I wouldn't  recommend this place to my worst enemy. Honestly!! The Administration is horrible. They are a bunch of bullies and gangsters. No matter how hard their employees work, they don't give them any respect or signs of gratitude. All they do is bully you and threaten you with unemployment. They don't treat you like a very hard working adult. We have lost great Nurses, Pediatricians, Specialists, and Receptionist for no good reason. They have no reluctance to fire anyone, no matter what their title.  The turn over rate of all employees is faster than at McDonalds.  When you go to a place and hear that this person is new and that 
person has been here for a couple of months then you know there is a problem.  The Pediatric Director will boost about how long a couple of the Pediatricians and Nurses have worked for the Center (A COUPLE!) -- but will fail to tell you how many Doctors, Nurses, and Receptionist have left, or how many they have fired. They were GREAT workers too!!!  Three of the Pediatricians within the 
past year have even sued them because they were VERY WRONGFULLY fired.  Yeah, ask about all that if you are going to interview. They WILL call you for an interview too because they are terribly short staffed. The patients are even tired of the high turnover rate of Physicians and many of them have left the 
center because of it. Continuity is lacking!  They don't care how hard any of their employees work or how late they  stay each day in order to provide quality care to their patients. They just have the 'ON TO THE NEXT ONE' attitude.  If you don't believe this review, ask them BEFORE your interview about the  high 
turn over rate of Pediatricians, Specialists, Nurses, and Receptionists.   The Administration can care less about complaints from the patients or the staff.  As long as they can bill Medicaid or any other health insurance they are happy.  
Their motto, "Health Care is a right, not a Privilege" sounds great but Treating Their Employees with respect should be a Right and not a Privilege too!!! Congressman William F. Ryan must be  rolling over in his grave.  Trust me, don't waste your time with this place. Visit if you want and talk to the staff. They are not happy at all.  I'm tired of the high turn over rate and the VERY wrongful write-ups of the staff. After the holidays I am going to happily 
resign!!  That will be a gift to myself. I would tell you to print out this review and ask the Doctors, Nurses, front desk staff, custodians, and security guards to comment on it but they 
probably won't give you an honest answer because they know the bullies will be after them. People have children to feed and bills to pay so giving you, a stranger, the 'Heads Up' may  not be in their best interest (no matter how badly they want to tell you the truth).  Seriously, keep looking. Send your resume 
somewhere else.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
In the four years that I have been working at Ryan I don't ever recall getting stressed due to any reason. Its such a collaborative environment that it makes me perform at the top of my ability and sometimes based on my self evaluation I get anxious that I can do more for the organization and patients.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Ensuring that my team and I in the Information Technology department support the staff at Ryan Health in their respective functions to comply with healthcare regulatory changes, operational efficiencies, providing exceptional care to our patients and financial stewardship through technology. This translates into managing short term and long term projects and addressing existing technology issues.

Work here to add experience to your resume, but know that this organization is run by people who are out-of-touch and not truly invested in the communities they claim to care about. Network and leave as soon as you can. 

Unsupportive environment: Promotions are based on favoritism rather than true merit/capacity. There are long wait times for patients, overworked/underpaid providers and  program managers, and a main focus on visit numbers versus quality of care. They refuse to acknowledge or explore options to improve the patient and staff experience other than "free lunch/pizza for monthly meetings." 

Ignorant Leadership: Executive management is mostly white upper- middle class and out-of-touch with staff and community concerns/needs. 

They feared engaging in meaningful discourse or taking direct, impactful action steps around social justice and pay equity or directly addressing homophobia, transphobia, racism, and misogyny within the organization. 

Patient, staff, and community input are not prioritized. The sense I got from upper management is that "patients should be appreciative of what we provide for them" rather than creating pathways to involve/integrate community and patient input in key decision-making meetings. 

They also claim to be leaders in the charge of "healthcare as a right for all" from the Civil Rights Era - which created opportunities for community health centers to exist in the first place.  Shame on this organization for having the audacity to invoke that history and co-opting its language to fit its own agenda. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing! An absolute horrific place to work. The worst is that it’s medical clinic! It deserves minus10 zeros! Extremely poor & stupid management know nothing about medicine telling you how to practice medicine! Ghetto patients with NO respect for clinicians believe everything should be handed to them. Unprofessional & also ghetto ancillary staff probably because no one intelligent will work there! Worked there a few months. What a mistake.Will NEVER recommend

Poor staffing, poor management poor everything

NO respect for anyone. Patients are demanding & aggressive. Management does not care to support the medical staff. Ancillary staff is disrespectful all around.

The worst. Hated going to work, hoping I’d make it home. Treated condescendingly by management.

Wow, where do I begin? So this place was painted as an awesome and noble place that helps the under served. That was until I started there. I was rushed through their disorganized orientation process to then be assigned a lot of long and complicated assignments. Meetings were generally useless, and my contributions and suggestions on how to motivate staff to take thorough assessments on patients were deemed "frivolous." I also learned that I had to complete tasks, which were not discussed on the interview and that I had no prior training in! Lunch breaks and bathroom breaks were highly monitored, you can't call in sick during your first 6 months, and HR will deem you "weird" and "suspicious" if you dare to show up to work early or even stay a little late.

I worked at the ryan center as a physician assistant. Within my first week there, I realized it was a revolving door for providers. After a month, I was desperately looking for employment elsewhere. Why was it so bad? First of all, top management consists of a group of uneducated, unprofessional, and the most unfriendly staff that I had the misfortune to work with. Secondly, providers were viewed as "the enemy" and certain members of this management would do anything to bring us to our knees. How sad is it when a member of top management states in a meeting that "it's us against them", referring to management against providers. I only wish to warn anyone that would even consider working in this hell hole. You are better off flipping burgers until you find something else. Believe me, you will thank me for this warning.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Most FQHC’s are similar and the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, but Ryan does care about there employees. I started there as the pandemic hit and no one was laid off. My former fqhc laid off several hundred employees during the pandemic 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
To be fair this is my 4 FQHC and overall the stress level is usually kept at a minimum. Usually some patients can be stressful but overall it’s at a minimum

Overall my experience has been pretty positive. They work on keeping environment and culture positive 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Usually pleasant, staff and patients are kind

Has potential however the medical staff are over worked not appreciated and burn out it quick.  Many staff have left and more are leaving, too bad, the community needs a health center , but run by folks who don't know the importance of caring for their staff instead interested quality and NOT quantity.  Top executives very disrespectful and safety is an issue, doesn't matter if someone has mental and violent tendencies that even hospitals do not permit them in their facilities, this agency accepts all (people could walk in with weapons, but since there is no detectors, we are at their disposal, so sad, that is why their is a revolving door of personnel The patients are the one that suffers.

One of the most difficult aspects of working at Ryan Chelsea-Clinton was the lack of frontline support from management. Administrative leaders were largely absent from patient care areas and did not assist during high-volume or stressful periods. Instead, frontline staff were expected to absorb the heaviest workload while leadership remained removed from daily operational challenges. This created frustration, inequity in workload distribution, and low morale among staff. Employees often felt unsupported and overburdened, with little sense of teamwork from leadership. A more present and hands-on management approach would be essential to improve both staff experience and patient care.


Since working for this company, I have gained so much experience with providing psychosocial patient care. I have also developed “thick skin” while and now feel prepared to work in any environment. The benefits are great and there is much opportunity for professional growth. On the the other hand, the management is severely lacking and the “culture” in this company is poor. A lot of staff from other departments are often times not supportive of one another, nor are they friendly. Better suited for someone who can look past those things and just focus on the job at hand without paying attention to the social aspect of it.
