There are wonderful residents here who are the reason I stayed as long as I did. The one thing I cannot stress enough is corporate and managements lack of safety. I had very little prior experience, no licensing, no certifications, and did not know how to take vitals. Yet it was okay for me to work alone and I was responsible for 70+ residents. Sometimes without a nurse. The care level is pretty bad as there are two assists and no equipment and 11+ wheelchairs. The two days of orientation were very misleading and the one week of training they had me with people that had only been there a couple of months also never in the same place 1 day on each floor + memory care units. I felt very unprepared. The type of care felt unnatural and rushed and there was a ridiculous amount of pressure from other shifts. It feels like a “money hungry” corporation. We had 3 different forms of charting/reports to do everyday (online charting, shift report, and a report for our resident care director). Management does not take your feedback or concerns seriously and they never take responsibility and ask if they’re the problem. They blame the people who leave by saying “oh they weren’t hard workers” or “they didn’t care”. The pay was okay could’ve been better for the amount of work the employees put in, when I was expected to work x2 I never got an incentive. There was a lack of communication and some new rule we must follow everyday. Overall negative space as only our mistakes would be noticed and our achievements go unnoticed. There are a couple of helpful and good employees.  When you are able to sit down and have conversations and actually get to know the residents it’s rewarding. This was my personal experience. If you are licensed, have a good heart, strong willed, and don’t mind the amount of responsibility I recommend you work here they need all the help they can get. For newer caregivers I don’t recommend. 

Loved the residents. No matter how much you work for management it’s never enough. They say they want to know and change things, but it never goes anywhere when you speak up. They have one person working two med carts leaving two floors with only two employees to care for all the residents. The work load is ridiculously long and no matter how often you tell nursing management you need help, you rarely get it. They only have a couple nurses staffed for the entire building and you are often left lists of vital signs the nurses are supposed to do when routinely checking in on unwell residents. Used to be a great place to work, but has had a constant over turn of management. A few staff members even brought some issues to high management outside of the building and nothing happened to fix any of the problems besides a couple meetings with no following up on the floors to check in periodically on the concerns being addressed. There was also an open investigation about a handful of staff members doing drugs on the job and grounds. It was posted all over social media with pictures of conversations between the staff about doing the drugs at avita. Most of the people left that were under suspension, but have since been hired back. They had two masses of employees leave over two periods of time. They didn’t seem to try to keep staff or talk tot gem about why they were leaving. Very disappointing.

I’ve worked here twice. In 2021 and then in 2023.  Both times were terrible experiences. Their pay rate was extremely low, even if you had experience. So many residents were behavioral and stressed because they weren’t getting the proper care they needed. Most of the staff were miserable towards them. They want to pay you $16 an hour to do care, dietary, housekeeping, and all of the laundry. They do not value you here and forget asking anyone for help, no one’s getting paid enough to act like a decent coworker. Place was mainly run by literal teenagers when I worked there, all of which were incredibly hard workers but didn’t know how to properly handle situations since they had zero training whatsoever. Their middle aged coworkers were no help because they wanted to sit and talk badly behind everyone’s backs all shift instead of actually doing their job. Felt like I was in high school again. Management didn’t care, they just wanted bodies. The only shift that stood a chance was third. The third shift supervisor ran a tight ship when I was there and actually made it somewhat enjoyable. If you want to work first shift here, Good luck. You’ll need it. 

Management and supervisors are out of their depth, and behave unprofessionally. Best practices of management are gleefully ignored. Nearly every "perk" I was told before, during the interview and after being hired was a lie whether from company emails or individuals in person. 
Childish, petty management is a clique. I heard inappropriate gossip about coworkers only from management, as soon as I started and came to discover that my coworkers were mostly good people who try hard and mean well. Many of those same coworkers also informed me that I was being spoken of unkindly by management, as well. 

