldn't hack it?  Think again, I was consistently in the top 20% of sales on the floor.   Did not matter.  Management manipulates monthly sales goals and can restrict the lead flow and to preclude you from hitting goal.  You are never allowed to go out of the dialer [the pre-made list of people you are supposed to call].  As a result, management has the ability [if it looks like more people are going to make money than they want]   they immediately send you on a useless campaign / call list – (for example - calling the same 50 people over and over that were previously rejected - again - that will not buy from you, just so you miss the bottom payout.)   Want numbers?  The leads team has 120 reps on it and were lucky of 10 people hit goal (most of the time, 2 or 3).  Less than half make ANY commission at all (unless you are on guarantee).  This happens most months.   Add to this, there is no balance or fairness on the floor which adds to frustration.  They group of about 10 people that have been there the longest and are in managements favor - make most of the money.   The management style is truly Machiavellian – they are layovers from when the company was an “anything goes” mentality and boast about it… I wouldn’t trust any of them – as they have a false sense of reality / truth.  They are from a Glengarry Glen Ross era when dishonesty ruled.  To them, the customers are fools.  Very similar to what happened at Wells Fargo where high sales goals – and outrageous kickers caused WF sales reps to open checking accounts in peoples names, realtor.com sales reps [have to] add software that customers do not need so that the sales rep can make anything.  Time to clean house and bring in a whole new management team.

The only good thing about this job is the pay, however compared to other jobs it's below the industry standard for a company owned by NEWSCORP and the Murdoch family. There are free snacks every day at the office. The hybrid work schedule is nice, 2 days at home 2 at the office. Your coworkers for the most part are some of the coolest people you will ever meet with a few expectations. However, having said that, the middle tier management takes their job way too seriously. You will be expected to work yourself to the bone day in and day out without a single ounce of recognition. Those that do receive recognition are favorites of middle tier management . Upper management does care, and they want to foster a positive working environment, but with the managers working under them its impossible.  Before I started there was a HUGE round of layoffs, where they basically consolidated a enormous amount of work and spread a little extra job duties to each manager, and employee that survived the layoffs . The benefits are pretty good, lots of paid holidays off, that start day 1. There is flexibility with your schedule however that is a small positive in a sea of absolute negatives. I have never been apart of a workplace that is so utterly toxic and demeaning to low level employees with no accountability for draining our mental health. Yes, its a good paying job with good benefits, but the amount of overbearing stress you will have to endure is insurmountable and it's not worth it. 

The company itself is great, but the actual job sucks. I thought people would know why I was calling, but most people assumed I was the agent because the website says "Email Agent." Consumers got confused and upset when I told them I was just a coordinator. I honestly thought people would be friendly, but half of them were absolutely horrible for no reason.That was something I never got used to. Also, expect to take inbound calls of people constantly assuming you're the listing agent. It's a lot to learn, but the job is repetitive after a while. I wouldn't recommend this position, but again, the company itself is great. You also have metrics you have to maintain, which isn't great for a proper work-life balance. They preach grinding on the phone to keep up with metrics, but honestly, I felt like I was being pushy, which upset consumers even more. Additionally, it was tough to take breaks because it took away time from the phones, and the more time away means more time on them later. The commission structure is a little aggressive too...while the money can get really good after a few weeks, you have to grind really hard to earn it. I guess I just prefer an hourly rate, and it wasn't worth it to me to stress about how much I'd make that day.

I'm lucky to have a great manager, but everything else about the role is terrible. The interviewer was misleading during the interview process and it wasn't until I finished training that I found out about things that would have made me turn down the job. The role requires a MINIMUM of 200 dials a day and you are required to hit three different metrics for every single pay period. If you don't hit that, you get sent down a disciplinary path. You can't take any breaks from the phone, you are required to constantly be dialing and if you don't, your "breaks" will be added up and you will also go down a disciplinary path. You're told you can change your schedule after a certain amount of time (first pick, actually), but that is a lie. You can only change if there is an opening, and considering they bring over 40 CSRs on every two weeks, openings are far and few in-between.  Oh, and they just now introduced sick leave, but that doesn't role out until January. Before that, if your sick, it counts against you. 

All in all, this is a standard telemarketer job that dresses up as something better to bring you in. 

Started working there sense Covid wasn’t want I wanted to do but I started because I needed to pay my bills like anyone else. The job is very easy it is very just the same thing over and over again just different people, they are very strict about following a script that doesn’t work verbatim. Feel very mind numbing and soul sucking but like I said very easy. I always did very well and have been there awhile worked with different managers all of them kinda feel the same they all just care about how well their team is doing for their pay so every time I asked for help on moving up in the company or moving to a different department I have been given a write up right away and you can’t move anywhere with one. Just feels like I am being held into that position to better the management team. Not that bad of a place if you can stand to do the same thing over and over again for 8 hours a day depending on your schedule, managers who don’t really care about you, and having no voice on bettering the position you do on a daily basis.

Advice to Management

None really... ship is already sinking but they just keep hiring new people to turn and burn. Highly recommended to those who like the hard-close method like Grant Cardone type of sales, which most of your Real Estate Agent/Brokers will not put up with. Recommended to those who can sell a product that they do NOT believe in because product is no good (good concept though). You have better chances of succeeding as a car salesperson. If you're on the fence about the reputation on this establishment just search the web with: "realtor.com lawsuit" from real estate professionals to former employees suing this place... Also note: most raving reviews are from current managers trying to manipulate the system....just like the manipulated/false leads they sell to their real estate agents/brokers.

At realtor.com they try their best to work with your schedule, and be friendly, and keep a calm environment but the high call volume of dissatisfied customers is extremely high. Question's regarding advancement for career's is very little to no possibility.When speaking to management about constructive criticisms of website proficiency and customer relationship management they seem to give a reherressed legal statement for the matter with very little concern for the companies practice's. They have a high volume of unhappy customer's due to their website's poor performance maintenance, lack update of system's and refusal of having transparent account maintenance for customer customization , and shady business strategy for retention and year contract systems. It's not bad pay ,but their standards for business practice's are something you have to turn your head for to avoid legal accusations.

As a customer service rep I was required to make 100 to 125 calls a day. It wasn't hard to do that. So as far as stress in doing your job there was none. But you were expected to sit at your desk and make calls and nothing more. No talking to your neighbors. Absolutely no cell phone usage during work hours. If caught texting or talking it was grounds for termination. Also do not question any of the rules. If you do you will be labeled as a troublemaker.
I was there on a 3 month contract and before that time was up I was extended for another four months. I was told I was doing a good job. I usually had over 150 calls a day. Then one day I questioned a procedure and was told don't question just do it.The next day I was told not to send e-mails to different departments even though they needed to know what I was doing. In two days I was let go.

If you are satisfied to go to work, keep your head down, never question authority, and never get caught with your cell phone during working hours this is the job for you.

My experience at RDC started out wonderfully, and slowly evolved into one of the most toxic work experiences I’ve been in a long time. If you do well with micromanagement, rigorous performance standards, and little to no accommodations for mental & physical disabilities then this is the place for you. I’ve never felt so uncared for in a work setting. If you begin to struggle at this company they will do everything in their power to “coach you out.” They say “people are our foundation,” but that’s misleading. They don’t really care about anyone in this company unless you’re a manager of a department or organization. It’s sad to see them let so much talent slip through the cracks due to poor accommodations. Definitely not an equal opportunity employer.
