Caregiver Recruitment is a well-conceived role; a relatively straightforward blend of internal recruitment and headhunting. Heavy focus on KPIs, as with any recruiting role. Lots of phone time. Local organizations tend to be rock solid with good culture and people.

Corporate leadership has been woefully inept thus far. We've seen two major restructures in the past year, the first of which was so poorly designed and implemented that they had to rip it up and re-do everything less than 8 months later. We've lost really good people and job security is non-existent across the board from solo contributor up and through director level. 

Lack of intelligent design in both structure and goals permeate the organization. Target KPIs seem to be a dart thrown at a board with little to no actual market research or analysis implemented to help the decision-makers arrive at a coherent, reachable goal. Changes are implemented unilaterally without consideration for the different compliance requirements by state.

The tools being used by recruiting are very underdeveloped and support from corporate is lackluster. Processes are often duct-taped over at the local level to get them to work. "We do what we have to do to get through the day" is an unfortunately common mantra among recruiting and compliance teams throughout the company. 

Compensation is generally good and the company is willing to pay high incentive bonuses. Benefits are good as well; 401(k) has a 20% match and is immediately fully vested. However the drawback remains that job security and stability is basically non-existent and it seems this won't change until c-suite leadership does.

TheKey can offer great opportunity to those looking for advancement if they can stomach the roiling tide and the constant change of direction from leadership that doesn't ever seem to have a set plan with what it wants to do. This is likely not a company you'll retire at, but it might be one that workers can use as a springboard for their career onto bigger and better positions with much better run companies in the future. 

I’m writing this review to share my unfortunate experience working with TheKey, a company that has, regrettably, proven to be the worst in my 18 years of caregiving experience with various agencies. If you are considering a position with TheKey, I strongly urge you to think twice and explore other opportunities.

Compensation:
The most glaring issue with TheKey is the inadequate compensation. Despite my extensive experience and dedication, the pay is significantly lower compared to other agencies where I've worked. For the level of care and commitment required, the compensation at TheKey is simply unacceptable. This not only impacts financial stability but also morale, as it feels like the hard work and sacrifice are neither acknowledged nor rewarded.

Management:
The management at TheKey is another major concern. Communication is poor, and there is a distinct lack of support from higher-ups. Issues are often dismissed rather than addressed, and there is a palpable sense of disorganization within the company. This creates a stressful work environment where employees feel undervalued and unsupported. It’s clear that management is more focused on numbers than on the well-being of their staff or the quality of care provided.

Work-Life Balance:
Work-life balance at TheKey is virtually non-existent. The demands of the job are overwhelming, with long hours and an unrealistic workload that leaves little time for personal life or rest. Despite voicing concerns about the strain this places on caregivers, management has failed to make any meaningful changes. The imbalance has resulted in burnout and job dissatisfaction, making it a challenging and exhausting place to work.

In summary, TheKey falls short in every critical area that matters to caregivers. With poor compensation, ineffective management, and a complete disregard for work-life balance, it stands out as the least favorable employer I’ve encountered in my long career. I strongly advise against joining TheKey if you value fair pay, supportive management, and a reasonable work-life balance. There are better opportunities out there where your skills and dedication will be truly appreciated.

I made the mistake of leaving a great role to join TheKey, based on what was promised to me during the interview process. Unfortunately, I quickly realized that everything I was told was misleading, and the reality of working there was far from what was presented.
During my interview, I was sold on the idea of a collaborative, supportive team environment and opportunities for growth. However, once I joined, it became clear that none of this was true. The "teamwork" I was promised is practically nonexistent. Instead of working together, it's a culture of "every person for themselves." There is a lack of support at every level, and you're left to fend for yourself. One of the biggest disappointments was the behavior of leadership, particularly the VP of Sales. Rather than focusing on solutions or supporting the team, they spent most of their time blaming others for the department's issues. This toxic atmosphere only added to the frustration of an already challenging role. As I spoke to people in cross-functional teams, I quickly learned that I wasn't alone in my dissatisfaction. It was clear that many employees felt undervalued, frustrated, and disillusioned by the company's culture and leadership. There’s a palpable sense of low morale throughout the organization, and it's disheartening to see how many talented individuals are trying to make the best of a bad situation. I truly regret leaving my previous position for TheKey. The promises made during the interview were empty, and what I encountered was a lack of integrity, support, and a dysfunctional work environment. If you're considering joining, I strongly advise you to think twice—what you’re told in the interview will not be the reality you face on the job.



I joined TheKey with high hopes, eager to make a positive impact in the home care industry. Unfortunately, my experience as a Home Care Liaison has been far from what I expected.  From the start, I felt unsupported by management. The training was minimal, leaving me to figure out critical aspects of the role on my own. When I sought guidance, the responses were slow and often unhelpful, creating a frustrating work environment.  The turnover rate among staff is alarming. This constant change disrupted our team's cohesion and made it difficult to establish strong working relationships. It also meant that I was often left to pick up the slack for others who had left.  The expectations placed on Home Care Liaisons are often unrealistic. The workload is overwhelming, with little regard for work-life balance. Management seems more focused on numbers than on the well-being of their employees, which leads to burnout. There is a significant disconnect between different departments, making it challenging to get the necessary support for clients. This not only affects our ability to provide quality care but also creates unnecessary stress for employees.
Despite being promised opportunities for advancement, I found that there was little room for growth. Promotions and raises are rare, and the lack of recognition for hard work is demotivating. My time at TheKey has been disappointing. The lack of support, high turnover, unrealistic expectations, poor communication, and limited career growth opportunities have made it a challenging place to work. I hope that management takes these issues seriously and works to improve the experience for future employees. CEO needs to make some major changes in the sales leadership or the revolving door will continue.


