Responsbilities :
      
•	Gathered all the end user requirements and developed reports accordingly.
•	Created the transformations using Informatica Power Center and created the views in the Management Studio 
•	Created dashboard reports for the management to give multidimensional view of the business.
•	Developed very complex Active reports in a multidimensional environment using Transformer Cubes.
•	Saved and distributed the active report (.mht) through emails. 
•	Created transformer models and built cubes based on the requirements and also created drill through reports for the cubes.
•	Altered calculations in the Report studio for the Active report and Making enhancements of the reports based upon the requirements of the user.
•	Created the calculations, filters and prompts in framework manager and user defined functions, procedures and packages at the database level as per the requirements.
•	Designed standard reports in report studio and also developed ad-hoc reports in query studio
•	Created functions and procedures at the database level to simplify complex business logic in reports.
•	Scheduled the reports to run monthly based on the updates of the cube using schedule management tool in Cognos connection.
•	Designed required Packages in Framework manager using database tables, views and stored procedures.
•	Organized metadata into star schema groups to best suit the business model.
•	Documented all the processes and created data dictionary.
•	Generated stored procedures to use in the framework manager to create the required packages.
•	Created burst reports to distribute reports to different end users.
•	Modified the existing report based upon the change request by the user.

Environment: Cognos Suite 10.2/10/8.4 (Report Studio, Active reports, Query Studio, Analysis Studio, Cognos Connection, Business Insight ,Framework Manager, PowerPlay Transformer, PowerPlay Web), SQL Server, ,Informatica Power Center .

Rules and regulations are based solely on image and protecting the company.  Optics appeal to new hires and the public but little to no effort is made to achieve what the company dictates.  SOP is designed to fire employees not meeting the guidelines while inadequate training and 30%+ employee (as well as management) turnover results in poor performance/production. Poor working conditions and animal environments, tools and equipment not designed to promote productivity but rather bare necessity and even then, only with an employee pool triple the size. All of these issues results in employees taking shortcuts, failing to complete all of their tasks, or ultimately face disciplinary action. Pressure is passed down the ladder and when that results in large hourly employee shortages, then management is held accountable, unless they have documentation that 'training' and 'counseling' was performed (all about covering your own...) even though manager's are aware that most employees are doing the best they can with what they have.  Micromanagement is extreme and in place for very same reason: follow this rule or be terminated. There is no room for thinking outside of the "company" box, no appreciation for those who've made the long commitment to the company, no value in individual contributions and opinions and definitely no sense of teamwork. Fire someone else before you get fired and the environment becomes nothing more than fear, anxiety, stress and discontent. Working with live animals is difficult and requires the most caring of individuals but caring does not equate to profitability in the eyes of this company.

A typical day at Seaboard Foods, Inc. in the ERM dept. would include sitting around for half an hour after clocking in, drinking coffee and talking about sports. Then, usually,  after the guys who the supervisor favored picked what they wanted to do for the day they would send us all out to do the day's assignments.
I, personally, learned the basis of everything I was taught in the first couple months. Then, I was stuck doing the same bottom-of-the-totem-pole assignments every day. I never got the chance to learn anything more than the basics. I was never allowed to reach my full potential, as an entry-level employee at Seaboard you get no respect and you get no praise for your hard work from any of your bosses.
As far as co-workers go, it just depends on who your boss is going to favor over or under yourself. The Seaboard corporation is a textbook hierarchy and everybody feels the effects of it. As a bottom level employee, I was miserable the entire time I worked there. All around you all day is constant harassment and sexual harassment, although in a comic reference usually, still uncomfortable for most of the guys.
The hardest part of the job was just working there, not because the work was hard, but because of the negative environment and favoritism of certain employees. For instance, my boss would often take the same guy to McDonald's for lunch and bring it back for everyone else with a paper-bag lunch to watch them eat. And, often times, that same employee would be allowed to leave with his wife for lunch when, supposedly, no one's allowed to go out and eat for lunch EXCEPT the bosses, of course.
The most enjoyable part of the job was five o'clock every day.

I accepted this position on the basis that my skill set was needed and demanded; I was very wrong.  I was the patsy that got played from the very beginning.  A few things to keep in mind before you start down the path of interviewing and/or accepting the job at Seaboard Foods.

1.  The interview vs. the actual working environment are two VERY different things!  I felt that the royal red carpet had been rolled out for my interview and first couple of training days.  When the real work week began after I relocated it was very different; attitude, environment, employees, etc.  All very strange and kind of cold. 

