The only good thing about this job as a Float caregiver is that there are always shifts available to  be picked up because of how understaffed it can get. There are too many levels of management and when a problem arises and is taken to HD or nursing, they blame it on upper management to not take accountability. If you pick up an extra shift for overtime, you will most likely not get approved and they would rather be understaffed for that shift than to pay OT depending on the HD. They always constantly threatened to fire staff during stand up meetings during the shift and some HD are constantly complained about for being unprofessional or just verbally abusive but corporate does nothing about it. The only higher up who i ever felt like i could express my concerns to about residents was the nurse at North st. paul location, she has been one of the most caring and exceptional nurses i have ever worked with and i only wish the best for her since i witnessed how under appreciated she is. Overall, not worth the stress, if you’re able to just look for another company with good morals to work for

My experience at Suite Living Senior Care was extremely disappointing. Management consistently failed to address concerns brought forward by staff, creating a stressful and frustrating work environment. There were times when resident needs did not appear to receive the attention and urgency they deserved, and staff concerns about care and safety were not always taken seriously.

One ongoing issue was staffing accountability. Certain employees repeatedly called off during their scheduled weekends, creating additional stress and workload for the staff who did show up. Despite this being a recurring problem, management appeared to take little action to address it, leading to frustration among employees and concerns about maintaining consistent resident care.

Communication from leadership was poor, accountability was lacking, and employees often felt unsupported. The residents deserve compassionate, attentive care, and staff deserve management that actively listens and responds to concerns.

I have had the privilege of working at Suite Living Senior Care for nearly a year. From the very beginning, the leadership team has demonstrated unwavering dedication to establishing one of the foremost Senior Living Communities in the Twin Cities. The Suite Living model stands out for its unique approach to providing personalized care for both residents and staff. Although working in the healthcare industry is incredibly challenging, Suite Living fosters an environment where feedback is valued and actively sought, creating a space where individuals can drive meaningful change and feel supported in their endeavors.

My first day of working at this company I was all by myself, because they were extremely short staffed. I didn’t get necessary proper training to know the residents cares and routines, and how the company operates because I was working the entire floor on my very first day. Luckily I had experience because thats the only way I got through the day. I had to train in a new person that was hired too on my very first day  because that person didn’t have any nursing assistant experience. The cares was extremely heavy and overwhelming. It’s an assisted living but it should be a nursing home. They take any and every resident there. You have a lot of residents that require eazy stands and Hoyer lifts. When I complained about not being properly trained for my first day, they terminated my employment and I’m ineligible for rehired. 

A typical work day: You will be running around like a chicken with their head cut off providing care for their understaffed facilities.  
I learned:  To NEVER trust nurses who think they are managers too.  Those are far and few between and this place has zero of them that I encountered.
Management was some of the worst and most disrespectful I've ever been around in my life.  
Workplace culture was that of college age students and foreign people making up the bulk of the caregiver workforce.  Management taking advantage of workers any chance they get, especially their float pool staff.  
Hardest part of the job was getting anyone in management to listen to literally anything I was trying to tell them about anything.  
Most enjoyable part of the job was leaving in the middle of a shift New Years eve and never coming back.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
I liked that the facility was small. You really get to know your patients.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You are expected to do a lot. For example, resident laundry, dishes after dinner and sometimes even the meals if there isn’t a cook for the day. Also being an aide isn’t an easy job to begin with. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was definitely interesting. I wasn’t there all the time so it was tolerable but I’m sure If i had worked full time I would’ve quit much sooner. The management really wanted to portray they were friendly and approachable and that they cared for their employees but that just wasn’t the case. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Caring for the residents. Proving assistance with ADL’s. Passing medications and insulin.

As an experienced RN with Assisted Living and Memory Care experience, I was disheartened by the lack of respect from my HD and upper management. This facility is the only SL facility with agency staff to supplement lack of staff that has quit or moved on due to an unwelcoming atmosphere, which ultimately trickles down from the top. Not once did my HD recognize my commitment to staff, residents and family while employed here which makes for an unsavory partnership and an undeniable feeling of trepidation when coming into work (was given the silent treatment by my HD for weeks). Corporate infrastructure needs to be reexamined for this region of facilities to succeed; an increase in salary and hiring bonuses is not what exceptional nurses are looking for. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working for this company is working with the clients they bring you so much joy whenever you begin your shift and even just talking to them and learning so much.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part is when you can’t get a direct answer from the upper management, or when they say one thing and do another.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The environment is nice, but it can’t be better and culture. There is none.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
My typical day was to make sure that my clients were sleeping comfortable, and that everything else was ready for the next day

RN care manager: oversees one LPN & the rest are unlicensed personnel. 1 RN for the whole building. Census 32 for majority of locations. 

A few cons:

No wok life balance. On-call Monday-Friday after you leave work. Every 6th or so on-call weekend rotation for whole region (overseeing 6ish buildings for $500 bonus). No reimbursement for phone usage.

Go on in-person assessments outside of your building for prescreens & will not receive gas reimbursement. 

Messy culture. Corporate comfortable talking mess about someone else’s poor work performance, etc. Drama filled company IMO. 

Lots of staff turnover. Nurses will often be on med cart d/t short staff.
