This is an insurance company that truly cares about its people.  I have more than 30 years in this industry and have horror stories from my past companies and bad experiences before coming to Symmetry.  When I first found Symmetry, I thought it was too good to be true so I waited 18 months but watched it and talked with people who I knew who had started with them.  My only regret is that I waited to join forces with Symmetry!  Never have I seen any company, much less an insurance company, demonstrate such compassion for its people, the communities it serves and the families it touches.  
The negative reviews here are from people who either didn't work or those who thought money was going to fall from the sky.  There are no participation trophies here! This is a sales position and you MUST be willing to work but the money is wonderful and the opportunity to build a business for your family while protecting people is the best I have seen in all my years in insurance!  I have about two years now with Symmetry and have nothing but wonderful things to say about their system and the way the company opens the door for self-improvement. 
This is your business and there are costs involved with opening and operating any business.  You must be licensed which involves a few dollars but if you opened a retail store, you would have tens of thousands of dollars invested or more before you have a single customer.  Here, you can get your license for about $250...whereelse can you open a business with this much financial security and potential for such a piddly amount of money?  Yes, you by leads but only if you want to...but you have to have people to see so either buy leads or pester all of your friends and neighbors (see how far that gets you!).  Buying leads is the best way to have people to see so you can make your living.  A retail store has ongoing expenses like labor costs, electricity, water, heating and cooling, inventory, trash, and sewer, etc.  For heaven's sake, this is a business and there are small costs associated with it but the income you generate is many times the costs so they are paid for by your efforts and sales.
Following your Mentor is the best way to grow and get better in your new career.  Mentors are very different for this company over any other insurance company and their purpose is to help you transition into this new career.  It is up to you to follow your Mentor as we do not force our will on anyone.  We actually treat you like an adult so if you want to be successful to Symmetry level, you will seek the guidance of your Mentor rather than wait for your Mentor to track you down...we just don't do that!  If you need babysitting and hand-holding and can't follow us so you can learn and grow, you probably aren't the right fit for this wonderful opportunity  If you want to succeed, you will do your best to follow the example of your Mentor...simple as that!  
Most other insurance companies will require you to make a list of  200 to 300 family and friends, church members and acquaintances so your "trainer" has people to present to under the guise of training you.  The funny thing is that once your list has been seen, you are magically deemed "trained" and he moves on to the next new recruit and you don't have enough knowledge to support yourself.  What you do have is a group of mad relatives and friends and your "trainer" is now working with the next "super-star".  Symmetry doesn't do this!  
The ways other insurance companies train and work will not align with the way Symmetry trains and works so you must be willing to do it our way if you want our type of success.  If you are new to insurance, our Mentor program helps you learn how to do this and make money. 
Where else can you go and be in control of your future?  Punching a clock at a J-O-B to build someone else's dreams is what you have been taught to do but that is anything but certain or safe.  With Symmetry, if you want time off simply check your bank account to see if you have enough money to take time away...if you do, go have fun...if you don't, get back to work and make the money you need to have fun. If you want a raise or have your eye on a new car, do the math to see how many additional policies you must sell to buy what you want or make the additional money you desire...YOU are in control, not some boss.
Do not let a couple of negative remarks from people you don't know stop you from pursuing your own business and a fantastic future with Symmetry.  I would never consider leaving and only wish I had acted sooner to move to Symmetry Financial Group!  My future is in my control and I can build a business that will continue to pay me for the rest of my life no matter how much time I put in each week.  In December, I earned more than $70,000...income in one check to me on my personal efforts, no over-rides from anyone else, just me.  If I can do this in less than two years, anyone with a positive mind and willing to learn can do it too!