2.  Get EVERYTHING in writing!  My contract did not call for working on the weekends; about 2 months after I started, I was now required to work Sundays in addition to the Monday through Friday.  

3.  Be careful about what is communicated amongst your co-workers and/or manager.  At times I wish I had recorded what was said vs. not said.  

4.  Do not let the $$/salary influence your decision!  I let the pay make my decision and I should have weighed out other options before just jumping and saying yes.  The pay is excellent as is the benefits package but be prepared to sign over your personal life as well as their balance between work & life doesn't mix well and even more so if you are single with no family.

I worked at SBF for a long time.  When I first started the company would take care of the employees and really was "The company that works for you".  Over time, as the company grew, they lost their focus on the employee and the company as a whole is suffering because of that.  Promotions are based more on cronyism than ability, and hard work is not appreciated as much as it used to be.  The attitude of management has changed focus from promoting good work, knowledge, and loyalty to worrying about "how will this look to the people in Kansas City".  It seems to be more about image than reality. Experience is no longer appreciated, and there seems to be an attitude of giving pay raises to younger employees based on potential rather than long term employees experience.  There are still many good aspects, such as the pay being well above the average for the area, the best insurance at an affordable employee rate, matching 401k, and a generous amount of paid time off.  But having seen the focus change so drastically over time, I cannot give more than a 3 star rating.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There is nothing good working there. The company takes care of their own family members first. They give their kids or grandchildren or family members easy jobs and they don’t even struggle to get a job at an office or easy job. Then they have all the rest of the people slaving away and working harder than their families. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They will require you to pull count right away they don’t care about their employees at all. They just want the job done fast. The breaks are short too it’s take you 5 minutes to walk all the way to the break cafeteria and those 5 minutes are taken away from your break. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
A lot of different cultures and religions and races. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful and Hard. They expect you work really hard for the money you are getting paid.

I started out as a supervisor here at this plant, and eventually got promoted. Typical day at the plant was busy, if it wasn't repairs, it was work orders and PM's, get parts and materials lined up for the weekend projects. with all the automation installation I really got a chance to hone in on my electrical skills and troubleshooting. All the co-workers there both production and maintenance for the most part were easy to get along with. Everyone has their bad days right. I really cant think of anything hard about that job other than lack of stock parts. This got rather taxing at times but it made me better in a sense that it challenged me to think outside the box sometimes when making repairs. I enjoyed the challenge of getting to make a difference and make improvements. I had a great director, a good management team, and some hard working team members.

Lured in by a $5,000 hiring bonus at 90 days and paid relocation. Job title was supposed to be Live Haul Driver, but if you drive 50 miles in a day, you've had a big day. You're expected to sweep floors or wash and detail somebody else's truck to get your 40 hours. The company has a perfect CSA score, but that's because you have to run the gravel roads to stay off of the highways. I spent 30 miserable days here and never saw a piece of equipment that could pass a DOT inspection. You're discouraged from writing up any defects, and if you do, nothing gets repaired. I have a perfect driving record and CSA score. I would like to keep it that way, so I left as soon as I could.

A typical day at work consisted of having a daily safety meeting, along with going over safety protocols and amount of production which had to be met by the end of the day. I learned the importance of treating animals in a human manner. I really enjoyed working with my first line supervisors along with co-workers whose were always willing to give me a helping hand in order to make my job easier and faster. Nobody stands around not doing nothing. There is always work to be done whether it was unloading hogs off trucks, helping co-workers, or helping maintain the workplace as clean as possible. Hardest part of the job was having to drag animals who were considered broken or stressors, due to the fact that they could not walk. most enjoyable part of the job was to unload trucks which contained coles. Coles were animals that did not need to be unloaded, because they were being transported over to different farms other than Seaboard farms.

The company has a lot of room for growth and employee development. In farm positions, there is an expectation of complete dedication for all situations which takes away from a home life balance. The hourly employees are typically visa employees, which is hard if not able to speak Spanish but speaks volumes about why local people do not choose to apply since the company paid little in compassion to others, and struggles for their personal and professional growth. Higher management has some strong supporters, but there are quite a few that want managers to do as they as when they say, and do not look for opinions or challenges for development or growth. The majority of the employees provide a nice community, but at the same time, there is no confidentiality, the company, and HR, and higher management have a very gossip-like mentality.
