I didn't expect this job to be all rainbows and butterflies all the time. Same with any other job. But the ignorance, preference for a specific race, and incompetence of the management team here is on another level. This is backed by the sheer number of newly hired managers that get hired on and resign 6 months or so after.

There is one particular person, a former managgeerr on 2nd shift (who recently stepped down to be an office assistant in the same department) that seriously needs to do some self reflection or sing some kumbaya or something because there is no rhyme or reason to work for a place that you despise so deeply while professing an even greater scorn for the housekeepers in public areas of the hospital that are simply trying to make a living. All new housekeepers will do well to minimize communication with this person in order to be successful here.

I walked away from this job 11 months ago and since then have encountered multiple management teams, which allowed for my 'eyes to be opened' as to how unprofessional this department is. Things don't have to be this way.

As a housekeeper, regardless of your shift you will be assigned hospital rooms to strip, clean, and make up again for the next patient. You may have to push hard to be fully trained as their training is.. okay but not the best. You will also have to clean 'contact' rooms as well such as Covid-19 rooms, C-Diff infected rooms and so forth. Some housekeepers are given specific areas of the hospital to clean and upkeep everyday but you may still be pulled to clean patient rooms which means you won't get to finish your area which some of the "leaders" will blame you for.

Managers do not recognize progress and achievements without bias if at all.

They can improve workplace culture by saying thank you to employees for their hard work and displaying genuine kindness. Also please keep unflattering info about housekeepers behind closed doors.

I think Trihealth's probation period rules have changed recently but I know that they give employees 4.5 hours of PTO per pay period which is like winning the lottery compared to most other employers. That doesn't mean you'll get your PTO approved but it's one good thing about this place. A small number of housekeepers on evening shift are hilarious and the best part about working here.
HR has been notified by multiple employees and possibly a lead tech about the issues that go on here but since then nobody has been fired or dealt with. Otherwise this wouldn't continue to be an issue. Therefore, keep to yourself and don't give anyone any reason to have even the slightest issue with you and you'll be fine.

I hope the atmosphere at this job improves for the sake of everyone's mental health, as it's just housekeeping. It's just a cleaning department at a hospital and no one should feel unwelcome.
(There is NO excuse for such poor behavior, I'm allowed to say that on this website.)

I worked for TriHealth Priority Care for about two years and I was hired as one of the first employees while the building was still being built. I helped get office and medical supplies set up and helped with any finishing touches that needed done before we were ready to open. Within the first week of opening we had a girl decide never to show up again and no notice which left me to pick up her hours. I didn't mind at first but as time went on it became a huge pattern. It seemed a "warm body" was better than a competent employee and the stress just kept piling on for many of the other employees. We had three locations, two opened after our location which left us with little management direction and our "supervisor" was clueless on how to actually manage an office and the staff. Much of her work was delegated to me with no recognition on how I could clearly do her job better than she could and I by no means mean to sound arrogant, only factual. There were many days we were short staffed and running around like mad individuals because the help we did have, knew nothing on our processes. When I was hired I was promised a new job title was in the works to allow LPN's working as MA's and front office staff to be placed into a higher pay grade. Every time I followed up I was told it was still in the works. Two years later, nothing. When review time came around it was a crock, because every employee received the exact same amount of a raise, even those who were clearly not deserving. During the flu season we were seeing over a hundred patients daily, no breaks, no lunch break, working well over our twelve hour shifts. This was not great for me at the time being 7-8 months pregnant. There were several staff members that honestly did what they wanted and even would leave for long periods without clocking out with no repercussions. I will say I had a group of ladies who were very knowledgeable, and the only ones I wanted to work with and still keep in contact with today; they also no longer work for the facility, and those who do only work a few hours or as needed. The last time we were in the facility for my husband to be treated there was a terribly long wait and not many patients to be seen, the bathroom was filthy, and the entire place had garbage laying about the facility. It made me very sad to see this place go down hill so fast, and I hope it addresses it's issues to make it the amazing place I know it could be. It was a great concept of an organization.

