Steps To Recovery

workday depends your team's work ethic if there's a flaw on the floor and you're having to cover the person slacking then that's when you notify your management. and then they can help correct the team's responsibility's and whether on desk or on the floor. as a rehire I learned that this company has grown majorly in staff and management benefits are worth it but like any other work place for some people it's not enough, hardest part of the job is having to remain calm in emergency situations even when fully staffed and working with clients on their first few days of detox can be challenging mainly due to their behavior an do to not feeling well or mental health but by observing counselor on staff I learned that these issues can be detoured with proper observation and training. most enjoyable part of the job is actually seeing the recovery process and who the client really is while they are sober. 

Job is beyond stressful and takes a toll on your mental health. Hardly receive any help from management. They talk down to you like you're nothing and stupid. They claim to want to invest in you but that's clearly never the case because you can work harder than anyone and only recognize it in fear of you leaving. Some staff are great but other staff are lazy and put clients lives in danger by not caring about helping them because they are too busy watching tv on their phones or sleeping on the job and management does nothing about it. Supplies like food, beverages or gloves are never in enough stock for both clients and staff. You always work thru lunches. Pay is pathetic and not worth it. Staff is always late when you need to do a shift change. Sink or swim method when you work with a lot of staff. Then you get to work with a great trainer the other staff member undermine them and treat them horribly. Management tell you that you will get one shift then throw you on a completely different one and doesn't even care. I would stay away from this place at all cost.

The job started out stressful you are thrown into groups as soon as you start with no training on how they like to run things BHT supervisor  is rude clinical director ex cop with no experience in a the drug and alcohol field he was hired because he is friends with the Co-Owner he has no compassion for staff and abuses his title, IOP director is a gossiper and talks down on most employees and discloses her personal business. The owners are brothers and realistically only care about the money at times they show slight concern for others which appears to be an act, the company is very unorganized. There is no stability in your job everyday you will worry if you’re going to lose your job, I am an honest person and hope success for all! With that said if you are looking for something temporary and unorganized choose first steps recovery if you want job security and be treated fair I suggest you search elsewhere. It can be a really fun and rewarding place to work. There are days with some downtime but there are also stressful days as well. It can be emotionally draining but if you have good self care practices then you should be fine. Management is great and is really helpful and the training coordinator and supervisors are always there to help. They approve most days off but I wouldn’t attempt taking holidays unless you’ve been there at least a year. Each department is really collaborative. Wouldn’t attempt to form/be a part of any cliques and absolutely no gossiping. Stay on task, don’t gossip or rumor spread, be professional at all times with peers and clients and good things will come. Overall, it’s a great place to work and you go home feeling like you did some good in the world by helping others.

FSR has a fast-pace environment with periods of down time that allows you to gain that client-staff connection. The clients you will be working with will touch your heart at times and challenge you as a Behavioral Health Technician and Detox Specialist. There are many opportunities for staff involvement such as being able to participate in alumni activities such as laser tag and even BBQs. There is a strong sense of team here even though at times, due to the vast variety of personalities, staff may not always see eye to eye. In cases such as these management takes an active role in resolving these issues and works on building an employee up rather than just implementing disciplinary action. As a result there is plenty of room for growth here within the company and is a good entry level opportunity to develop your skills as an MA, CNA, Counselor, Therapist and LVN. 

They don't just have a client centered philosophy they are actually here to help the client to the greatest extent possible. They go above and beyond like I have never seen in my 7 years in SUD counsling. I love working in nature and still getting to do SUD counseling, no other place has both and pays enough. I am frustrated that uncertified get only a dollar less that certified, but both are competitive wadges, just wish there was a little more compensation for certified persons with many years of exp. Other than that, all staff work so well together, it's the first place I actually feel like it's a TEAM, everyone work so well together and are here for the clients. I am so happy here! 

Working under the mentorship of the program director, I have been able to further develop my professional skills. Current staff prioritize patient care and the multidisciplinary style of treatment allows staff to work collectively. Management is qualified and passionate about their area of practice, and are always available via phone, and text (any time of day/night), if they are not on premises. First Steps will challenge you, as it is a fast-paced work environment, however, the reward comes from witnessing patients become sober and gain the necessary skills that are imperative in recovery in order maintain long-term abstinence.

I recently had an amazing interview experience with First Steps Recovery. From the outset, the communication was exceptional, with timely updates and clear expectations throughout the process. The team made me feel valued, demonstrating a strong commitment to employee support. Each interaction highlighted the organization’s dedication to creating a welcoming and positive work environment. The interviewers were not only professional but also personable, fostering an atmosphere that felt collaborative and team-oriented. Overall, the experience left me excited about the prospect of joining such a phenomenal team and being part of a company that truly cares for its employees.

The actual job is fairly easy . However,  the Staff likes to gossip & put others down.  Management is not helpful in times of crisis.  They are quick to blame & do not come up with any useful solution . They say call anytime but rarely answer the phone.  Management is also disrespectful towards staff & clients . Management has been know to have inappropriate relationships with staff below them & favor those individuals . They have also been heard calling clients "tweakers" . Overall this job is not worth the time due to a toxic work environment & no room to grow.

Always had an issue with management or coworkers. Most of my coworkers seemed very under qualified. This place is more about the money rather than getting people the help they need. Management is very unaccommodating for scheduling you request from day one, even when they promise you the schedule. Also no support at night! If you want to work their work during the day so you can maybe get ahold of a manager but it’s not guaranteed. This place led me to a mental breakdown from the lack of support. Would not work there again
