As a delivery driver/ repo person, you are expected to complete the tasks they put on your schedule for the day. That would be easy if the employees at the store cared one percent about what they are scheduling. There is supposed to be a radius they are not supposed to sell to people outside of that is completely ignored. Also the tasks they assign have no rhyme or reason to how long things take. These things combined are a recipe for disaster.  If they schedule a sectional to be delivered in one town 20 miles away from the store on a third story apartment and then a washer and dryer 45 minutes away from that and a kitchen table that requires assembly another 20 miles away it is up to you to figure it out. Expect to have to skip lunch 3/5 days a week. The employees at the store do not communicate about what/ when they schedule things so often times you will be completely overbooked one day only to have nothing to do the next day. They ignore the delivery radius have no idea how time management works. Sure you can deliver 5 TVs in an hour if they are all 5 minutes from the store, but that is never the case. They do not factor in ANY time for you to load or unload your truck as well, being huge fans of work done off the clock. Also expect the words of the customer to be taken as fact to management even if you have proof of the opposite. A customer can call and say you broke something in their house even if you dropped something off in their garage and you will be held accountable. You are also expected to "play dumb" or completely lie to a customer's face about things. They will sell someone a stain covered filthy mattress over the phone telling them its brand new, and tell you to throw a mattress cover over it and deliver it to them. The mindset being once a used beaten up couch is "in their home" they will love it so much they wont care about paying 4 times retail value for something in bad shape. Also be expected to do things you are not supposed to do for customers that cut into your road time. Many times the store will tell customers that the delivery team will take old washers, dryers, couches, etc... out for them even though we are not supposed to because they want to make the sale. They will also schedule you to help customers move when that is also not part of the job description and something they are not supposed to do. Expect your word to mean nothing and to be used as "the fall guy" for every mistake the store makes. They will also use customer complaints that are completely false and disprovable in your reviews to keep you from getting raises. This is a company that does not care about their drivers and in the time I was there I heard constant stories about entire teams of drivers quitting at once from multiple stores due to this nonsense.

A typical day at work as an account manager at Rent2Own consisted on doing calls in the morning, visiting late customers during the afternoon, and constantly having your job threatened if you don't meet "company standards".  The only thing I really learned is that when you have a costume party for employees every year, it's all they really care about. Management is extremely flawed and unqualified, myself having years of management experience was shocked daily on their inconsistencies,  how they talk to their employees, and gossip about their affairs and liaisons. A blind dog running around the store would literally be more productive. Workplace culture is toxic at best. The store managers favorites will sneak, listen to your conversations, and tattle on you like children in kindergarten. The hardest part of the job is actually the stress that is put on you by management and owners. If you are above "company standards"  you are rewarded and verbally felashiated. If you are under "company standards" they don't call you by your real name and scold you like you're a child. The most enjoyable part of the job was those lucky days you got a holiday before or after your day off so you could have 2 in a row. And when 6 o'clock would roll around when you could finally go home an escape the stress of them telling you that you're not good enough. 

This company paid well in comparison to similar positions/companies.
When I started my employment, they boasted about how well they treated their employees. I found just the opposite with myself and many others in the company. It seemed they would rather terminate an employee that struggled instead of further training. Regional managers also routinely spoke openly and ridiculed other employees in the stores. Keep in mind, this was not intended to be a joke. Other employees were not aware and I viewed this as humiliation. These conversations were not intended to be within a group of managers in stores, they were just an open humiliation of employees. I understand this may happen in many businesses, but that does not make it right.
I feel the managers in general, were unprofessional. They condoned making a profit but honestly did not care too much about character. The fact they claim to be a "church-going, family-oriented, company", is definitely false.

I was a delivery driver for Rent-2-Own and I had worked in every store in the region,in every role except store management. During my work experience I found my work enjoyable but management at the store and regional level was not always so enjoyable. There was a lot of bullying, intimidation, and lying going on. More than once I got and/or witnessed the bullying and intimidation. Telling us things like they can't replace us today but they can in two days or If you can't go to a different store then I have don't have a place for you anymore routine that came from the regional level.Then at the store level in some stores I got treated badly, called stupid, and lied about. The CEO of the company is great it is just some of the management under him that isn't.

If you’re going into sales might as well find something else. R2O does the whole “are owner is so generous” thing, when you start they’ll tell you get bonuses but mind you your already not getting paid commission for a sales job so it’s hardly a bonus for the sales people. Also if your in sales if you don’t meet quota you don’t even get the full amount of bonuses. You learn quick it’s not as jolly as they make it sound in the beginning in sales (door to door solicitation, cold calling repeatedly, and dealing with the blame game from management). If you don’t meet their numbers they do not care about you, they’ll be on to the next. Everything is about sales here they even push sales on collection dept, drivers, and even the maintenance and odd job guys.

I've literally had to knock roaches off the counter and walls while I was trying to sell used/smelly furniture to people. The delivery trucks are just as bad...bald tires, 10,000 miles overdue for oil changes etc. If you have the "right" manager you will always meet sales goals due to the fact that they are all fake sales and the numbers get manipulated because the manager wants his bonus. Inventory is waaaay off due to the fact that management urges you to put the missing product under a current customers account, then remove it after the audit. I could go on and on and on...

When I worked at rent 2 own things started of good but after my first year it dropped drastically. The management is a joke extremely unhelpful and practically useless. I would try to do my job but constantly had to ask where’s the paper work where’s the item I’m taking and so on. They also say they promote from within but never do. I was basically called to stupid when I wanted to move up. Want you to problem solve and then will write you up for doing so. If your a good person I would not recommend this job do to the way you will be treated by management and upper management. They do there best to act like it’s one big family and that is how they lore you in then treat you like a dog.

* Manager was great--taught how to be successful and clearly explained my expectations every day.
* Every store is like a big family--we all got along to get the job done!
* Most enjoyable part of the job--helping the community I live in. It's great to see customers have options other than going out and paying a lot of money upfront.
* Other perks: Never a late night or early morning, off every Sunday, and great paid time off (I even have my birthday off with pay). Company picnic at Kings Island is Great to share with the family!

Great environment, great compensation, excellent bonus plans for all full-time employees, great people. The benefits are unbelievable. The customers are the best part! I love getting out of bed and coming to work every day! I've been around this business nearly my entire life and will continue to work here as long as I'm welcome! Sometimes its a dirty job, and sometimes it can get frustrating, but the rewards make it very much so worth it. This is a family owned company, ran by a great big r2o family of employees.

This is a company that works hard to please not just the customers but the employees too! They have a great reward system including an annual meeting where employees receive awards for all of their hard work! Everyone in this company knows each other by name, including the owner who even works hard to know our long term customers names and faces. 97% of promotions are from the ground up. They work to please their employees daily and are always thinking of ways to make the customers love us even more! We aren't just another company, we are a family!
