CHASI in partnership with Brightpoint Health is an organization that services the many vulnerable populations of Staten Island. All roles are demanding, but in these times any role at any social service agency has its demands. If you are dedicated to your work and the clients that you serve and you do what you need to do, there are no issues. If you are not meeting your deliverables, not completing assigned tasks or continuously stating that you do not have enough time for your work but not producing, there will be systems put in place to monitor your work and hold you accountable. But, if you are doing what you need to do each day, there are no concerns or need for micromanagement. There is not favoritism, simply appreciation and opportunity for those employees who complete their job duties and who are genuine, honest and accountable. Accountability, willingness to learn and the ability to be flexible  is key and if you need clarity or support, just ask for it! 

Those in management are supportive and creative in finding solutions to barriers that come up. CHASI provides their employees with opportunity for growth not solely on education, but based on experience, work ethic and dedication. To me, that is more important than a college degree. Most of those in management have done the work from the ground up, And can relate to their employees because they’ve done the work themselves. I have worked in various roles within the Prevention & intervention department and the management team has been nothing but supportive and collaborative and have made every effort to help all of the employees in the department succeed. I began as SNC preventio case manager and only stepped away from the position to another HIV contract in part time position to be able to finish my masters degree, and recently received a promotion. There has been some turnover in our department, but in my opinion, the turnover is due to lack of dedication and accountability on behalf of those who fill the roles and not because of the positions themselves. The agency is up front with what is expected of each position. Being genuine and honest is a vital trait to possess when working at CHASI. 

Overall, CHASI is a great place to work and there is a feeling of comraderie among its employees and dedication to making the community a better place.

The good:
There is a lot of support, my supervisors are good, the director is kind, approachable, and very chill. The compensation and the insurance is excellent. They give quite a few bonuses and even gave a significant raise to all employees at the beginning of August because there was a surplus. They have regular awards and support. One front Desk worker is there to answer and schedule for you. Hybrid Remote. 3 days in person, 2 days remote after 3 months. If you have emergencies, they’ll understand and block the rest of your schedule. Good for parents and people with sick loved ones. Generous PTO time. They have a “quota”, but understand if you fall short for whatever reason. I have free parking for my car.

The bad: 
The equipment, such as your desktop computers are at least 10 years old, the laptops they give you are fairly cheap. The holidays you get are very few and are taken out of your PTO time. The lunchtime is only half an hour. You see almost every type of client, and many become high risk. They will drop an intake into an open slot. Most sessions are 30 minutes long (adults) and 45 (kids).

The Ugly:
The Administration above the director. They are money oriented- more concerned about covering themselves during Audit than patient care, and will threaten new stipulations. The Call Center is a nightmare and will assume an open spot, even 30 minutes before end of day is open and drop a client in there and not alert you. They will drop in a case that has no-showed multiple times, and not review the information. 


Overall good place due to the people  and pay but the upper Admin and call center are not favorable.

Work with HRHC for little less five years.  When I first went on board I was told HRHC was a warm and caring health center  which it was for a while until something went so wrong with management. I enjoyed my job but careful of those back stabbers. Don't trust your co-worker. Management doesn't  care about you as a person who work their tail off to make a living just to scrape pennies to pay your bills.   Yearly increase is a measly 3% which sometimes works out to less that 25 cents.  Seriously, who gives that kind of raise when CEO makes  over $500,000. Some employees will kiss $$$ just to be mgnt favorite. One mgnt thinks he's that all and more. This can be a very stressful and hostile environment to work in. Best part of my job was learning so much about what physicians has to do to become a professional MD's CNN, PA's etc. I made friends with so many of HRHC employees and still continue my relationship with them.  Theo is one of the best employee HRHC will ever have. Getting promoted is almost never happens unless you are related to someone in management.

No two days are the same at HRHCare. We can be very busy from the time we open the doors until closing. My team works well together with our communication. I've learned learned how to work under pressure and continue to be accurate with my work. I would say the hardest part of the job would be what we call our "rush time" and thats when we have a large number be patients waiting on line with either waiting to be checked in for their appointment,requesting medication refill,checking on medical forms that they have dropped off to be completed by their physician,etc the list goes on. I take it as being difficult because I know most  people do not want to have to stand for a long period of time. I may have patients who need to update their demographic information or insurance and those thing can take up time. But I always make sure to smile and apologize, and thank each patience for waiting. The most enjoyable part of my day is when a patient leaves happy and tell you thank you,they acknowledge you for anything you've helped them with. It happened to me today,a new patient told me he appreciated me for being so kinda and helpful,it makes you feel really good about your job.