A typical day at work starts with morning impact and team motivation huddles. This is meant to get our mindset prepared to dial customers and to present to people that need protection for their families. We usually have a company training or master team call available to us daily to keep us informed, trained and coached to be our best. Evenings and weekends are really great for meeting clients, however this is depending on what type of schedule is chosen. There is no 'have to' in this business. Each agent 'gets to'  create a schedule to their liking. This mean that new mothers can work around a newborn's schedule. Caregivers can do this any time of the day while working to take care of loved ones. Retirees can have something rewarding to do for the community. Growing families can work out their own schedule to make it work to fit them. The flexibility is phenomenal. Parents do not have to miss their children's school activities. There is top notch software, marketing tools for business and recruiting, digital platforms, multiple trips to earn, rewards and bonuses that really set SFG above other companies. I have learned so much it is unbelievable. They teach how to manage your schedule around family. I have learned about myself through their personal development and coaching, which helps me be a better teammate, agent and it trickles over to me as a mother. I have learned to sharpen my sales and closing techniques. I have learned about multiple financial products. I have learned team building, how to facilitate meetings, how to train agents, leadership skills. I can keep going because there is so much. The management of the company is the best and they look out for the agents, because they were agents first and know what we need. They are always looking to make things better and cutting edge to keep us ahead of others in the industry. The hardest thing would be times we have to wait for our clients to make decisions, or if we are consistently making calls and we have not gotten as many appointments. But...that comes with sales. There are millions of people we can help so we will never be out of leads or people to help. Consistency means that the sales will come. We have support with this and the income potential is abundant. There are young people that come in and do phenomenal. Seasoned agents do well. We have a mix of ages and with it all blended together it works well because we all help each other. The truly enjoyable part of the job is what SFG calls association. We are connected and many agents become like family. We are like-minded, supportive and very encouraging to one another. The culture is fun, exciting and very welcoming. New agents are taken into the fold and treated with respect and not left to feel alone and reluctant. We help build each other in every area and ultimately push one another to promotions and to have the freedom of time and  unlimited income. Support and encouragement are big in this company. 

Here is the deal. I have been with Symmetry for a little over a year. It is not a perfect company, but it is a great company filled with people that actually care about you and your business. Symmetry has two basic divisions. The independent agents and the corporate environment. I can't really speak for the corporate side other than a tour which was incredibly focused on the community. 

My experience is on the side of the independent agents. You are actually independent so you sink or swim by your own tenacity, dedication, skill, and ability to connect with clients. It is not a career for everyone but for those that excel at it then it is pretty awesome.

PROS
Commission based
It is 100% commission based so that means that you have the ability to make a considerable income based off your work. I personally love that I am compensated by the carrier by helping my clients. 

People come first
Yes it means that you have to put up with people. Some clients are terrific. Others are just terrible. You know where else that occurs? Everywhere. People are a mixed lot. Some are wonderful and some are not. 

Work anywhere from anywhere
You can pick the areas you want to work, the lead generation system that you want to work, and work as much or as little as you chose to work. Some people do not like this. They want a  job that has guarantees. They do not like the independence and the great thing is you can work in insurance at a call center or a captive agency. Symmetry thankfully is not that type of opportunity. Instead, it is a place where people that thrive on independence can excel. 

Challenge
It is not easy emotional work but it is worth it. I enjoy being an insurance broker. I enjoy the challenge of what each unknown call brings.  I support a family of six on it. If you bet on yourself and can work towards your goals than 
 success in this opportunity is pretty awesome. 

Promotion
If you have a building mindset then you can make a pretty decent living and work towards passive income. I personally like the idea of building a legacy for my family that can outlast me. 

CONS
Unrealistic expectations. This isn't a get rich quick scheme. Some people may be led to believing that it is all sunshine and roses. The reality is that sometimes those roses have some painful thorns and the sun can be uncomfortably hot. If you think this is 90 days and you will be driving a Maserati then that is probably unrealistic unless you happen to have the proverbial stars align. 

Patience 
If you are not a person that can wait sometimes weeks to get something resolved then this can be super frustrating becomes sometimes your clients have complicated medical histories. That slows time for carriers to approve or deny. 

Chargebacks
Sometimes people buy a policy then cancel it and you get a charge back. This is fair since you are getting paid upfront for a years worth of work but it can really stink when you've written a good policy but it ends up later becoming a charge back. You have to always leave a buffer and budget your business well but that is basic business practice but agents that do not factor this in can ruin their business quickly.

