We work 9-5 schedules and sometimes more depending on the time of year/pre-fest schedule. I have learned how to handle HUGE events, multiple venue management, volunteer management, multi-tasking like it's nobody's business, and handling difficult situations. Every member of management is unbelievable and it is obvious that there has been some great time and thought put forth to each one of them in their positions. I have never worked for better managers in any other job. I truly enjoy each of my co-workers as well and I have 0 complaints. The hardest part of the job is the seasonality and the inability to work year-round. EVERY part of the job is enjoyable.

If you volunteer for Sundance be prepared to work for free, get worthless movie vouchers that may / or may not get you a seat in a theater.  Better chance of using your voucher on an unpopular film. And a cheap coat that is not suitable for the mountain winter conditions.  So be sure to get a coat 2 sizes up from your regular size so that you can put layers underneath.  The managers in charge have 10 days to show off and try to impress someone in the industry for a chance at moving up the industry ladder, so be prepared to be steamrolled on a daily bases.  Volunteers are expected to perform at the highest level and be treated like dirt by power hungry supervisors.

I helped with the printer toner installs.  I helped users that needed to connect to the network printers.  I assisted with station setups.  I learned more about the Active Directory and how it is employed to help the function of the company.  

The management was good.  New managers were hired and displayed good professionalism.  

Co-workers were easy to get along with.  Very knowledgeable.  

The organization of the equipment made it difficult to work, but the new manager was working towards resolving that issue.  

Sundance gave us ticket vouchers.  That was one of the best perks of working there.  Also, parking was great for employees.

HR is a weakness at Sundance. Once you're in the door as FT Staff it is a culture of burnout. Management lacks a growth mindset and rules through fear and threats. If you complain you can be replaced by someone that is star-struck and willing to be paid (even) less. It's a churn and burn nonprofit that happens to have a strong grasp on presenting an external story well while behind the curtain is gaffers tape and sleep exhaustion.

What is the best part of working at the company?
everything, location, people, atmosphere and the exciting work and of course the festival!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
weather can be ruff in winter getting there.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
very positive culture, friendly atmosphere.

Developed and implemented an Internship program that reduced staffing costs.  Managed all event logistics for live TV feed at the Sundance Film Festival.  Coordinated vendors, explicit floor plans, signage, and delivery of materials, set-up/break down of venue, including ROI analysis.

Fast-paced work environment. Fun and relaxed, yet professional. Good balance of everything. Lower pay than average for a graphic design position, but compensation by experiences and free tickets to films.

The environment in which we work is extremely important to our success in our job. I believe the culture is a huge part of our company is viewed and operates. I have great respect for businesses that work together as a team and collaborate and support one another.

I would love to work for them again if I could. I would recommend better pay and benefits and job security. The overall Job Culture was amazing and It allowed me to feel as though I could work based on my mind not based on how I would come in dressed.
