This place is a complete mess. When I started almost every week of being there someone quit or got fired. They made this seem to be them "clearing house" for a fresh start. I have heard management refer to people we were getting rid of as "ghetto". Your job description and responsibilities will change DAILY. You will constantly be asked to pick up and fill in everywhere. From giving showers, to mopping floors, doing home visits, cleaning toilets and shining wood surfaces. They put on a good show for corporate but it's mostly a lot of people in higher up or management positions delegating work. When you speak up you are punished and if you don't say anything you are called out. Most people there were hired as bodies to fill positions. You have a few medical staff that genuinely care about patients and others who would rather hide when work needs done and collect a pay check. The environment seems nice and they have great promises but it falls through fast. I wasn't at this location long but they strive to be like the York location with no desire to actually change anything that would require any real work. The idea of senior life is to take care of our patients and keep them out of nursing homes but the providers are constantly not sending meds or sending wrong meds. Care gets missed. The concept of them being able to come in and socialize, eat, shower, get laundry done, do their PT and see the clinic is great. The patients are why I do what I do but unfortunately staff and management is an absolute joke. They told me we got free lunches which I later found out was $2 a day which isn't bad. The benefits for family are outrageously expensive ($800 and up for family). I wish I took the warning signs more seriously. They keep letting people who are genuinely their for the patients go. I have honestly gotten nervous more than once about it being shut down for negligence. This is a good work environment for people who value collecting a paycheck and watching other people struggle to get things done. & If you fail to get everything done you will be scoulded. There is a lot of favoritism.

I work for the seniors at home which is the MAs for senior life. So many things to say that aren’t good, the pay is decent but that is they don’t cut your hours randomly. This company is constantly to worried about paying out over time and mileage to there workers, they will constantly mess up your paycheck. I even caught them on one of my paychecks replacing my overtime pay for my basic rate holiday pay that they give everyone. Don’t ever expect to have a regular paycheck you won’t know what income to expect because they are constantly cutting your hours or one week giving you to many. They never keep a consistent schedule… so no stability and constantly worrying if your next pay will be enough to pay your bills. Benefits suck, 401k is awful, you run your car for this company, I put over 50,000 miles on my car in a year and then they like to cut your mileage so when the time comes that you need to make money for that mileage to upkeep your car you won’t have the money to do so. They play favorites and will let some employees get away with anything while other employees have to pick up the slack for other employees. It’s safe to say that if you want to be able to pay bills like a mortgage or car payments don’t expect to know what your making week to week. The schedulers will punish you by cutting your schedule if you call out for being sick. Overall it doesn’t matter how hard you work at this company you are treated like your work doesn’t matter and seniority means nothing. They will hire someone new and give them your schedule after you have been there for year/years…

I thought taking this job and helping elders was going to be the best decision, I was wrong, the director makes this impossible. You are overworked, you are asked to do more than what you're supposed to or what you are allowable to do. The director has no clue what is all involved with the company especially the nurses. Anyone can sit at a desk and tell people what to do, but being hands on with your employees and showing appreciation is different. As a director, you're supposed to be a leader but when you can not communicate with your employees and you would rather send an email instead only shows your work ethic. You should be able to talk to your boss not be pushed aside. It's a very bad turnover and if you give notice it's a problem you're a target. A very unprofessional working environment starting from the moment you walk in. Receptionist doesn't know confidentiality nor professionalism transportation lack of communication to many people get involved in situations and no one knows what's going on. Inexperienced workers the director is desperate to fill many open holes with anyone. Guess it doesn't matter to have a degree and experience if someone who has nothing can get a title. Nursing gets the least recognition no matter how much you do or go out of your way! The people who are suffering are the members all because of micromanaging. 
Do your research on this company what you read is true you are not valued or appreciated!