Economic factors
As the economy fluctuates so does the ability for potential clients buying insurance. This makes it extremely challenging depending on the market that you are working.

The work at Symmetry is simple but not hard.  The truth of the matter is yes, you have to have a license - but once your licensed you can work at any insurance company - anywhere. You can be licensed in multiple states.

If you buy old leads be prepared to make more calls then if you were to buy the more expensive newer leads. IF you are consistent and disciplined enough, you have the opportunity to make a lot of good money. 

But the thing is  - you have to be motivated and actually do the work. You get paid on commission with the possibility of commission raises depending on your work ethic every two months. 

Very positive culture, very supportive. Sometimes you get a bad seed that sends a negative image but overall you could not work with a better group of people. 

Heres how it works. 
Sitting knee-cap to kneecap with 10 to 15 families a week will yield in about 6 to 10 applications. Once those are issued and paid you get a deposit straight into your bank within 24 hours of the first premium getting paid.  However that means you have to do the work to get there. 

The oldest and cheapest leads be prepared to make 3x the phone calls to get 1 appointment. The freshest leads - you'll be able to book much more. 

You net income beyond expenses for your business (which is Gas and Leads) you can make about 2500 a week just starting out at the lowest commission level which is 60%. 

Symmetry also focuses on self development and personal growth. It's part of the reason why we have such a positive culture. 

Also we have a benefit now where Symmetry will pay for 1 year worth of life insurance for you with a HUGE face amount.

The culture here at Symmetry is truly one of a kind! Everyone is so positive and supportive! The number one value is "people matter, relationships come first", and they definitely embody this. I have been very fortunate to have an amazing upline and baseshop, full of agents who are always willing to offer support; regardless of whether they financially benefit directly or not. I understand others have had less positive experiences with their uplines; this has nothing to do with Symmetry and I guarantee you can always find someone else to mentor you if you just ask (I have seen several agents ask my mentor to work with them, and he has been more than happy to help). 

This is absolutely a place where you can build your own business and gain the financial and time freedom we all dream of. That being said, it is STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS!! It requires effort, dedication, investment, and patience. They are completely transparent about this from the start...At first, I did not follow the system and I was not successful! After several months of this, I realized I either needed to jump in 100% and give it my all, or move on. I have seen how amazing this opportunity is and I simply could not bring myself to quit without giving it everything I have. And I'm so incredibly glad I did!!! The system does work when you work it! 

The other thing I want to say is that the training here is FANTASTIC!!! I have never done sales before so I had no idea how to sell. The vast majority of the training is on HOW to sell!! Every other sales position I have ever heard of only teaches you about the products/services, not HOW to actually sell them. Symmetry is a once in a lifetime opportunity for those who are willing to bet on themselves and put in the work to succeed. 

the people are very nice and very helpful. they want to see you succeed BECAUSE they will not succeed if you do not so dont mistake this as true deep down love for the person, it is driven by their desire to make money....and thats fine because we can all be this way to some degree. They are very responsive and eager to help until you tell them this is not for you then they just dont reply to any of your communications, for instance "is there anything i need to do or sign to leave the company?" no reply - i asked the question via text and email multiple times and no one bothered to answer so their "love" for you is fake. i called all the carriers myself and the state board to ensure i did everything i was supposed to in order to be released from the company.

The company will try to sell you on the exclusiveness of their leads. they are not exclusive to the company, the lead info goes out to multiple insurance brokerages so its not much different from cold calling bc you will speak to ppl who will advise their refi was 4 yrs ago and they are not sure why we are still trying to sell the mortgage protection insurance after so much time has passed and which they have already been signed up with for a long time. 

the commissions  - they have all these national calls going over how great their commission structure is but they fail to mention that not all products will pay out at the same commission level. You will figure this out the hard way with your first written policy...or like with me, i was told 4 policies written per week will average around $2500, i sold 4 policies in one meeting and my commissions between all 4 was $400...that is a far cry from $2500 its not even close.

Let me preface this by saying that I do not work for this organization, I just completed my final round of interviews.  If this review gets removed based on this information, that's ok.  But here's what I've learned.