This company likes to promise a great experience, acting sweet at first then delivers the opposite. Their favorite tactics are to never train or inform you correctly, then to use their failures to accuse you of failing.
 Keeping employees cowed and unsure of themselves, therefore too afraid to speak up when management drops the ball is the only way they know.
Also, pay is very low for what is demanded, and the property is a health and safety risk for employees and residents. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
This is the first and only assisted living facility I've worked for where the Executive Director worked on Christmas Eve. She actually WORKED, too, helping with residents. Didn't just stay in her office with the door shut.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It is hard when a family member of a resident is on the phone wanting an answer about something IMMEDIATELY but you're not able to provide them with an answer. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Employees do really try to support each other, and upper management doesn't blow you off if you have a question or concern. Someone will listen to you. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It can be anything from nothing happening at all to emergency events and high activity. Weekdays are very busy with the phone ringing and ringing and everyone running everywhere but it's still a good environment and residents are happy for the most part. Weekends are a lot less busy and there is more time to interact with residents, which is fun.

As Dining Room Manager it was my job to see that the dining room ran smoothly and professionally. We served the senior resident population breakfast, lunch and dinner. I scheduled the dining room staff, interviewed potential new staff, hired, trained and did periodic reviews for each employee. I coordinated my efforts working very closely with Human Resources. 

Part of dining room staff duties also included seeing that the tables were properly set, keeping dining area floor clean and pre-serving desserts for lunch and dinner meals.

I had a hard-working and compassionate staff that served the residents well. It was hard work and we did a good job.

It was also my responsibility to manage large scale holiday events in the dining room with guests in excess of over 100.

The hardest part of the job was dealing with an employee that didn't show up as scheduled.

The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with the residents.

If your trying to work in culinary at ledgewood bay in Milford I recommend you look elsewhere. Hours were guaranteed but pay was less than average for what they expect out of you. They can only seem to get teenagers to work there because of how low the wages are. Management is not accommodating to staff and residents and can be very unapreciative and impleasant to deal with at times. There is also strong favoritism in the culinary department as well which in turn makes it feel like a very toxic work environment. Going to human resources about any concern is pointless they just gasslight you as well. The only enjoyable things I've found working here were getting to know the residents and help take care of them. I also worked with a great group of people that were greatly unappreciated for everything they do.

stroudwater lodge seemed like it was going to be the best place ever to work for. their interview and orientation are very thorough, but theres lots of smoke and mirrors. they promote a lot of things that aren't really enforced. employees are very over worked and underpaid, lots of meetings held to "talk about and resplve issues" within different departments, however nothing is ever actually done about the issues. dining requested CPR training due to nursings delayed responses, and were told it could be done, but there were never any steps taken to actually do it. lots of hypocrisy, all employees are held to a different standard. if you go above and beyond for your residents, i hope you plan on doing more and more and more every single time because the harder you work, the more they throw at you with no extra compensation for your extra work. 

I found that the culture in the work place was not acceptable at all. There was to much drama in the work place along with favoritism that spread from management to staff and family members.

This to me was a hostile work environment that really could use some additional management training.

I loved the residents that stayed there and the facility was really nice.

The hardest part of my job was being singled out because of my nationality and being disrespected by staff members that had little to no experience or education. 

The greatest part was being able to assist and care for the residents daily and being able to see a smile on their faces when i came in for my shift. It broke my heart to leave, but that choice was forced upon me because of the continued drama and lack of respect from the nurse that worked there, and the management staff.

Some of the residents and what our relationships were. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Supervisors degrading staff, over working them not letting them go home when blood pressure was 220/180 for a week, still made me work.  I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone animal or human.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Absolutely horrible.  To many people that have been close friends for a long time and to many relatives that are as lazy and rude and mean to residents and they get away with it and have for years.  If you don't mind being humiliated by your bosses and diung 3 peoples work jump right on board.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I gave my resignation.  It matters how people treat me more than my pay matters.