What is the best part of working at the company?
I don't think I could say just one favorite thing about this company. First off, the women in the office are amazing. They are so hard working and always so kind. They are very understanding and can be very flexible when they need to be to help their employees. They always try to accommodate to the caregivers' needs when it comes to clients and location. I've been here for over two years, and I have not hd a client that I didn't like!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Honestly, the company itself isn't really stressful. Things do get out of order sometimes, but we are all human, and I know everyone in the office is doing the best they can, just like I am, and I still make mistakes sometimes, too. Personally, the stressful part of the job can be some of the clients. It's not hard to love the clients, it's just mentally exhausting sometimes. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment and culture at great! Weather you are in the office with all the ladies, who are amazing and always happy and outgoing, or with the clients, it is all always just good vibes. It's truly so easy to get along with everyone and feel welcomed!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Most of our clients are very laid back. I have not had a bad experience with a client at this company so far! I have a primary client that I've been with for almost two years and she loves to just go for walks, watch tv, go out to eat, and go see movies. Though I'm here because she has dementia, and though it can be mentally tiring, it is so rewarding to be a person in her life to make a difference.

It was very rewarding to have our clients be satisfied with our professionalism and services.  Our care manager was well versed in handling family matters involving non-agreement as to the care of the client.  Our RN assessment of care for the clients assured the family & clients they would receive the best possible care.  The caregivers have caring hearts of gold and truly loved taking care of the client.  

Phone calls were assessed as to potential new clients or caregivers employment inquires, employee payroll questions, and clients invoice questions and directed to the proper person.  I handled payroll and invoice questions, solved issues as they occurred. Reviewed invoice for processing of payment, and ordered office supplies.

Assisted the Marketing Director with special projects and ordering of marketing material & supplies.

Control of employee's personal files and clients files along with submission to LTC insurance for reimbursement to the client. 

Best part when a client gets well enough to terminate our service. The hardest part is when we get the phone call the clients has passed away.  

My co-workers all enjoy helping the clients continue with a productive life style as best they can under their circumstances.

Unfortunately, my experience was not a good one. There were several key issues that made it a difficult place to work.
The biggest problem was the leadership. The senior team didn’t seem to have a clear vision or strong communication. Decisions were often made behind closed doors, with no input or feedback from the teams who would be affected by them. It felt like they were out of touch with what was happening day-to-day in the company and didn’t fully understand the challenges employees were facing.
Important decisions were made without sharing any details with the rest of the company, which created confusion and uncertainty. Employees often felt left in the dark and unsure about the company’s direction.

Compensation was much lower than what you would expect for the level of responsibility in the role. As a Business Development Manager, I was expected to hit high targets and deliver results, but the pay didn’t reflect the work or the effort involved. It was hard to stay motivated when the rewards didn’t match the expectations.

In the end, my time  was defined by poor leadership, lack of transparency, and low pay. These issues made it a frustrating place to work, and I decided to move on to a company where I felt more valued. I wouldn’t recommend TheKey to anyone looking for strong leadership or fair compensation.

The new management of this company is horrible. They have little respect for their employees and show it in their actions. They also do not follow through with the morals they claim to have. Now sure, there are tons of opportunities to make extra money on top of your salary at this job. They are constantly looking for extra coverage and sometimes provide a shift bonus for picking up extreme last minute shifts. But if you value morals and ethics over money… then this job is not for you. Plus I think the fact that they are constantly needing caregivers to pick up extra shifts proves how hard it is for them to keep caregivers employed. Before the new management, the company also had holiday parties and events for the caregivers and staff to get to know each other. They valued the importance of work relationships. But now, the new company has never made any kind of effort to get employees familiar with each other. Ive never even met my superiors and am not even sure who my immediate supervisor is even supposed to be. They have very poor communication skills at this company. I don’t recommend it, if you already have the experience of being a home health aid/caregiver… don’t waste your time and talent here. Go into private business for yourself and don’t let this company take advantage of you. They don’t provide anything for the client that you can’t do yourself. 

This company is terrible! They do not care about their clients or their staff. They think they need 20 meetings a day so when you call and it’s an emergency no one will answer the phone. They will assign you clients that need to be a 2 person assist but they will not hire a second caregiver to help you. You burn out really fast depending on your client and level of care. There is not enough hours at all. But they still keep hiring more people. Staff are not properly trained on how to take care of the client. Their care plan usually has nothing to do with what care they actually need. The schedulers are rude. The clients are ignored when they actually need to talk to them. They want you to travel miles away to different clients each day with very little pay. If you are not able to get to an emergency shift that they need to fill they will get you a Uber there and back. The clients are really kind and sweet. You do not get to clock out for a lunch break. You have to eat while you while you are there. When clients family are being disrespectful to you depending on who you talk to they will usually agree with you and let you leave. Some of the mangers there are really kind and caring about their staff and clients. 

An awesome company to work for the workers management the founder and they treat us like we are important together concerned about I will be in just as much is a Client great place to work. It’s a great place to work. I would recommend it to anyone any nationality 
 Just a well-rounded company that is concerned about human race debility to keep your independence. The love of a human is what the key is to me. The Key is outstanding, understanding awesome place to work with people to work for into people to take care of your concern about your mental health, your physical health, your independence as a worker as well. The Key is a independent well rounded company that cares about life. loving understanding, outgoing willing to solve any problem possibly with respect and dignity and have clients all over the world seems but respects you and client and he seem to match up people in the 80s with the right family and if the 80s are uncomfortable I don’t understand something they were trying to find a family that the aid is combat compatible with or that they can understand each other. Loving, caring, honesty, understanding
