I started working here and was excited even with reviews read. When I interviewed with previous HR I was sold a dream. I was told after 90 days that I would work remotely 3 days a week. That was the main reason I applied and accepted the job. This whole concept was shot down by a particular manager in a Skype call letting us all know that this was not happening and that there were only a few nurses with that “privilege”. Also, she let us know that these nurses were working 15-20 cases a day and “if” we ever got on that level we may be able to work from home. I was livid and felt lied to but trapped with working here. So back to the first week of orientation COVID hit and we were sent home to compete orientation via Skype and start training. It was a complete mess trying to learn everything not being hands on with 20 people via Skype. I understood the situation and kept trying to learn. Eventually the numbers started to drop of people I started orientation with were leaving left and right. I thought they probably just couldn’t grasp the review process. Well then we started to get trained and have meetings with supervisors and managers from different teams. Let’s just say a few of them were not welcoming. The first thing that got me was addressing nurses that have been there a while longer than us (mind you not many have been there a year)  as “veterans”. I guess that is an intimidation tactic but half of them don’t know what they are doing. They management team makes it so uncomfortable for you to even want to come to them for help as they can be very curt and condescending. They always want to draw attention to a nurses flaws and show how much more they think they know. The expectations of the case loads for nurses is unrealistic and I feel the bar that is set in order to work remotely is high to try and keep us in the office. I pray that COVID numbers goes down and eventually goes away but once we are to report back in that office and have to deal with those managers everyday in person, my resume will be sent out immediately. I believe the mission of this company is great and the CEO has a vision but the managers of this ship will not let his vision evolve. Everyday people are leaving because they are not happy and we are in the middle of a pandemic and working from home so that says a lot about the company. 

TurningPoint is a great place to work for. The CEO of the company started it over 5 years ago, and is still very involved in the day-to-day. You can tell he really cares about the success not only of the company, but of the individuals as well. He personally ensures the benefits are the best that can be offered. The SVP and Directors also really care about the employees, and it shows. Not one of the executives would ask an employee to do something that they wouldn't (or couldn't) do themselves- and that is why they are respected. 

TurningPoint is a start-up company whose product/services are needed in today's industry, and that is well recognized; however, with massive growth comes growing pains. There is a lot to work on, but the company is constantly innovating and improving, and not just from the top down- everyone is encouraged to speak up and let their voice be heard. The teams really do strive to put the patients first and help make sure they are getting the right procedure at the right time. Metrics have proven that TP is doing good work in protective patients, and they won't give up on doing what is right.

TP is a great place to work for if you are a self-motivated, driven individual who wants to be part of the bigger picture in making healthcare better for the patients. This is not a "cushy" office job for people who want to fly under the radar and do the minimum. The employees work hard, and excellence is expected. You have to want to be here and believe in the work, otherwise you run the risk of being unsuccessful. Good, hard work is rewarded- the company truly believes in promoting from within and putting the right people in the right jobs.

Overall, the company really cares about their work and their employees, and they want people who have the same mindset.

The job itself is extremely enjoyable. Most people are friendly and helpful. Which isn't the easiest thing to accomplish in a remote setting. The work isn't the easiest, but the more you do the more you learn. It's really a fun challenge. There is game nights and dress up days, and they are pretty generous with benefits. Plus they have INCENTIVES for case completion. This is where the problems come in. There are bad apples, and it's about half the people. People chose the easiest cases to gain better stats; and this is obvious when you see the same people with 20+ cases APPROVED EVERY DAY, and others with 10 (even less most of the time). The new people coming in have caught on to this, and they start to do the same thing! And while management is aware, they continue to not only allow it, but drill a minimum case completion required rate.  We have new trainees coming in all the time but they seem to be run off for fear of not producing. A BETTER incentive would be case completion for DENIED cases, not ALL cases. Working at home is convenient, you can throw in laundry while working and actually "see" your family. I think my only complaint about this is you have a required shift. I do believe we should have a little more flexibility in our shifts. Yes there needs to be staff during the day, and most people would do that anyway. But the work can be completed anytime really, yet for example you can't just work 8-5 one day and 10-7 the next. With the correction of the above mentioned items, I don't think anybody would want to leave!

Since new nursing leadership took over mid 2025, morale and support have significantly declined. The environment has shifted from somwhat collaborative to a more fear-based, with limited guidance, inconsistent expectations, and communication that can feel dismissive, belittling, or at times perceived as threatening.

There is minimal support for routine clinical and workflow questions, and an increasing focus on disciplinary action rather than development. This has created hesitation among staff to seek clarification or escalate concerns in real time.

Concerns that have been raised through internal channels have not consistently resulted in visible resolution, which has further contributed to a lack of trust in leadership support and accountability.

Many experienced nurses feel unsupported, undervalued, and increasingly disengaged, with a noticeable impact on their sense of psychological safety, confidence in decision-making, and overall job security. This has affected not only efficiency and retention, but also team cohesion and the ability to consistently perform at a high level.

The company would benefit from reassessing leadership at the director level to restore a respectful, supportive, and accountable culture.