The mismanagement starts at the top and trickles down.
Employees and Participants are just a body or just a $. If it costs more that person is gone.
There is no teamwork
Morale is low. There is no recognition of birthdays or holidays. If it is suggested it is turned down. The answer is one week a year everyone can be recognized.
Constant turnover. If you last a year (and your are warned on your first day) you are considered long term.
Each person is out for him or herself. It is protection. If they can make another co-worker look bad that is the overall goal to keep pressure off him or herself.
Benefits are terrible. The worst in the healthcare industry.
If you need to leave for an appointment that is not possible. Time is micromanaged. This is from a corporate level. Everyone gathers around the time clock and clocks in and out together.
Do not think or make suggestions on how to minimize chaos. (Even if it does not cost anything).
Communication is only shared among a few individuals. Though you may need the information to competently do your job.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working for Senior LIFE is the feeling of making a positive difference in the lives of our participants. Each and every participant is treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve and it is a rewarding feeling just to be a small part of that experience. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part would have to be dealing with the participants who are mistreated by their own family members and the feeling of helplessness if we are unsuccessful in helping them find a solution.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is the most inclusive and cohesive place that I have EVER been a part of. I previously worked for a family owned diner for 30 years and NEVER felt the love and support that I feel with my work family now!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day starts with following a very set routine of meetings and reporting followed by setting things up for the next day...and mixed in are wonderful interactions with our participants  and my amazing coworkers

While the mission of SL is a great concept, due to poor upper management the entire program is mismanaged. Be prepared for upper management to throw you under the bus to save their own skin when they make mistakes. When you send management an email asking questions they never respond. Benefits are poor. You aren't fully vested in your 401k unless you are there for over 5 years and they won't allow you to even start a 401k unless you have been there a year. You only accrue a little over 5 hours per pay period and benefits are so expensive they give you an "employee stipend" called a "cafeteria plan" to help cover the cost. There is no communication from upper management. And evidence of upper management missing Medicare funding received from enrollments to make a profit instead of providing appropriate services to the participants. They play favorites. Some participants will get anything they want while others will have certain services denied

This is a job in which you can leave work every day knowing you’ve truly had a positive impact on someone’s life. It’s a great work environment to keep your clinical skills sharp, strengthen collaborative communication through interactions with various interdisciplinary team members, and develop long term trusting relationships with the elderly members of the program and their families as you care for them through end of life. A clinical position at Senior Life would be a good fit for anyone who thrives in a fast paced work environment and works well as part of a team, but also possesses a strong work ethic and initiative to manage a large caseload of members independently. The work atmosphere is a great balance of fun and laid back, but also serious when it needs to be. The leadership/management team is very supportive of their staff, and they provide the tools and feedback needed to help their employees succeed in their roles.

The true mission of this organization is to enroll members and do everything possible to prevent disenrollment. The environment is often very frigid and communication with peers and management is grossly condescending at times. No department is perfect, but there is a huge lack of accountability, from top to bottom, evidenced by frequent finger-pointing, unfair public criticism and, be it knowingly or unknowingly, betrayal. There are meetings and emails for everything, but somehow a huge communication barrier exists. Nurses and home healthcare workers typically work Mon-Fri, but the turnover rate is comparable to what you may see with nurses and cnas that do shift work/weekends in LTC facilities. There is no focus on staff development or retention, which contributes to the low morale.
ALL of these things greatly impact the efficiency of the facility, but they also directly/indirectly impact the members and they are the ones who suffer the most.

I wouldn't recommend it at all. Save urself a heartache and stress. Too much work for one person for the pay. Only received 1 and a half weeks of very fast paced training in very short time and was expected to have it all done. People are friendly but watch out very deceiving. I agree with many people's comments on here how it is very disorganized and very stressful. People keep coming at you and expect an answer right away especially when I was on my own after a week and a half and still had no clue about some of work and their system but was expected to know everything within that short time. Too much stress more than any other jobs out there. So not worth it especially for little pay. Good luck all.

A typical work day can vary greatly however, when it is busy my coworkers are highly supportive and willing to step up and help as best as they can. The entire team is passionate about their work even when there are disagreements there is always a resolution. Leadership is supportive of the employees and approachable when there is a concern. 
The hardest part of the job are always the busy days trying to get everything done within the work day because it can be fast paced. PTO does not accrue quickly so you have to be mindful of when you use it. 
The best part of the job are my coworkers and having evening, weekends, and holiday's off, the leadership is supportive and they are available to talk to as needed.
