In an era where companies are hailed for their commitment to employee well-being and fostering a positive work environment, Reliaquest stands out as a glaring exception—a cautionary tale of corporate negligence and disregard for its most valuable asset: its employees.
Instead of the promised land of professional growth and fulfillment, it resembles more of a nightmare, where employees are mere cogs in a malfunctioning machine, disposable at the whim of clueless leadership.
Let's start with the leadership—or rather, the lack thereof. Instead of providing guidance, support, and inspiration, they remain more worried about social status, only to deliver soul-crushing directives without any semblance of empathy or understanding.
But perhaps the most egregious offense perpetrated by Reliaquest is its blatant disregard for the well-being of its employees. Burnout is not just a possibility but an inevitability in this toxic environment, where unrealistic expectations and unreasonable workloads are the order of the day. Mental health? Forget about it. They tout “unlimited PTO” or “hybrid work structure”, but any mention of taking a sick day or working from home is met with thinly veiled skepticism and passive-aggressive comments about dedication and commitment. While most likely denying work from home requests anyways. 
In conclusion, working at Reliaquest is not just a job—it's a soul-sucking, morale-crushing ordeal that leaves one questioning their worth and sanity. If you value your mental health, professional growth, and overall well-being, run—don't walk—away from this corporate cesspool. Life is too short to waste it in the clutches of a company that sees its employees as nothing more than expendable commodities.

Overall I have loved my time here at ReliaQuest. The onboarding was amazing, I got to meet new teammates from different office locations and countries, and they had so many full time people come speak to us. Very welcoming. 

In the role I found the learning curve to be steep, the training was good, but there was an expectation to work hard to really learn what you need to know about the role. I find the team around me to be helpful, so this wasn't a issue. 

The role at times is difficult, the things our customers are looking to solve seem to constantly be changing, and they can drive urgency on our end at times which can lead to some stress. At times we take on tasks that other vendors have failed to deliver, that we ourselves didn't initially know the answer. I've come to appreciate these projects, because no one expects us to be perfect, they just expect us to work hard at it. I am assuming this is how the company has grown so fast, that growth has helped our teammates get promoted or move teams, I guess its apart of the experience!

Your job here is not security. Your job here is to take vague SIEM alerts based on a single log event, and turn that into a cohesive summary of how the customer suffered a data breach. Customers know that these alerts are useless (most pay over a million dollars per year so they can say they have 24/7 eyes on glass for PCI requirements), and therefore do not care. You will work repeated alerts on port scans, EICAR files, and user password resets. You will work 9+ hours per day with no opportunity to go grab lunch or coffee. You will not receive overtime. Your time will not be made up elsewhere. You will be patronized my other teams. You will be on the hook for teaching new hires, as the month-long training period does not cover how to do your job. Your promotion process includes interviewing for your own job, and if you pass, you will not receive a raise for multiple months, and will not receive backpay. Telling higher-ups that you're dissatisfied with anything, including abuse from coworkers, is grounds for firing. When you do leave, you are on the hook for $20,000 in training that does not include how to do your job.

As an example of how bad the work is, managers and shift leads have left work to buy alcohol for people on shift. This is not a rare occurrence.

A Typical Day at Work:
It felt like I was drowning in a sea of endless tasks. The workload was overwhelming, and there was a constant pressure to perform without adequate support.

What I Believe I Learned:
While I did gain some insights into the cybersecurity world, the lack of structured training and mentorship hindered my growth. I often felt lost and had to rely on trial and error.

Management:
Management seemed distant and out of touch with the day-to-day challenges faced by the team. Feedback often felt like criticism, and there was a lack of clear communication.

Workplace Culture:
The environment was competitive to a fault. Instead of collaboration, there was a sense of every individual for themselves. Team spirit was lacking, and there was a palpable tension in the air.

The Hardest Part of the Job:
Dealing with the constant pressure without adequate resources or support was draining. The expectations were sky-high, but the tools and guidance provided fell short.

The Most Enjoyable Part of the Job:
Honestly, it was hard to find joy in the midst of the chaos. Perhaps the occasional successes in thwarting cyber threats provided a brief respite.

Reliaquest is bleeding developers and product managers due to mismanagement. The company's core competencies are in cybersecurity services, not software development and that will quickly become apparent to you if you accept an offer. 

