*A typical day at work consisted of, likely being put in a new situation (home health settings) without near enough information to know what a client needs, the office staff scheduler who also played a role of "management ", not answering your calls and only wanting to text. You can look forward to not being able to advocate for your clients. It has proven, with their own words "As long as there's a warm body there I don't care"....  
You can look forward to un-trained co-workers. The CNA'S ARE NOT SCREENED NEARLY WELL ENOUGH.  You can look forward to doing your work plus the work of others just because you care and your coworkers just see it as a paycheck. You can look forward to lies and manipulation from office staff. Office staff gets holiday parties and bonuses. The CNAs. Get next to nothing. 

There is no paid time off. No sick pay. I worked there 4 years. Not ONE DAY off paid. Insurance very expensive. Not logical. Nothing. They, the owners get rich. The CNAs pay their way with very little pay and most the work. The hardest part for sure. 

At this job I learned a LOT about what not to do. I learned how to carefully get a clients meds as to never give the wrong thing. I never have not once.  I learned I DON'T have to be treated the way I was here. I learned I CAN be the best I can be for the clients despite the little effort the company put in. 

You can't really tell them what your coworkers are doing to the clients. They keep the workers, let the clients suffer. As long as that $$$ is being made....

Management was a mad house. To many hats. There's the owner, his brother in law, the scheduler and one nurse that all seemed to "manage". Only one, the nurse, did it with love and care. Management lied to me and, about me to other office staff. I was devastated, heartbroken, and so disappointed. He never would say sorry. I wished he had.... To see any good come from that would have warmed me back up. But, no. He needed to protect his reputation. So, I was expendable.

Workplace culture here is a BLATENT LIE.  They say on their website that it's top notch, top quality caregivers and they even claim everyone has specialized training in a few area, particularly Dementia. THEY claim certified. However, they hire just as many PCA's as they do CNAs. PCA's. Are not bad, I'm just saying they are not the certified, qualified, knowledgeable, loving employees the website claims. They are NOT mostly, certified. The ONLY "training" on dementia are videos they make you watch on your free time (though paid) they're literally you tube videos of a lady, one lady, who thinks she knows IT ALL about dementia. It's a sad thing all together. So the culture, is a lie. 

The hardest part of the job is the length of time I spent letting them run all over me (a handful of them at the office) and manipulate me a convince me to work 60 hours a week for virtually nothing.... Then. The second hardest part was walking away about a year after I realized what was going on. I stayed for the clients, I stayed and made SURE all I had figured out was correct before I quit them just last month 3/26.

The only enjoyment I got out of this job was the response of the clients to me. I made them happy. I treated them well, compared to a few coworkers. They needed me. It was so hard to leave. 

Once I've been assigned a (4 hr/8hr or overnight) shift, I should arrive to the client's address or residence. Clock in before my shift starts, introduce myself and let myself into the building/house/ etc. 
I should have read the client's Care plan ahead so I would get an idea of the client's condition and needs. This is a one on one caregiving service, the client is always our priority, their well-being and safety is a must. Just get to know them and make them feel as comfortable as possible, engage into a conversation to get to know each other, their likes and interests, if you see they could enjoy talking about it. others will only accept to fulfill their needs without too much social interaction, we should be able to "read" between lines how they like to have their necessities met (hygiene, such as bathing and/or grooming,  light housekeeping, picking up prescriptions, medical appointments) and other just want companionship. Once we are finished with our shift, we must let them know it's time to end our shift and ask if they need us to do anything else before we leave, (depending on the task we could know if could be done before we go or if it takes longer, to do overtime with their consent or could wait until the next day to complete the task) clock out and leave a brief comment about activities done during the day with ur client, describe any highlight about their physical condition, or any concern. Important note: If it's an emergency (call them and then 911) or if it's just something really important to get on let the staff know as soon as possible.  

The staff is as supportive and flexible as they can. They bring a positive attitude and it's always a nice time when talking to them. 

I was recently hired by Senior Helpers and went through the full onboarding process, including a phone interview, background checks, online training, and orientation. After completing these steps, I was initially pleased to be offered a good number of shifts, including two that were supposed to be recurring weekly assignments.