The biggest downfall at TriHealth is the culture and leadership (or lack of). Many long time team members have left, and now the less tenured leaders and team members are scrambling to stay afloat. The culture in the Cincinnati healthcare industry is extremely competitive. They have become much more aggressive with their pay, but so has all other healthcare providers in Cincinnati. TriHealth is behind the curve at the moment, but trying to take measures to catch up. Pay and benefits will never compare to Cincinnati Children's (the industry leader in Cin.) because they have much deeper pockets. Pay targets the 50th percentile and is heavily dependent on how much total experience you have.
I personally had a terrible leader who was very cold, never took any initiative to train or develop her team, and had the worst communication possible. We would find out what our own department was doing from an all employee announcement from our CEO. I would expect a decent leader to keep their team updated with major things going on in our area. I never felt valued by my direct leader, and her leader never had time for our team unless she needed something. C-suite had a lot of turnover, which always makes things difficult because everyone has different thoughts on strategy and direction. The CEO is not a strong leader.
Benefits: HMO - overpriced premium and deductible compared to local competition, but good coverage or High Deductible plan with very high out of pocket max and little employer contribution. Dental, vision, supplemental/voluntary like accident, critical illness, etc. STD/LTD at 60% with an option to buy up by 10%. PTO was mediocre compared to competition. 

It is very rare that any two days are the same in this position. My schedule includes a variety of meetings - regularly occurring or ad-hoc. Because my position includes a great deal of troubleshooting and shoulder to shoulder support I am constantly moving from one facility to another depending on the requests or needs of my clinical customers. 

Because I am involved in a wide-variety of assignments and projects/initiatives I learn a lot everyday. Much of what I learn is within the EHR system, Epic. I learn more about clinical workflows, functionality within Epic as well as business processes and business objectives. I have also learned project management and information systems principles because of my collaboration with IS, performance improvement and other non-clinical departments. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is the autonomy, variety of work, flexibility and the ability to create opportunities for clinical customers to focus more on their patients. Educating and supporting clinical staff is exciting for me and gives me a sense of pride because I can see how it helps and team members are appreciative. The hardest part of the job is the fact that there is so much variety and I am responsible to a large number of clinical team members. Staying on top of change requests and troubleshooting requests can be difficult at times in between meetings and ongoing projects. It is a juggling act at times, but prioritizing, keeping organized and staying communicative is very important to see that tasks are completed in a timely manner.

Started out managing a testing workqueue, and was told at interview I would be doing little travel. That ALL changed when we hired new NP for practice. I managed a test workqueue for ALL 5 surgeons and ALL 3 NP's plus had to travel from west side to east side of Cincinnati to all locations for clinic along with a fellow co-worker. I became very dissatisfied with the dishonesty of position. Once COVID-19 hit, I became 100% furloughed for 5 weeks due to all surgeries/testing being halted, and decreased company revenue. Then, myself and fellow co-worker came back at only 50% hours and unable to collect unemployment. Management told me and coworker that one of us was being eliminated. Told us we had to decide for ourselves who would leave. Then came back and told us it was in HR's hands. Co-worker was planning to apply for position with one of our surgeons in near future (once position opens up). So, they eliminated her position and was going to give her severance for two months and have her come back. I was left to manage full workload of NP's and do MORE traveling without additional pay (understanding of company financial losses). I  Made the tough decision to move on. TriHealth could've handled the situation ALOT better. They try to weed out certain people. Very dishonest company, even though they preach TRANSPARENCY. 

TriHealth is a truly great organization that strives and succeeds in providing the best care and service to the communities it serves. It's a large organization with many different places to work, and with a variety of workplaces comes a variety of managers and managerial styles. My most recent workplace and immediate team suffered from infrequent, insufficient, generally poor, and occasionally abrasive communication from management. The team itself worked very well together, partly due to strong rapport but partly out of necessity--each member had to be a resource for the team because management was frequently occupied with other matters. The team was generally a saving grace. Work demand was high but breaks were not permitted besides the 30-minute lunch. TriHealth needs to continue making progress in providing appropriate compensation, overall and specifically with regard to the ongoing pandemic. After the significant and sustained increase in workload, the first and only bonus thus far is to be paid out mid-December 2020. I am aware of many, across different clinical and non-clinical roles, who left the organization for other health care systems due to compensation issues. Still, to be a TriHealth team member is worthy of pride. 