I strongly recommend you avoid this company.  You will find nothing but high employee churn with management scrambling to outsource jobs to India to stop the bleeding.  Promises to the board consistently go unmet because Sr Leadership has no idea how software is made. 

It is obvious that no one in leadership has picked up a book on coaching written in the last 25 years. Very hostile environment, employees getting yelled at during staff meetings by aggressive management. The workplace in  Tampa office is like going back in time 20 years. 

No best practices are being followed, the entire GM platform is an absolute mess. This has come down to leadership and how decisions are made. Software is architected by stakeholders turned PMs who have no business designing software, constantly wading out of their swimlane due to lack of product management experience. 

This was the best first internship I could've asked for.  I went through four different interviews which took about 2 months from first call to first day on the job.  They place a great deal of importance in company culture and because of that, are very picky during the interview process to ensure that they maintain this culture that they have cultivated.  Everyone I met were friendly and/or knowledgeable.  Some of the higher-level and C-level executives graduated together so they can seem a bit "bro-ish" at times, but they're all great people from what I've known.  The hardest part of the job is the competitive aspect.  Cyber security is already difficult in nature, but because of the culture they've cultivated, it becomes a bit more difficult due to the natural competitiveness that occurs within the office.  If you want that promotion or salary raise, you really got to work for it since they're constantly growing.  Most enjoyable part of the job were the people.  Every Friday they cater lunch and there's company hangouts every now and again.  If I had the opportunity to work for them again, I would definitely do so.

RQ is home to a team of smart, fun, and supportive people willing to help you learn and grow as much as possible, but bogged down by unrealistic expectations and a daily workflow that produces heavy burnout.

The amount I've learned from the people I've worked with here is invaluable, and I always felt supported by my coworkers and shift leads. The amount of experience and opportunities to upskill yourself is also incredible, being able to get acquainted with a multitude of technologies right out of the gate with a ton of resources to help you understand everything you need to know. 

However, the amount of stress and burnout that this job causes on a daily basis spoils the experience for those who stay for more than a year. You are constantly being pressured to meet absurd expectations, berated for focusing on the wrong work regardless of what you choose to focus on, and will often stay late due to frequent technical issues outside of your control. 

Great place to work for gaining cybersecurity experience early on in your career, but not somewhere to stay for long.

Attrition is significantly higher than industry benchmarks. The organization operates in a constant state of urgency, with frequent unplanned product and engineering escalations. Teams routinely absorb aggressive and irresponsible customer commitments that are made without adequate technical vetting. Although employees consistently extend themselves to meet these obligations, delivery gaps are often met with reprimand rather than accountability upstream.

Nights and weekends have become standard operating practice as teams compensate for inadequate project planning, unrealistic timelines, and continuously shifting priorities. Managerial turnover has been persistent, with some teams each experiencing multiple leadership changes over the past 18 months, limiting execution continuity and ownership. Biannual organizational restructures, positioned as optimization efforts, have instead resulted in repeated disruption. Any progress toward clarity or stability is short-lived before the next restructuring cycle begins.

I count my blessings coming into work everyday because I have never been in a office with such great leadership and a healthy atmosphere. I think there is emphasis on focus but also emphasis on people. To be successful here you need to communicate, have attention to detail, and be focused. The whole company is a team and every manager prioritizes their people's lives in my experience.

The most enjoyable part of the job is my co-workers. The work itself is not dissimilar from other companies, but its the team environment and all in commitment that sets RQ apart. Employees are held to a high standard of performance and attitude and energy. To work here, you have to be willing to meet those standards every day.  

Their entire business model is recruit fresh out of school and brainwash that selling your soul to work is normal. This place is great for learning cybersecurity young and fast. It only works though if you have no outside life. Being overworked is the norm and if you’re not onboard you don’t have the right “mindset” to be here. Change is inevitable, yes. BUT the focus shift to doing anything to gain a $ is ultimately hurting the customers. Everyone is encouraged to sell at all costs, pricing structure is nonexistent, and products aren’t anywhere near baked out enough half the time to pitch so prematurely. Certain managers are known to be bullies to their team yet nobody does anything about it. In my opinion the entire department needs a huge reset and it’s a shame because there truly is so much potential there.