However, things quickly took a disappointing turn. Before I had even started my first shift, those two recurring assignments were abruptly canceled—one of them just hours after it had been offered. This sudden change, especially before I had officially begun working, was unsettling and gave me serious concerns about the company's reliability and organization.

I had already begun adjusting my personal schedule to accommodate what I expected to be a steady workload. But after the cancellations, it became clear there was a lack of consistency in shift scheduling. That inconsistency made me question whether I could commit to the role long-term, so I chose not to continue my employment.

I understand that in the caregiving field, occasional schedule changes can happen. However, experiencing this kind of instability right at the start was a red flag for me. Additionally, I was informed that employees are generally not allowed to exceed 45 hours per week, so if you’re looking for overtime opportunities, this may not be the right fit.

Overall, I regret the time I invested with Senior Helpers. The lack of dependable scheduling made it difficult for me to feel like a valued or reliable team member, and that ultimately led to my decision to move on.

They are money hungry and they don’t care about their clients or staff. They’re really good about trying to “sell” you an idea or opportunity but fail to deliver. The office looks nice, but once you get settled into your office it becomes awkward, toxic, and aggressive. There is no team work from the owners and they expect you to do multiple jobs around the office without any training or resources. They micro manage, eavesdrop, and patronize you. They have a “I’ll just fire you”mentality. They also treat their caregivers poorly. They don’t appreciate their caregivers and even turned down the idea of doing a holiday party to show appreciation to their caregivers. They often time remove caregivers from their shifts last minute in order to please another caregiver. There is no job security, if you’re a caregiver here. They think everyone is expendable and just tell the recruiter to keep hiring more caregivers to replace you.Some of the office staff are amazing to work with however the owners and the environment very toxic. One of the owners has anger issues and is very aggressive. They do not support their staff and like to throw around comments like “we’re the owners” as an excuse to mistreat their employees and not take care of their clients. Owners also don’t take accountability and often blame office staff for things they had no control over. Looks nice at first, but true colors show quick. RUN! 

I LOVE my clients. I’ve worked here for a good amount of months now. I’ve come to absolutely love my clients. This job is perfect especially if you’re a mom to a young toddler like me and need a flexible schedule. They always make sure to schedule me when I can work. The clients I’ve worked with have been the sweetest and funniest people I’ve ever met. There’s something so special about working here. Because it shouldn’t matter how the benefits are or the pay is. It’s hard to get paid good a lot of places but I they actually do pay pretty well if you are certified in the right stuff and take Certain clients. I think the pay is pretty good! I’m extremely happy with it. But you should be in this career for the clients. For the people you help take care of. You form relationships with them and become so close. It’s almost like taking care of family at a certain point. And you get to get paid to do it! I love helping those who’ve lost the advantages so many of us take for granted everyday, like showering by yourself with no help or just getting up from one place to another! I love my dementia clients and the GEMS program the company offers is AMAZING. I’ve loved my gems. I love that in a time of great confusion and frustration they can find a Little security and happiness in our weekly interactions with them. Showing them love and making them laugh a little. I’m rambling on, but I love what I do. I’m sure there’s a thousand companies, but I’ve worked for 2 and this is the one I’d pick over both. I absolutely love the staff and office ladies. They are absolute rockstars and work hard to try and get people satisfied with care and hours. 

Pros:

•mgmt willingly allowed me to refuse working with client w/o backlash
 •Mgmt always worked with my schedule. •assignments in my preferred location (respected my mileage/distance pref.)
•good communication w/mgmt and office

Cons:
•mgmt was pretty disorganized, not to the detriment to the client, but always busy, rushing around to get a shift covered, not having binders readily available, things like that. 
•no pay increases with time, recognition by clients, etc. 
but my real, number one frustration was the quality of my peers. I covered a lot of shifts when my relief wouldn’t show up. I know that pay rate is directly equal to the quality of the employee. When invoicing the client rates that are several dollars more than DOUBLE that of the caregivers earnings, there is a level of expectation versus realization. It was uncomfortable hearing the client and their families frustration. 
All in all I really liked the owners. And the coordinator, she was the backbone of the operation. If not for her, I would have left after the first couple of weeks, due to the disorganization I mentioned earlier, probably growing pains, as they were gaining new clients pretty quickly. I had to leave due to a serious health matter, but I’m finally better and would have reapplied, but that C-19 put everything on hold. 
I worked out of the Southlake TX office. 