• Day-to-day management of 38 client census reports, eligibility authorizations, processing financial check runs and assisting clients in final steps of implementation. 			                              • Responsible for the accuracy, security and maintenance of an estimated 31,000 members healthcare data in two  claim system’s Trizetto-(QNXT) and Managed Care Optimizer (MCO)            • Routinely working with internal auditors to stay within our regulatory compliance goals for each month.                                                                                                                                                         • Primary liaison between our clients and the claims analyst’s for issues such as: communicating status updates, roster transfers, claim discrepancies, lost check re-issue’s and general concerns.         • Analyzing and processing member PHI into various claim systems internal/external for daily/monthly medical reports such as Enrollment & Eligibility requests, 24 Nurse Line, Pharmacy First Fills, ER triggers, UM Denial Decision, Poly-Pharmacy and High Dollar.	           • Making recommendations to the health data analyst nurses, managers and directors regarding any medical data concerns or potential security breaches.                                                                                                   • Assisted in the process migration of Trizetto’s (QNXT) claim system from Aug 2014 to a “GO-LIVE” date of 1/1/2015.                                                                                                                                      • Creation of every active member’s identification badge and security code.		                         • Training new associates in Utilization Management, Medical Review and Data Control.

I can tell you that TriHealth does have a lot of programs and positions to improve the health outcomes of the community. Unfortunately, TriHealth does not follow up due to poor training, lack of resources, and little support from management. I worked in a difficult, but rewarding position as a Community Health Worker and I enjoyed working with my Clients, but I could not continue working there. I had little professional training outside of a few days of corporate training and shadowing another coworker for a few weeks. There were conflicting ideas on how to do certain aspects of the job and it was frustrating in trying to do my best when no one could agree on what was the right way to do a certain task. There were budget cuts removing and/or reducing the tools and resources that I used on a daily basis to help my clients. And there were many things I saw and heard that were unprofessional and unethical. I don't regret doing the job because I learned a lot while I was there but I am happy to leave TriHealth for a better opportunity for myself. I recommend going to Children's or the Health Department if you want to pursue a position as a Community Health Worker.

I have been here nearly a decade. I have trained over 20 employees for 3 sites (usually while making less than the people I am training). I brought it to their attention years ago and said I thought I deserved a raise and a different title. They said this was not possible, but fast forward to now, they created that position, and gave it to someone who was not familiar with training and had only been working here for 8 months.. while continuing to make me train the new staff, because they know I am the best at it-something they will admit while at the same time giving me absolutely no credit for it. They discriminate against disabled people and I have watched it happen time and time again and have faced it countless times myself. Transphobic, homophobic, and racist comments are made in the office. I cannot tell you how many people I have seen come and go in my time being here, including all of the original management (which actually did care about you) Basically everyone that leaves is because they're over the treatment you're given here. It is a toxic work environment and drains all of your mental and emotional energy.

TriHealth could be great.  But atmosphere is punitive, if you don't like it, leave attitude.  Tuition reimbursement is geared more toward medical or upper management.  Events for employees required payment.  Recognition is paltry, because management has no idea what is required for employees to perform their duties properly.  For example, you'll receive an e-card for helping a co-worker, but if you catch an issue when it begins, it will not be addressed until it is found out and reported by another department head, always after its progressed to a raging forest fire.  You'll be volun-told to take over as many people's duties as possible, while being expected to keep up with your own full time duties.  (four additional at last count). Pay not up to industry standards for job, your experience, or education.  Required to use TriHealth Insurance.  No overtime.  Believe me when I say your skills, education and work ethic will be much more appreciated and compensated somewhere else.  It's just a job that barely pays the bills while looking for something else.