Sun River Health has a really important mission and I love the work culture of this organization. Note that Sun River Health has 40 locations now (possibly more on the way) so each location may have a different vibe. I love my co-workers and like my direct manager, they are great and supportive. However, there are real communication issues from management and upper level leadership. Front lines staff are continuing to have work piled on with little direction or communication and no additional compensation. Folks are also getting burned out because of this. As the company continues to grow, I feel that it is becoming more corporate. Upper leadership need to shadow front lines staff to really get the full picture and appreciation for what we do. If applying, I would recommend reaching out to a current staff (via LinkedIn for example) and asking about the location you are applying to so you can get the full picture of what working there might be like. If you are new to the field, this may be a good way to get your 'foot in the door' but due to the lack of life sustaining compensation, probably not a long term thing. 

A typical day at work was set up all the treatment rooms with instruments for the different procedures. Called back patients took what was necessary such as X-rays also took vitals, let the patient know what the visit is for and what was going to happen, assisted the Dentist chair side through all procedures. I would break down the rooms after the procedures and set back up for the next patient I also kept up with the labs and sterilized and disinfected instruments. I had the privilege to learn everything on the job seeing first hand how to do the job. As for front end i answered phone calls scheduled appointments, dealt with payments after visits and also called patients to remind them of there appointments coming up. Inventory for the office and made sure everything was clean both back and front end. My favorite part about working in a dental office was meeting new patients everyday connecting with them and helping them.

I've worked at HRHCARE for over 5 years. I got promoted twice within the first 3 years. Love that there is opportunity for advancements. If you work hard and demonstrate your dedication and commitment to help others they will definitely take that into consideration when it involves growth within the organization. Everyday is not the same. Some days are more stressful then others but it all balances out. Very family oriented environment. Good job security. Great manager. She is very helpful and has helped me grow professionally. The organization is very mission driven. They try their best to help the patients not only in medical need but overall services such as housing and food. They do many events to help bring the community to our beautiful centers. Overall happy and very blessed with my job and the people I work with. One thing I would change is prior to higher administration making any operational changes suggestions should be asked to those who are actually working in the centers.

A complete waste of time, you will probably never advance or get promoted no matter what degree you acquire. The favoritism is disgusting, it clearly shows in management and staff. Some of the managers are straight out of college, none or limited actual field experience, so you get inadequate support from management or incorrect directives. Get ready to “figure it out”. 
Fake promises to clients, burnt out staff, unimaginable size caseloads. This medical organization is ran like a Business, work as much and as hard as you can with very little to no appreciation or compensation. They use a ridiculous chart approach towards monetary awards, which is completely unfair because each site has different rules and numbers to consider. Same site and same people getting awarded, big red flag. 
If you need job experience, it’s good for that but at what cost??? your mental health and family??? ask yourself is it worth it??? 
If you are looking for some good old azz kissing and mediocre management skills this is where you want to be. Don’t think HR is going to help, they don’t even know job tiles or responsibilities towards any employee duties, shameful. 

First and foremost you must be aware that company will not be upfront with you. They appear to value their funding over patient care and when you go to orientation you will recognize that trait right away. I had attended orientation everyday, 30 miles from my home for 3 weeks only to be let go on the last day of orientation. Their excuses for the let go seemed made up, After passing all the competencies, some lab tech who was reviewing our fingersticks, told me I was being let go because my nursing skillls were not up to their standards. Mind me now, this was revealed to me 3 weeks after the nursing competency section of the training. It didnt really phase me because the RN we had to shadow in our training filled my ear with HRHC horror stories which only exacerbated the negative gut feelings I was already having about this company. My reason for this posting is because Im currently working at a facility that is slated to be taken over by HRHC and the employees are bending my ear about this company and I have no problem telling them about my experience.

this place took me in a moment when I was rookie and I quit my first ever job in the medical field, and many places don't like newies, but this place give me the opportunity to be part of their team, first I was shy and insecure, even I was having doubts about my skills or myself, but with the time I recover from that bad experience in my first job, this places teach me a lot from many areas and departments. of course, sometimes it can be understaffed but we always find the way to solved. the providers are amazing and so sweet, you can feel a warm environment, my only complain are the big bosses because the nurse manager and coordinator sometimes they don't even have voice and they feel frustrated due to lack of help to help their team, in other words this company can help you in many ways, even certified you in programs where you can grow with them. i just can say I'm grateful they took me and give me the chance to demonstrate my whole potential and grateful for all the teaching and experience I gain, because I know when start school again all that will help me to keep growing in the medical field.