You’re never going to be doing the exact same thing everyday, but you’re always going to end the day feeling good about what you did do that day. Not every day will be as easy as Don’t feel intimidated if told you will get the best training in the field, I felt nervous at first hearing that first joining.( in Tennessee) They will train you on what they can before in my experience in Tennessee in South Carolina I had been caregiving previously, so I didn’t do training, but i’m sure they would train you as much as they could as well if needed. Imagine who you’re  taking care of as your grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, or even yourself. Remember to walk in with a smile and to maintain a friendly attitude. Thank the person/family you were with for allowing you in their home/room. This job will teach you that just how short life really is if you didn’t already realize, and have you improving yourself in your personal day to day life. You will also have the chance to  learn life lessons from those you work with.

This is by far the worst job I've ever had and that's really sad considering it's the field for which I will be getting my Bachelor's soon. This review is 100% my experience and is completely based on truth. The owner, Michael, is by far the worst boss I have ever worked for. He is rude, does not care about his employees in the slightest and takes advantage. He has not offered salary increases to someone who has been there 3 years. You work so hard and do so much for the company and never get a thank you. I was hired as an Office Assistant and ended up doing billing, payroll, HR duties (hiring, background checks), Case Managment, Receptionist, and every thing else they need in any given day. y work load increased, however, my pay never did. The owner talks down and belittles every one he speaks to, including his wife that works in the office with him. I have never experienced such a toxic culture. It was the most depressed I've ever been at a job. The office environment is hectic, there is never a moment of tranquility. Michael looks down on everyone and talks to everyone as though they were children. Caregivers are treated poorly and paid unfairly. You can never do enough here to get a thank you. It's worse than I can explain here. Also, there are no sick days, no vacation days, no benefits and no personal days. You get nothing here.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They allow you to set your own pace, the clients are great and the office staff is supportive. There is also a one year, $300 sign on bonus 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Orientation.  They give a lot of information and they do great with their training.  You work in the clients home and help with their daily tasks. Sometimes it's helping them in/out of the shower or supporting them from room to room to lower the risk of a fall. It could also be as simple as getting them a drink and fixing a meal, or combing their hair and helping brush their teeth.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's in home care, you work in their home 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I show up at my clients house and clock in and get them a drink. My client has a hard time standing/bending and is unstable on his feet. So I help pick up the house and take out the trash, do the dishes and then fix lunch. I help support him when he has to go to the bathroom or to his room. I make sure there is nothing on the floor that can be tripped or slipped on. I also help get him to Dr appointments if needed that day and then I clock out at the end of my shift.

I was hired as a full-time employe and I was told that I could pick my hours; Monday-Friday with the occasional weekend. Morning and night shifts would work fine, too. Is what I asked for.  However, the hours are very inconsistent. They would offer me jobs ONE day prior. 
EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. 
So, if you need to know what your weekly schedule will look like, too bad. that's not how it works here. You'll know ONE day in advance if you can work the following day. Be prepared to drive long distances too. 
You'll mostly get split shifts (example: 10 am-2 pm and then 4 pm-9 pm) or you'll get 3 pm-9pm.
Also  40 hours a week is NOT guaranteed. 30 hours a week is also NOT Guranteed. 
How is anyone supposed to maintain a work/life balance like this? 
Who cares!?not this company. 

I've been employed for three weeks and I've only worked one, 10-hour shift thus far. 

Also, they don't tell you this but the customer is the person who decides the hours.. So, I guess it's not the companys fault for the extrememly inconvinent hours. 
However, this is something that should've been mentioned in the interview. Rather than letting me believe that it was a 8am-5pm job. 
All in all, don't waste your time here.
