What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
$10 per hour plus horrible commissions structure. So if the carrier pays 15% commission, the agency gets 12% and you get the rest. They charge agency fees which they get 60% of and agent gets the rest. This is by far the worst commission I ever seen in the Insurance industry. They changed their commission structure three times in the past year because agents were making too much money and they claim that Leads are costing more, but they cut back on radio and text leads. The owner and upper management are straight greedy and if you want to make 100k, you have to sell 30 policies per week off the 20 to 30 leads you get a week. You do the math.
Good leads in favorable zip codes are passed out to their favorites and family members, not randomly like they say. 
Managers look stressed and never follow-up like they say in coaching.

Pressure to perform, but underpaid for your performance.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very fast paced and stressful.

Compensation plan is good, if it didn’t change every 3 months. Insurance in Texas is at an all time high in every region. Can’t give out specific numbers but if the office is making 8 figures in additional premium simply because the market is changing and every company has increases in premium, the office is at an all time high in revenue, yet you want to drop commissions not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES IN A 10 MONTH PERIOD! So on top of the additional revenue, you’re cutting employees wages = more money for the higher ups. They try to sneak it past you as well acting as if it’s not a pay cut, it’s a pay cut. There is a reason why so many agents are leaving the company. You simply are not valued and your input does not matter. 90% of the agents know significantly more than the directors, it’s almost comical. They say they don’t like to micro manage, but following those exact words they start micromanage. Best thing about the company is no cold calling and all hot leads. Be wary of the advertisements sent out though. They still utilize estimated premiums from 2 years ago and aren’t accurately reflected on any quotes they send out.

While your co-workers are amazing people just trying to make a living, middle management creates a hostile, gaslighting-heavy environment. They will tell you one thing face to face and then deny it completely in meetings. There is no honesty — just self-preservation and blame-shifting.

There’s micromanagement instead of coaching, and when mistakes happen (even minor ones), you’ll likely be spoken down to or yelled at in front of others. The work culture punishes feedback and rewards silence. And yes, favoritism is real.

Due to constant turnover, you’ll also be expected to handle frustrated clients left behind by others who’ve quit. The company often goes with low-cost carriers, which leads to claim issues and angry clients, putting more pressure on reps without providing the support to solve those issues.

To management: The way you treat people will come back to bite you. Culture is everything, and this one is broken.

I started at this company extremely excited and wanting to love this place. That got completely shot down after actually starting the job. If you're new to insurance run far far away from this place. They sell you a world of dreams and have so many nice things to say about this job when hired, but you soon understand that the people here are overworked, underpaid, neglected by management, and are constantly crucified for just doing their job but not "good enough". The training process was one of the most confusing, overwhelming, fast-paced, not helpful processes I have been through. But that might be because of who the trainer is. The poor work environment makes it hard to come to work and want to sell policies. You get to work and all you think about is going back home. Management's extremely high expectations make it impossible to excel and be proud of yourself. Management offers no help if you need it, they only think of you as a number and as someone who makes them money, which is why so many people quit. Please apply somewhere else, I cannot get these last months Ive wasted back. 

This company is relatively new (about 5-6 years old) so they have plenty to learn. However, the beauty of this is you get to learn about the insurance industry fairly quickly if you apply yourself. Management definitely needs improvement; especially on the service end. Don’t expect management to be knowledgeable on insurance terms because they were unlicensed at the time I was there (which is extremely unsettling to me). The communication between the departments were subpar and no one ever seem to really be on the same page.  They offer no bonuses for the service team nor pay raises. They also expected the little people they do have in the service team to complete these tasks, which are extremely easy to do, yet time consuming. It’s unreasonable to expect you to narrow down 1.5K task (not exaggerating) and handle high volume calls at the same time. I truly hope they considered my complaints I expressed to them prior to leaving with my new job. TGS has extreme potential, they just need to listen to their employees and increase the moral. The turnover rate is extremely too high. 

I worked at this company in early 2022 & at first things seemed to be going okay. The management seemed like they actually cared about wanting to offer support & help you learn & grow within the company. I learned very quickly that they are nothing but MESSY individuals. That goes from the management down to other insurance agents. They all love to gossip & talk poorly about anyone who isn't performing well. There is nothing confidential or professional about them. They don't pay as well as they say either. If you perform well in one pay period, you get paid the minimum tier of what the pay structure is. If you underperform the following pay period, they deduct your pay. They lie to their customers about the "Agency Fee" stating that they will only pay that fee one time. When in reality, they pay it each time they renew their policy with another carrier. They were horrible to work for & with.

They expect the sales people to do more work for the same pay and have a turnover in the service team also. Don't expect any raises. When you're having down weeks your check will make you depressed as the hourly wage is very low. I contemplated quitting many times before I left as I tried to work harder to do more but they didn't appreciate it.

Poorly managed business which I was told was only about 2 years old so maybe they will make some changes moving forward.

People keep quitting and going to other employers or they get fired randomly. Very little stability in the long term. The benefits are very poor with high deductible plan only.

Good place to learn and move on to another more organized company and that's the decision I made even though I liked the other salespeople I worked with.

They hire almost anyone so getting a job will be easy....good luck ya'll!

TGS Insurance is a marketing company that runs a call center specializing in packing people into policies for less money than they currently pay regardless of how much coverage is cut or how much financial responsibility is shifted to the customer. They charge a fee to do so. Honesty and professionalism are not rewarded. Managers have no insurance experience, employees are given little training other than how to minimize coverage and get to the best price. Good agents should look somewhere else as you are expected to sell everything you can disregarding ethics and common sense for a buck even when it might roll back.

OK - I'm not the most veteran here, but in my short time it's been really exciting to see the pace, the action that happens here.  The day literally flies by!  It's an interesting blend of traditional agency work helping place peoples risk with the right coverages and carriers and new tech taht brings in people that were getting abused in the marketplace.  We're writing volumes of policies that are unheard of.  As my book of leads fills, my check is popping.  

They are still working through the selling tools and processes to make it easier to place that much business, but I see no shortage of resources being put to making it super efficient.  Not 100% yet, can't wait to see where we go!

TGS Insurance is a very fast paced environment with a lot of rewards for those are willing to work for it!

We went from a 2 story 90's style building off 290 to the 10th floor of Tower 3 in the energy corridor. The level up is crazy.

Coming from an insurance background definitely helped me excel in role at TGS Insurance but sales skills is far more important. Anyone with training in both should do well as well.

Management is firm but fair. Just hold yourself accountable and be able to communicate effectively.

Hardest part of the job is servicing all the accounts you will write.

All the agents here are very hospitable but hard working.

Executives are very hands on with the day to day.
