The Caring For Family of Companies

I worked for this company for several years and saw it go through multiple phases of growth and restructuring. In my experience, that growth came at the expense of employees.  Roles, reporting structures, and expectations changed frequently, leaving employees scrambling to understand their duties with little clarity or support.

What was especially frustrating was hearing leadership repeatedly frame the poor culture, instability, and treatment of employees as simply “part of being a growing company.” In my opinion, that is not a valid excuse. Many growing companies still manage to treat employees ethically, communicate honestly, and support people through difficult life events or absences. Growth does not require creating an environment where employees feel disposable.

A major concern for me was how employees seemed to be treated when they were in vulnerable moments. There were times when it felt like employees who needed leave or support did not return to a workplace that felt stable, supportive, or fair - or sometimes return at all. That created a culture of fear rather than trust.

Another difficult aspect was the lack of consistency. Duties could shift quickly, resources often did not match expectations, and improvement plans sometimes felt tied to goals that were not realistically supported. Instead of helping employees succeed, the environment can feel like one where people were easily pushed out.

The pay and benefits were some of the better parts of working here. Unfortunately, those positives were overshadowed by the constant uncertainty. Even employees who built major systems, supported critical operations, or created infrastructure important to the business could be gone with little or no warning.

For most of my time there, I felt somewhat shielded from the instability and many of the issues affecting others. Looking back, that sense of security felt more conditional than genuine. Over time, I came to feel that support within the organization was uneven, especially when broader concerns about culture, ethics, and leadership were raised too directly.

For prospective employees, this may be a place to upskill and strengthen your resume, but I would strongly encourage you to use that time wisely, maintain the relationships you build, and make sure you are always in a position to move on if needed. In my experience, employees could get caught in the instability of the organization and find themselves pushed out during some of the most vulnerable times in their lives.

I do not recommend working at Caring for Others if you are looking for stability, trust, or healthy leadership. The company has been around for almost 20 years, but still operates with a very unstable and reactive culture. Leadership changes direction frequently, restructures often, and employees are discarded when priorities shift.

The owners are overly involved in day-to-day decisions and micromanage rather than empower people to do their jobs. Employees are not treated with respect, and the overall culture is negative and unsupportive. Leadership lacks clear business direction and does not create an environment where people can succeed long-term.

Turnover is a major issue, and the average tenure is just over 1 year, which is very short for a company that has been in business this long. That says a lot about the culture. There are good people within the organization, but the leadership style and constant changes make it difficult to build anything sustainable.


 Working at Caring for Family of Companies was a deeply disappointing experience. Despite their slogan about promoting a “life well lived,” the reality is far from supportive. The company enforces strict, isolating policies that discourage even casual social interactions among employees, creating a tense and disconnected work environment.

Promises of growth and development are largely empty, with little room for advancement and a severe lack of genuine support for career progression. Work-life balance is virtually nonexistent, with leadership often setting unrealistic expectations without the resources to back them up.

Leadership’s actions frequently contradict the values they promote, creating a culture where employees are left feeling undervalued and demoralized.

If you’re seeking a workplace that truly invests in its people, fosters a supportive culture, and respects the dignity of its team members, this is likely not the right place for you.

I learned is the importance of patience, communication, and following procedures carefully to ensure client safety and dignity. I also learned how detailed documentation and teamwork are essential in healthcare settings.
Management seems organized and focused on compliance and resident care, with clear expectations for staff and trainees. Workplace culture feels supportive and team-based, with an emphasis on respect for both clients and coworkers.
The hardest part of the job is absorbing a lot of new information quickly while staying confident in a fast-paced environment. The most enjoyable part is interacting with residents and seeing how compassionate care can positively impact their daily lives.

I love the work. It is affirming and impactful. 
The schedule is curated to fit one's availability. And scheduling are very hard workers, and excellent communicators. Management is great, easy to talk to, very helpful and reliable. Workplace culture is healthy and positive. It also encourages growth in experience, knowledge, and capability.  The hardest part of the job is the unkown with clients somedays will be quite exhausting. Self care is essential to be able to do work well, and provide the best care to all clients. The most enjoyable part is getting to know amazing people and hear their life stories. It is a joy to help beautiful people in their day to day, and provide friendship when it is wanted. 

A typical day of work is arriving at a clients house and clean,maybe cook,provide companionship.I have learned to be more patient and compassionate towards people.Management is good they reply asap and provide feedback to you and let you choose your schedule and move it around to fit your needs and wants. Workplace culture is great they push providing great care to every client and they have great values.The hardest part about the job is finding your place with clients you receive and learning how every one likes certain things. The most enjoyable part of the job is helping people in tough situations and seeing your work pay off and improve people’s lives.

This is a great company to work for.  Owner/CEO is family oriented, family focused, and strives to provide an excellent working environment.  He will do everything possible to provide the best possible compensation and benefits for employees.  Office staff is well trained, committed to excellence and have great sense of humor, needed in this fast paced environment.  The most enjoyable part of the job is providing care for the elderly and disabled, and enabling them to remain in their homes.  The hardest part of the job is not being able to provide care for everyone that needs it.  In this job I have been able to enhance my management and leadership skills, while learning new technology while honing my current skills.

I’ve worked for Caring for Others for 3 years and have thoroughly enjoyed working for them. The hours are flexible to your daily life, and if you are ever in need of more/less hours the office is always willing to help to work with whatever your needs are. The hardest part, especially if it’s your first time caregiving, is that you have to be patient and learn to adjust with every client. The clients deepened on us so they can live out their lives like everyone else, but not every client is the same. You have to be able to learn and adapt to each client’s needs and behaviors. That being said, that  is what is also amazing about this job. With such a diverse group of clients you get to learn as you go, and with each client you truly grow as a person. 

Working for caring for the coast has been an amazing experience since I joined the team where I feel everyone works together so well to ensure everyone feels welcome and can enjoy their time at work.  I get to go to people homes and help them throughout their day achieve tasks they couldn’t without assistance and I love it.  Getting to help people is something I’ve always loved so getting to do it as an occupation is an outstanding experience.  I’ve learned so much through my short time working with my different clients and the hardest part of the job is maintaining a professional relationship and not getting too attached to your clients as anything can happen.  This has by far been the best experience with a job I’ve ever had and highly recommend giving it a shot!

This company prides themselves on being “family first” and having such a great work culture. They don’t. The pay is very good! The benefits are decent. The rest, is a nightmare. You are constantly micromanaged. Processes change constantly. Communication between coworkers is frowned upon. How can you collaborate or effectively grow when you’re not allowed to communicate with other teams? The owners are controlling and cannot or will not allow their managers to manage. On the rare and brief occasions that they do - things are better. When you ask for clarification, you get 4 different answers within a week. The culture is not what you’re sold upon hire, at all. Although HR has been attempting to change this, it isn’t sticking.