This MLM group touts flexible schedule, work from home, and the harder you work, the more money you'll get.  That's very attractive, even for a commission-only work place.  However, what they do not tell you in your initial interview is that you'll have to pay to be a registered insurance agent in whatever states you want to do business in.  They've worked out a "discount" with some organization for you to go through the training and only pay about 50% of what is usually charged.  So you're paying to get licensed - no big deal, right?  

Next, they spell out the money you could make, up to $200k annually depending on the work you put in.  

Finally, they tell you that you need to pay for every lead.  Anywhere from $1-$30/lead.  The $1 leads are old and cold, the $30 leads are new.  During my final interview, I asked how they spend the money they make on leads, hoping that it would be spent on marketing and bringing in new leads.  I searched this org extensively and there is no online marketing being done as far as I can tell.  If you google symmetry financial group, they'll come up in your search, but not as an ad to the end user.  As far as I can tell, there's no active marketing being done.  I just wonder how those funds that their 7,000 independent agents buying leads at $30/each are being spent.  I'm guessing it's not on advertising/bringing in new leads.  

I've been working with this group for 7 months. It's a company culture unlike any I've experienced before. The quality of people and their diverse experience makes for a truly innovative and creative environment. This is not your typical insurance/financial group.
The owners believe in staying connected and are on at least one of the 3 weekly conference calls. They recommend you take advantage of these calls, but they're not mandatory. However, the most successful people in the company share on these calls.... I can learn from the best because they give back to those who are interested. Successful people here are grateful and sincere. It's motivating.
If you are a self-starter, committed to integrity, can deal with issues in a positive way, want to help others (inside and outside the company), and commit to work hard to build your business, this company should be your dream come true. If you consider yourself an "employee" who needs a predetermined set paycheck, go elsewhere. If you need to be held accountable, your manager may do that on request, but not as a rule. 
It's your business, not the company's. It comes without strings or franchise fees. But, they make available to you just about everything you'll need to succeed, along with the road map. I only recommend to those who don't need to be managed and are looking for a great opportunity with unlimited potential.

There are companies to work for and there are companies to grow with. At Symmetry, you find yourself striving for something other than the typical 9-5. You experience that there is more; the life you have always wanted is no longer a hazy dream but a reality waiting to happen-by you. The best part? You won't be doing it alone.
Opportunities like this don't happen every day but when you realize they do exist, you run, with a force to take it. If you are a hard worker and if you know that you are capable of more but are restrained by the chains of corporate America, this is for you. If you are a dreamer, tired of dreaming and ready to create a life with time and money, this is for you. If you are weary of renting yourself out to a company that pays the smallest of dues, this is for you. 
At SFG, you can not only own your own business, if you decide to, but you learn to own yourself. To stretch is to grow, to fail to succeed. You will live both. This is real. The opportunity, the company, the people. But it isn't easy… but maybe that's the best part. You will want to quit, at one point or another… you will cry, even, but what you won't do is regret the journey.
When you listen to counsel and implement what you learn, you will find yourself in a place that you never imagined. All those dreams? You know, they will no longer be trapped in your thoughts for a rainy day, but released into reality.

Their recruiting videos talk about how their lead system brings the client to you. However, the newest "A" leads are distributed by the local agency manager. It is up to him/her to decide who gets these leads.Competition is fierce and you may or may not get them. The promise is that once you write three pieces of business you get "A" leads. This was not my experience at all.

Agents may purchase older leads (resold leads) whenever they want, without any limits. In my experience, these leads have been called to death. Many of the people are tired of the calls and say they have asked numerous times not to be called again.Also, you are expected to buy these leads from day one, which is expensive.

Training is self guided by watching videos or listening to audio, reading books, etc. Their philosophy is Massive Action Constant Correction, which means: do a lot and learn from your mistakes. While my immediate upline was available for phone consultations, one-on-one training was practically non-existent.

Commissions are low compared to industry averages.

This company will NOTgive you a release to work with other IMO's if you decide to leave. Make sure this is where you want to work before signing anything, otherwise you will need to wait six months before working with another insurance organization.