The initial training for ortho pre auth cases with Dawn was amazing! However, after moving to a team, I was told I’d be reviewing all cardiac cases with no training whatsoever. Staff is shuffled around to multiple different teams with different policies but no training. The turnover of supervisors is constant…5-6 supervisors over 2 years. Constant pressure to do more; constant criticism over things out of your control; no support with questions re: cardiac cases because the supervisors have no understanding of reviewing those cases. Constant berating by MD offices when their cases are denied or you are looking for additional documentation from them. After exceeding multiple expectations and assigned quotas; I received a 0.1% annual increase. Throughout my employment I did receive $400+ Motivosity “dollars” for exceeding expectations which could be exchanged for various gift cards to multiple retailers…however they are no longer valid once you leave the company. Prior to leaving the company, I was instructed to start using a new “tool” to fine tune their ability to use AI to review cases…which added to an already overloaded workload but for no extra compensation. There was constant chatter about needing staff after hours, weekends, holidays so you are never confident that your schedule may change. It was a salaried position but required signing on early or staying on late to complete the required workload. 

 This place is HUGE into internal public shaming with mass emails with who they deem as underperformers and having meetings where management challenges nurses to speak just so they can "rebuttal" them. The way they treat their nurses is demeaning.  One manager even calls the nurses  her "children" and accuse nurses who ask questions of "having temper tantrums".  They cross a  professional line, playing the blame game instead of promoting  professionalism with redevelopment of strategies that just aren't working .   The job duties itself are ok. Its nothing that's going to give you excitement and passion but the job itself is ok.  I gave it a year knowing they were growing and changing giving the benefit of the doubt but its gotten worse. They need a whole overhaul of their management and IT systems to get it right but that would take tough decisions, removal of toxic managers and recognition of the problem. Weak management just cant do that. The upper management promotes a closed door environment sending nurses to the midlevel manager that is the problem. Often facing reprimand for not following the chain of command. The company has great potential but is internally sabatoging with what seems to be a fundamental disrespect for nurses. Nice office space though. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The pay was decent and the job was remote. Also, the physician's on staff were the absolute best of the best when it came to collaborating, educating, and follow up.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
"Management" and "team leads" could be extremely petty and vindictive. Very unprofessional leadership within the company which was unfortunate because they literally have some of the best physicians you will ever have the opportunity to work with.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very stressful. Unrealistic expectations, poor training, unprofessional "leadership," total disregard for work-life balance. Basically worked 24/7 for ungrateful management on a salary so no OT for all the time and stress.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Constant interruptions while attempting to work caseload, emails, phone calls, instant messages, "training," meetings, additional urgent cases on top of an already heavy caseload assigned back to back.... and still expected to complete all cases. Just total harassment all day long, never allowed to just focus on your assignment yet faced constant bullying for not finishing all cases by EOD. Always having to work over because the only time you could focus on your assignment was when leadership logged off.

in training they said expectations that the job shouldn’t be too stressful. That it sometimes gets a little busy, but nothing that couldn’t be handled. This environment is very stressful and very micromanaged. A lot of improvements on internal processes and a big improvement on focusing on employees happiness and mental health is needed. Things change very often here, which is expected of course. But they will change your whole job description and just expect you to adapt without being accommodated. If you get on the phones the calls will be back to back and you will only have one minute between your calls to do everything it is that you need to do before you take another one. You have to ask for permission to finish the work that you just finished on the call prior before you get another one, otherwise you just have to pile up your work until the phone queue is clear and then go back and finish everything once you have time. it’s could easily be 3/4 calls that you have notes for stacked up on the notepad. Not to mention the systems are dreadful at best and the providers offices that call are beyond rude. 

If only the CEO knew how management treats the regular staff, particularly nursing, I think his head would explode. All of the good leadership either left or stepped down. Management has meetings and critical information does not get passed down. You won't know until you make a mistake. They change things daily for the sake of change. Maybe you will get an email about it, maybe you won't. Forget about proper traininge on these updates. The pay is good but not fair and consistent across the board. They pay you good, I suppose to deal with the insanity they put you through. I wish I had a dime for everytime I received a snide remark or email. 

I have appreciated learning about isurance and billing however I have no idea if it correct because we find out daily we are doing something wrong. 

Don't come to TurningPoint and expect to work from home unless you are a top nurse performer. Most nurses will not be able to review the 15 cases a day required to get 3 days WFH. 

You can get your foot in the CRN door here but unfortunately there is no longevity with the current nurse management team. I am a current employee but will be seeking other options. It is unfortunate because the CEO has established a good company with solid values I believe in.

Been with them for almost 2 years and I love working from home. There is good amount of connection with video chatting and meetings but the flexibility of working from home, with kids, makes it worthwhile. There is some level of micromanaging but it's needed in order to keep the client's happy. The company is growing and expanding so fast that there are growing pains but the upper management is taking steps to minimize those pains. Each team works really well together but there is still some room to bring the teams together as one. The expectations for a utilization review nurse is high but not unreachable. Training could be a little more organized and a little longer. Feel like there's a quick push to get nurses trained as fast as possible. Longer training would benefit the nurse and the company by building a more solid foundation. Overall, it's a great company to work for, the CEO and the management team really care about the employees and their success. Hard workers are recognized. This is not an easy work from home desk job. They will push you to be your best and anything less is not acceptable.
