The branch that I work for is fairly new. I have experienced constant miscommunications, and there are always scheduling conflicts. The pay never seems to be correct although I've never had an issue with talem and direct deposit. I've never met any of my co workers, and I hardly ever hear from my manager. I assume there is a high turnover rate due to the frequency of calls I get per week asking if I will fill in for another caregiver. They aren't good about scheduling, they will assign you a client in castle rock and expect you to be in the springs for another client within 30 minutes of your first shift. They have also illegally assigned unqualified and uncertified caregivers to use skilled equipment like hoyer lifts. Over all, my experience with talem home care have been terrible.

The hardest part of the job is recognizing the difference between your "boss": the Talem manager, the patient him/herself, or their family members who paid for the service, and following suit appropriately without upsetting anyone... basically having good boundaries and integrity 24/7. They require very little (very simple) EMR charting, which is SO appreciated. Management and office staff are ALL so very helpful, kind and understanding. They all work hard to ensure the right fit for caregiver and client/family, with additional flexibility surrounding your own work availability and client preferences, when feasible. Great company, will go back, just needed some time off work for an illness at that time, several years ago now. 

I liked this job before Jessica was my boss. I loved my clients and helping people. Jessica and her staff are so aligned with what I believe in. Training, professional development, integrity,  inclusive policies, proactive rather than just reactive management. Since Jessica, my paychecks are correct. Expectations are clear. I have the support I need so I can care for others. My paychecks are correct and on time. I get bonuses for taking last minute shifts. 

My clients were super sweet and very helpful with things that needed to be done. Although, after working with this company, are seeking alternative companies due to the lack of communication with the management staff. Management is the most stuck-up people I've ever met. DO NOT WORK HERE!! You have better options elsewhere. They feel as though they are always entitled to your time with pay that does not equal the amount of work you do. They expect you to know complicated medical terms and operations with very little training (a 3 hr movie). The urgent cares for their workers comp is very familiar with them so that's a red flag. If this isn't enough to deter you from working here, I don't know what else to tell you. 

Since the transition to new ownership, the integrity and professionalism of this company have significantly declined.

There is clear favoritism shown toward certain clients and caregivers, while others are held to different standards. Company policies are not applied consistently or fairly across employees, creating a hostile and uncomfortable work environment.

Leadership sets the tone for a workplace, and unfortunately, the new ownership has demonstrated a lack of integrity, transparency, and respect for staff. I would strongly caution anyone considering employment here, or trusting this agency with your loved ones care


YoYou should know that no work day at Talem Home Care are ever the same, considering you'll be caring for and attending different residents homes. You as the caretaker should always remember to handle your attitude and body language in a professional manner, show respect to the resident at all times and respect their wishes. Just be sure to be patient and acknowledge that they too have feelings that we may not quite understand.

I was offered $1 above starting wage for Caregivers due to having prior experience.  However at the beginning of 2022 when it became state law that caregivers receive a minimum of $15/hr all their caregivers with less experience and brand new hires we’re getting the same amount as I was and they were unwilling to give me a raise.

I also had a very difficult time getting full-time hours. My clients were constantly lowering their hours and changing things around and the office always told me they had no other clients to give me to get me the amount of hours that I needed.

When I first started with this company I had a great attitude about the office staff and the way things were ran, but that has changed for the worst. You or the clients can call multiple times, and either they do not answer or they do not return your call. If you inform the office of things that need to change or be dealt with it seems to go in one ear and out the other. It just seems like they are more concerned about the money they are bringing in, then the well being of the clients, their families, and the caregivers.

Talem will work you to death if you let them, I also have had the Administrator recently tell me to do things that I know aren't medicaid friendly.  I wouldn't work for this company if I were anyone looking for a homecare place to work for. Go somewhere else, there are plenty of jobs out there.

I worked with talem years ago before the management change and they were great. I started working with them again recently and ohhhh boy the change is not good. I didn’t feel appreciated, the management didn’t keep their word, they were rude at times and honestly you can tell that the new management doesn’t know what they are doing. It’s sad to see them change for the worse.
