Typical days at work were very interesting, busy and enjoyable.  I learned a lot about the Federal Court system and how cases move through the Federal Court, as well as understanding the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the Local Rules of the Nevada District Court.  I also learned how finances for the court and the government in general are processed and reported to the Administrative Office in Washington, DC and how the court's fiscal information is used by Congress.  Management enjoyed a practical joke, which helped make the day fun and broke up stressful times.  Management had an open door policy and they were always willing to listen, help and be proactive.  Co-workers were awesome.  Friendly, fun, supportive and always willing to work as a team.  The hardest part of the job was end of the month and fiscal year end in the financial department.  In Docketing and Finance transferring to new systems and  adjusting to the changes proved to be challenging at times.  I enjoyed what I was doing, in both docketing and finance. I made some fabulous, long time friends in my co-workers and still enjoy their company and support today.

A  typical day at work would be to making summary entries of all documents and proceedings on the docket; assuring that automated entries are linked for proper case management; prepared and transmitted notices, judgments and orders; performed inquiries and furnished information either in person or by correspondence as to status of cases; and prepared a statistical report in each case commenced or terminated also auditing the work of CM/ECF system attorney’s. 
What I learned from the job is that although the documents have the same titles then can be interrupted with different meanings. 
Management and co-works are team players we all work together to get the daily task done. 
The hardest part of the job is when documents have been sent to archives and we can research the file do to pages are missing or lost. The most enjoyable part of the job is keep the court staff and public happy and making there goals and need important.

This is a governmental agency dedicated to the protection of the public and fair and impartial disposition of cases. We are public servants. It's meaningful work you can feel good about, but it's probably not for everyone. The work standards are high - you are serving federal judges. You answer to them and to the taxpayer. On a national level, the support and resources are great, although congress tightens the purse strings sometimes. Locally, they do whatever they can to make sure staff have whatever they need. Upper management is great - truly good people who want to see staff succeed. There are opportunities for advancement but people stay a long time so it can take a while sometimes. But it's worth the wait - great pay, good stability, a job you can feel good about. Family environment - employees get to know each other well because it's pretty small.

My work flow is pretty steady. I work with a team but most of my work is done independently as my duties are specific to me and my co-workers have their individuals tasks as well. My work is very cyclical.  Invoices are sent in by the 10th of each month and are processed in that order. Because I have been doing this job for more than 2 year I am able to manage my time so that the invoices for 30 providers are process within 30 days.
There has been a lot in terms of the courts and what it entails daily.  The people I think most of the people I work with throughout the court really enjoy what they do. I really enjoy the people that I work with. I think we get along well even on bad days, not that its perfect but we can agree to disagree. We have potlucks and gatherings for special occasions.I the hardest part was learning that what seems to be the simple to solve would take sometime days to get completed because of processes.

Reviewing court docket being sure judge have all files and correspondences needed to review case before taking the bench. This process is generally performed at the end of the previous day for cases to be heard the next day. All communications between judges and attorney notes kept in forefront for review, depending on preference of judge.  Accuracy and confidentiality is of utmost importance because of the very nature of the work involved. People are friendly and courteous, understanding the necessity of working together cohesively and professionally to bring about a balance of work performance.  Ethical standards highly adhered to.  There is time for breaks, which allows staff to mingle and be relaxed and to simply breathe! The respect given to one another is very key and recognizable in this environment.

Manage open cases assigned to the court.

Through the years here at the SDNY, I've learned how various parts of the court operate.  From filing open/closed case records, assisting in the jury department to register the public, and acting as support to attorneys and the judges chambers to guide cases through the settlement process.  

The work place culture is what one would expect.  Professional and collegiate.  

The hardest part of working in the courts is adjusting to the fact that you are a government worker.  There a certain things one gives up.  Such as a right to protest or speak on issues of the day that matter in the world.  A government worker can con not public participate in such activities.

The most enjoyable part of the job is helping your fellow American navigate through the court system, and show them that the system is designed to serve them actually.

Enjoyed working for this department; however I was looking for a career change and at the same time the department was downsizing.

Typical day: a person incarcerated being released and reports to probation to report his release and arrival to be rehabilitated back into the community. Person is processed and assigned to a probation officer;

I learned alot while employed with this agency. I am grateful for the time spent there and met a lot of people;

I would have to say overall my co-workers were great to work with. Everyone worked as a team, which made for a smooth day;

The hardest part of the job, I would have to say, getting through the day during a dry spell (work was slow);

The most enjoyable part of the job was getting things accomplished in the same day. Made you feel good about yourself.

Management at the U. S. Court in Shreveport was great when I worked there.  As part of the management team, my senior managers always treated me with respect and were interested in my opinion when the court was going through change and even when it wasn't.  A typical day at work was alot of "putting out fires".  I enjoyed it immensely.  I had great co-workers and most of us had worked there for such a long time period, we had become like second family. We stayed extremely busy and the atmosphere was one of constant change.  The hardest part of my job was having to handle unpleasant situations with the people I supervised.  The most enjoyable part of my job was seeing employees excel, thrive, and want to come to work.

Day starting with a morning meeting with all the case administrators , Court Room Deputies , and managers . The daily arrangement for all the CA work is confirmed in the meeting , i.e. file scanner, court services, mail duties, and etc. Every work area needs to have a coverage. 

The next is individual working time , including group meeting if needed , i.e work with customers, Jude chambers , Jury Clerks and etc. The purpose it to communicate for application work and use's perspectives , feed back or more request. 

Communication to management can be easily processed due to the location continence. 

There is weekly meeting for work status is going on regular bases  to tell the work status and  get help or support when needed.

I typed numerous Presentence Investigation Reports.  When I worked in the Alexandria, VA  office the clerks had to do the statistical reports once a month and that was a difficulty because at that time numerous things were not on the computer and computer/data programs were not being created.  Some of the United States Probation Officers in some offices typed their own PSIR's and their supervisors were not to fond of that because it was the job of their secretary to type the reports.  Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed working at the U.S. Probation Office and then went on to work at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Alexandria, VA.
