Upper Management at The Oregon Clinic is wildly out of touch with their employees. The clinics are confused by what the business offices do, and vice-versa. My department consisted of micro management, unrealistic expectations, doing the work of higher paid employees who can't do their jobs, being guilt-tripped for taking time off, bending over backwards for physician demands (even when they were extremely unrealistic, since it's a physician owned company) and more. The overall environment was toxic and utterly mind numbing. You WILL NOT be rewarded for working harder / smarter. Instead, you'll just get more work! Myself and my colleagues were all burnt out. There was a mass exodus and my director was not questioned at all, rather, all the employees were blamed. Just wild. There are also some SERIOUS privacy concerns with patient data, but management doesn't understand technology enough to grasp the magnitude of the issue. Very slow to adapt to new technology, very close-minded, and overall stuck in their ways. If you want to be rewarded for hard work and you dislike passive aggressive tones and office politics, I'd look for employment elsewhere. 

The Oregon Clinic is an umbrella HR company for several specialty physician offices. So the culture, pay range, management style and benefits can vary from clinic to clinic even within specialties. For example Gastroenterology has three divisions - GI West, East and South. Each one is privately owned by the physicians who work there, so the pay rate is different among each division.  I am very happy where I work and it can be frustrating when a manager doesn't seem to communicate amongst the team so the team is learning how to manage around it. Wherever you work there will be issues and petty differences. What matters is... Are you making a difference? Are you bringing your best every day? The difference between ordinary and extraordinary, is that little extra. We want those kind of people on our teams that treat our patients like they could be one of their friends or family members. Let's be extraordinary together!

Work at Pulmonary at Gateway location at your own risk. There isn't real respect given by the front office management, everyone in the front office is miserable. Employees really care about their job, but front office management makes morale very low.  Thankfully there is a new Director of Operations who is nice. However right now there is so much favoritism, hypocrisy and micro-managing.  No trust given to experienced employees/multiple employees when they say a fellow employee isn't doing their job, in fact management turns it around and labels THEM as the bullies for going to them with these complaints.  Management likes to throw out baseless accusations and when they can't get that to work, they find other underhanded ways to retaliate. Over all it's a toxic workplace! Needs change in management so employees can feel valuable and respected for the great job they do!

Fantastic place to work in my opinion! I had the pleasure of working with terrific Doctors, management and staff there. Of course, it depends on what clinic you are in and there were a few people in management in the past that weren't so good. However, Oregon Clinic's been rated TOP Employer and there's a good reason for that. Their HR Dept and IT Dept are Top Notch!  I was treated very fair, felt appreciated, they pay 100% of the Employee's benefits and the insurance coverage is really good. However, they do have a deductible which I didn't like, but then again you don't pay for the actual insurance if you are the only one covered. If you have one child and aren't married, it's affordable. The problem I ran into was if you want to cover your spouse with the insurance- then the cost is high. But if it's just you, or your spouse has their own insurance, it's great!

Specialty office Very busy clinic. Staff is divided between very long term and frequent turnovers. Internal politics. Nebulous reporting structure. Majority of people are very nice,  but not a good place for introverts or people on the spectrum. Great if you like little to no downtime in position. Not great if you have a slower learning curve. The most enjoyable part of the job is working to get a recently diagnosed cancer patient in with a provider asap. The least enjoyable is that wait times for less serious visits are often several months and patients can be upset.  Also not fun is dealing with privileged providers who will go directly to the clinic providers to be "squeezed in" despite the seriousness of other patient's illnesses.

Management makes decisions about workflows without knowing how to work them themselves, and they do not want any input from subordinates. Doctors have reign over their specialties and can violate their own organization's policies as they choose. Decisions about promotions are based on personal relationships instead of skills or job performance.  The office I was in used the "we're a family" trope,  but that is not true, and it created a toxic work culture that encouraged overworking. The best thing about The Oregon Clinic is that they pay the entirety of your health insurance. If you go to work here, I recommend working in one of the larger departments in the hopes that you will have the support you need to succeed. 

My co-workers are some of the best I've ever worked with. Supportive and care about doing a great job but the high volume of work is compounded by the higher volume of errors which create more work until none of us can do our best. Not sure how this situation can resolve itself. The management in my department are top notch but they can become overwhelmed themselves. The culture is progressive which can be a minefield but its tolerable for now. I believe we have amazing employees but just not enough of them to get the job done. Management does the work/life balance thing very well. Very accommodating and that is a big advantage. Benefits are good but pay is not commensurate with other practices in the area.

The company itself takes care of their employees on paper. Great pay, benefits, and occasional discounts. However, the culture is terrible and the employees are worse. Employees talk about one another endlessly and never have your back. Management use to be great but once the new manager took he brought along a toxic work environment. No feedback give, just a collection of things at the end of the year to work on. Most of the things they require you to do aren't even in your job summary that you agreed to upon hire. From the manager to the director, I wouldn't suggest getting involved with The Oregon Clinic. Yes, you will get paid... but at what cost? My mental health took a very bad setback when I was employed here.

Terribly managed office. When I had a complaint and took it to the management there were repercussions. I also heard doctors making fun of patients. I would never recommend this place to anyone! 

Coworkers were unhappy as well. They were looking for other jobs at the time I left. There was no training and people were singled out and picked on.

The most enjoyable part of the job was getting used to being a medical assistant and getting to know the patients. I am a new medical assistant and will happily find another office where the drama is less and opportunities to ask questions and learn new skills exist.

This place was a great place to work due to the coworkers. My manager was very understanding and was always willing to make time to talk. We had monthly meetings that were to help us work better as a team. The downsides being that we were constantly understaffed and it did not seem that there was much effort being made to correct this. Another downside was the hourly pay. I felt as if the pay could be a lot better for the MA's as they are working in the ASC and assisting with procedures and the sterilization of scopes. Another thing is you were not compensated if you did multiple jobs within the clinic.
