What is the best part of working at the company?
I feel blessed to have worked with such a great and amazing team  at Shasta Community Health Center. Helping others and making sure that everyone is seen and taking care of in a respectful manner.  I feel that SCHC has given me unique tools to in helping the underserved and the hurting. Allowing me to find other resources to help those who don’t even have insurance to get medical care without putting an additional burning on the  patient. Seeing a patient being grateful and thankful that you have the ability to help them is amazing that's when you know  you have done your job well. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When Covid broke out, there was a lot of people that became fearful and afraid to work in the health industry. In order to do a job that you love you have to have other co-workers/team players to do their part. However, When you are short-staffed, it can make your job a little bit harder. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone at SCHC makes you feel like family loved and excepted. With that, everyone is eager to help one another in all of the departments. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Every day is different you come across a lot of challenges, but you learn how to get through them.

I loved being a medical scribe for this company and learned a lot within my 4 years of working there. The providers are great and most of the support staff around you are helpful and become like family. The job as a scribe includes documenting for providers and assisting with other things. The stress of the job depends with the provider you work with. I ended up getting let go because of my attendance (which is fair) but this was because I was super burnt out and could no longer take on the load of stress but continued to push through the best I can when u was able to mentally show up. Managers come and go and I had 4 different managers while there, it made it hard with the different styles (first 2 were great). The higher up’s gave us the impression that they didn’t care much about us especially during a hard time through the pandemic, the best they could do was hand out goodies and emails that only made us feel more under appreciated. Your support will mostly come from your team of three, the doctor and nurse, which I was lucky to have until the very end. Otherwise good luck dealing with HR!

A wonderful place to work. They truly care for their patients and staff. Competitive pay, room to advance, yearly reviews with potential raises, and great benefits. This is a company who understands COL (cost of living) and will adjust everyone’s pay accordingly. 

They truly care about our community and do their best to aide those in need. From maternity to pediatrics to family practice for a growing family. To the HOPE for our homeless. Women and mens health and mental health. Multiple locations throughout Redding, Shasta Lake City and Anderson to reach our growing community. They are truly a caring company who do practice their mission statement to a T.

This is a great place to work. It is fast-paced and never boring. Coworkers are friendly and supportive. Management is always willing to listen to concerns. Pay is based on experience, and if you have experience, the pay is competitive and actually more than what you could find elsewhere. There is ample opportunity to work overtime hours if you want to by working evening or Saturday shifts in the Urgent Care department. The ONLY downside to working here is that it is tough (but not impossible) to maintain a balance of work vs outside-of-work life. This is a job that requires dedication and that you really care about serving the underserved population of Shasta County. It can also be stressful at times: the patient load can be heavy, and the ability to prioritize your time and tasks is a must.

But the bottom line is: this is a job that I don't mind getting out of bed for everyday. It's fulfilling, challenging, and fun.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Collaboration!  The medical staff works as team no matter which department you are in and we a mission-focused. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The usual not enough providers to meet the demand.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very mission minded to serve the underserved. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start the day huddling with my team to check for any preventative screenings or other testing that is due. Review the schedule and anticipate any bumps in the road. See my wonderful patients that I have known for years, attend any meetings or maybe lunch CME, head home by 530 or 6p.

Working at SCHC could be a great experience and seems to start that way for a lot of people. But with recent changes in management and changes in operations, it has become a "stepping stone" work place and not a destination. The staff care about the patients they serve and they are a great bunch of people. But are not supported by management who seem to be inconsistent in many of their tactics, reviews, and attitudes. Management also lacks an understanding of the work done on the clinical floor and is disrespectful. This is no longer a supportive place to work and I would not recommend it to anyone ambitious.

What is the best part of working at the company?
This organization truly believes in the mission and is integral to the health and well-being of the community.  I have never seen a CEO more dedicated to his employees, patients and helping the under served in our community.   It’s a great place to work!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
We have a lot of meetings, but communication and involvement is key to the organizations success. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Inclusive and diverse with compassion and understanding. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy, never a dull moment. You will definitely have career growth.

I love Love my coworkers, and benefits are  ok.  Many of us carry the same title but not the same pay. The more you can do and the more you know,  the more they expect out of you!  Patients are allowed to mistreat us over and over,  when they should be discharged.  Nowadays more and more patients come to our clinic displaying a sense of intitlement as a result of our employer not having our back. Lastly, our CEO constantly sends all employee emails that are one sides, trying to always push us to be on board with his views. In his professional role I and other employees expect him to be more neutral. 


What is the best part of working at the company?
The patients and coworkers are amazing.  I enjoyed them so much.  The large variable of patient needs keeps the job interesting.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management doesn't value us as individuals.  They play games and are very fake 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Most coworkers and some managers were fantastic to work with.  They are very out of touch in some ways 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy from start to finish.  When a patient no shows they put another one in their place.

There was plenty of training. However,  I learned the most by actually being on the job. They talked a good deal about caring for the under served. But only the under served that they were able to bill. Maybe once upon a time. But not while I was there. They do not care for their employees and I had watched someone be told that they are not needed as there is a line of people waiting at the door to replace them. I watched a person get fired for taking "too much" PTO as she was diagnosed with cancer, and consequently lost her health insurance. Everyone is overworked.
