They gave everyone a 10% pay cut due to COVID without a warning. I knew people that were getting paid more a month on unemployment. I've gotten paid way more at jobs that handled their employees way better and had you do less work. Honestly. for everything they expect you to do, they should be paying at least $19 an hour. They first had us taking two days off without pay and two vacations day a month which wasn't too bad. Then the pay cut came and we were all working full hours making the same as when we were taking two unpaid days off. They expect you to know how to do everything off the bat without any proper training, they won't give you a warning if they don't like the way you work (even though they didn't train you) and just terminate you because it's what was beneficial for the company. They also expected you to spend over an hour in meetings that sometimes had nothing to do with your department and you just had to listen to other departments talk on. They also tried to force a "Friendly family" environment but again, would rather fire you than give one warning about performance. You also had to pay $50 a month to park at a shared space, if no one else could share the space with you, it was $100 a month. Flight benefits were only with Singapore airlines so no use of them within the states. 

Facing people from different walks of life each day at the airport is fun and exciting, it never gets bored. Making people happy throughout their experience at the airport and on their journey is rewarding. Other than that, work is very exhausting yet employees are not well compensated. Management is NOT pro-employees and nobody stays. They keep training and replacing people. So you always have to be patient with new agents for making mistakes all the time. It sucks coz you're adjusting all the time and only few knows what they're doing. Work sucks the life out of you yet you're still broke and longing. Other than the fun interaction with clientele, there's really nothing much but constant training new people all the time. Leads are not even compensated when they train new agents. It's just sad no one stays other than the horrible management!

Singapore Airlines in general though is very reputable and classy airline. They're just too cheap to compensate for their people and third party employees.

Working at Singapore Airlines was a highly rewarding and professional experience. Training was thorough and well-structured, ensuring that staff felt confident and well-prepared before working independently.

The work environment was multicultural and respectful, allowing me to collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and learn different perspectives. Management generally maintained high standards while also providing support and clear expectations. I appreciated the company’s attention to detail, strong operational procedures, and commitment to maintaining a premium brand image.

Although the job required long hours and could be physically demanding, it helped me develop strong customer service skills, discipline, and adaptability. Overall, Singapore Airlines is an excellent organization for individuals who value professionalism, structure, and personal growth in a global working environment.

Working for an airline is always a time pressured.  I am expected to identify all the document discrepancies or frauds or  terrorism act within my workplace not to mention that every passenger has to have their boarding tickets and luggages checked in 2 hours prior to the flight.  My analytical skills and judgement is being used everyday.  Hours fly by so fast.  

Working as seconded in the company for Singapore Airline as a part time employee will not suffice for my financial need.  Career advancement is almost impossible.  Having to satisfy almost all of your customer is the hardest part of the job especially when they demand that  "customer is always right".

I love my co-workers because we helped each other.  After a stressful-running for time flights, we get to sit down and vent out our hard day's work.

Most days working for this company were really boring. There was absolutely nothing to do unless a customer called to set a booking. What I learned at this job was how to do accounting work, as well as setting booking for flights. I also learned how certain freights can load and unload on a plane. My co workers were really nice and very generous. They helped out as much as possible. The hardest part of my job was explaining to the customers why their freight was either placed on hold, left behind and/or rejected. The most enjoyable part of my job was talking to the customers and building a repor with them. Sometimes we had dinner meetings with our customers. Not only did we go out with the customers. Anytime there was a birthday or holiday, our office will go out to a very fancy restaurant. We will talk and laugh and have a great time.

However, career progression within the company tends to be slower than desired, which can be a drawback for ambitious individuals seeking rapid advancement. Despite this, the overall experience of working at this company is largely positive, with the emphasis on work-life balance, benefits, and supportive colleagues outweighing the slower career progression. Overall, it's a company that prioritizes employee well-being and fosters a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Organization (Grnd divisions) has managers that are resistant to the adoption of new technologies, thinking and methods, preferring to rely on outdated manual processes with outdated and unreasonable perspectives. The pay is supposedly median but feels like it tends to be on the lower end. Senior management come across as defensive, unempathetic and closed to feedback especially on HR matters. There is also a 3 months notice period, meaning that the company is more ideal for people who are seeking to stay long or cruise to retirement. Organizational climate survey for the ground division has been plummeting and is at an all time low - not because of Covid but because of how the management treated staff especially during Covid.

As far as customer service jobs go, working as a customer service agent for an airline is by far the worst position.  There are too many things that are out of your and your supervisors' control.  Nice people to work with, just terrible hours and the limited availability of an aircraft makes working with customers extra difficult. Limited window seats and such.  Generally speaking though, supervisors are very helpful with assisting coworkers to please the customers and attempt to at the very least meet in the middle with their demands.  Good job for experience with high pace environments, but terrible night shifts that end at approximately 1:40AM.

It is a typical 8-5 office job where we have to ensure the movement of materials and equipment runs smoothly and tend to any queries from stations around the world.

There are various skills that i learned from the experience but the skill that i believe the most useful is being meticulous in what we do. Working in a team ensures that we understand the responsibility of our roles as our actions affects the whole team.

I believe the hardest part of the job is to tend to overseas stations queries due to the language barrier and cultural differences. However, it is also something I enjoy as it allows me to interact and learn more about people.

I enjoyed the work but there were days where work was overwhelming because there was more processing of mail and packages then on a normal day. And it seem the time to complete had ended for the day. Did what I could to finish despite the work time had ended. That was the most stressful time. Did satisfied other employees when they had asked me to add of sending out mail or packages that needed to be sent out the same day
