The Loft Rehabilitation and Nursing

Patients are not properly turned in order to prevent skin breakdown. Which, is proven by, the increasing number of wound treatments needed to be performed on the residents. And the nurses not doing treatments when they should be done. I reported this several times to the wound care nurse, and nothing improved. 
The staff working on the floor is very clique orientated, and has terrible teamwork skills, and are very unprofessional. This was demonstrated, and heard by the administrator themselves and nothing was done about it.  The CNA's being the worst at teamwork on certain shifts. Basic nursing procedures not being performed on the residents to prevent poor quality of life. 
Management does not care about right from wrong when it comes to lower ranking employees. You can be falsely accused of things, and receive nothing as proof of what the allegations were or who they were made by, which creates a hostile work environment. You can be promoted, and demoted, based on these allegations of your work performance. All while, a member of Management tells you several times prior, that they know your coworkers are lying on you and not happy you were chosen for a lead position. Management does not help on the floor when the CNA's and nurses are short staffed. But they ask more work of you at the same time.  The Administrator can be seen working on the floor to help the CNA'S from time to time but never the DON. 
The place is ran very poorly in every way.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The residents are truly the best part of the job, along with a couple of supportive coworkers who genuinely care and made the days go by easier.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part was the heavy workload due to short staffing and being expected to handle multiple responsibilities at once. I also felt there was little flexibility and inconsistent expectations, along with frequent expectations to assist in other departments and take on tasks outside of my primary role, which added to the overall stress.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment felt toxic and unprofessional the majority of the time, with frequent gossip and a lack of trust within management and staff. While there were a few supportive individuals, overall communication and consistency were poor, and it often felt like a stressful environment where you had to be careful about what you said or who you trusted. It often felt like you were walking on eggshells.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Each day could look different depending on staffing and overall needs of the facility, with a fast-paced and changing workload.

This company believes in fostering a culture of fear and negativity to achieve their objectives and meet deadlines. Some individuals display blatant disrespect, while the majority could benefit from substantial emotional intelligence training. They employ gaslighting and manipulation tactics, which ultimately alienates compassionate staff members who genuinely care for patients and families. Compassion in such a demanding field should be highly appreciated.

Some advice to management: Emotional intelligence refers to a person's ability to recognize, understand, manage, and effectively use their own emotions and the emotions of others. It involves being aware of one's emotions and those of others, as well as using this awareness to navigate social interactions, build strong relationships, and make informed decisions. Emotional intelligence encompasses skills such as empathy, self-awareness, emotional regulation, interpersonal communication, and the ability to handle interpersonal conflicts and challenges with sensitivity and understanding. It plays a crucial role in personal and professional success, as it contributes to effective communication, teamwork, and overall well-being.

I loved taking care of the residents, but the staff made it miserable to work there. There were good staff but they began leaving and what was left were problematic people who made it impossible to work there. I would be in charge of almost 40 people on my own when the other person wouldn't show up. And I felt over worked because apart from having co-workers who wouldn't show up, having two nursing assistants wasn't enough to take care of the amount of residents there were in each section. I would often start my shift duties late for having to clean up after the previous shift. Every now and then we'd run out of supplies and would have to do what it took to have some type of supply to do our work. This doesn't only affect the CNAs or Nurses, it'd sadly also affect the residents. I wish management would be more efficient and organized in this work place. 

The only good part of this job was meeting great Nurses who gave me great future advice and who would help me when I needed the help. I will say, I think even the Nurses' jobs were hard at points when the CNAs had it hard. Without a doubt this place made the nice caring workers leave. But I'm sure people that are working there as of now wouldn't say so.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The residents were the best part of working at the Loft.  Corporate has NO interest in serving their residents or supporting their staff.  I worked here for 4 years and it got worse vs better as time went on.  Staging is an issue everywhere and they don’t care only that expectations don’t waiver.  Expectations are difficult to uphold when there’s no staff.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No staff and hiring process is too long.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Environment became “everyone is replaceable”, left you feeling like a warm body.  What staff was available to work were more interested in being on their phone, socializing and little to no productivity.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Constantly filling in for call offs little to no time to do my own work sometimes doing the work of 2-3 missing employees.

A typical day begins with receiving report, as well as counting Narcotics. Once that is completed I start my rounds assessing Vital signs on Residents who have  experienced recent falls, are on Antibiotics, or who have had Acute changes from their Physical baseline. I review any new orders to ensure accurrecy in the entering of the order.  I contact the on-call if a emergent situation occurs, and if need arises I send out the person to an Acute Care Facility for further Evaluation and treatment if necessary. I also prepare documents for my clientele for outside appointments as well as labs.I have been the only Nurse in a Sixty-eight bed facility, and managed quite well. The workplace culture needs improvement, as in most places of employment. The most enjoyable part of my job are the people in whom I serve.

A typical workday was always waiting for a department to do their job so you and do yours. I have learned to value what i have to offer when the ones in management could not see my value. The workplace culture is very toxic and unprofessional. The hardest part of my job was dealing with always running behind because no one in management wanted to fix the problems just let the run wild. The only thing I can say is I enjoyed being around the residents. Thats the only thing I miss about that place. They have way too much favoritism. Only believing one side of the story. Also being yelled at by the administrator in front of staff and residents. 

Working here has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The leadership team fosters a culture of compassion, respect, and teamwork, which truly reflects the values of healthcare. Colleagues are supportive and collaborative, always willing to share knowledge and lend a hand during busy shifts. The organization prioritizes patient care without compromising staff well-being, offering flexible scheduling, ongoing training, and mental health resources. Communication is transparent, and feedback is valued, making everyone feel heard and appreciated. This is a place where both patients and employees are genuinely cared for, and I’m proud to be part of such a dedicated team.

HR management is a revolving door.  Nursing staff are titled oriented literally. They feel their professional title means that they can abuse their authority.  All staff needs to be honored regardless of status.  Nurses need to be reprimanded for their poor mannerism and mal behavior.   Shift scheduling shows extreme favoritism and is not delegated fairly.  Taking accountability is not familiar with the Loft.  Kitchen staff is poorly managed and short of staff.  They need to listen to the people who are actually on the floor doing the labor, not the ones sitting in offices, behind the desks, or only giving orders.

The CNAs I got to meet with lucky to have made a special bond with the residents

Getting switch to another hall after completing half your work on one heavy hall

Busy I do feel communication at the job was very well a place I would return to

Busy on your feet filled with laughs and jokes if your with the right work crew that day some nurses are party downers
