Universal Windows Direct

This company should be called Universal Unethical Window World. They lie to you about your pay. Telling you you get $6000 salary for 2 months which makes you think your going to get an actual $6000 salary per month. No, it’s actually $6000 spread over 60 days, so basically $100 a day. They say their A-Z training is the best training in the country but in reality thy are just trying to play the psychological game with you and make you feel like your going to be part of a great company with great training. They expect you to be selling Windows within a couple weeks and if you’ve never had Window experience, they expect you to just watch some videos and be good to go. They tell you “just learn our closes on how to sell a customer.” You’ll learn Windows “as you go.” Don’t bother emailing H.R. about anything pay wise cause they’ll either not email you back or if they do, they will bcc your supervisor so he sees what you thought was a private conversation then you’ll feel like a total idiot. (BCC- means ‘blind carbon copy’ on a email- someone is on your email message and you don’t realize it)
If you ask for hands on training for Windows, you’ll get talked down to by your supervisor and he’ll say “didn’t you watch the videos we told you to watch?” expecting videos to suffice. They’ll send you out of town for training and the week of training is all about the pyschological part of selling which does matter quite a bit for someone who has never sold but product knowledge is not focused on with this company’s training, they want you out selling ASAP. They say it’s not high pressure sales and that you can give a customer a 30 day price guarantee but your not allowed to follow up with that person if they don’t want to sign on the spot. They want you to high pressure the customer into signing while your there. If the customer calls the 800# afterwards and wants the deal, the call center gets the sale. One rep quoted a customer $22,000 on 18 windows, then using the used car salesman approach, starting dropping the price. He dropped it to $18,000 within about 10 minutes then as a last ditch effort, he did the old car salesman approach and did the “let me call my boss real quick” approach and after that, he dropped the price to $13,000.00 The look in the customers eyes was that of someone dealing with a slimy car salesman. 
You will have no life. I was told it’s a 6 day work week, but I was not told you only get Sunday off. So, don’t assume you get 2 days off. You are on call all 6 days as well- meaning you won’t know where or when your appointment is till 2 hours before the appointment time and it’s a 100 mile radius with no gas reimbursement, so if you live in Columbus, you could get a message at 5pm saying you have a sales appointment at 7pm in coshocton, Ohio, you go there and if ya don’t sell it, oh well- the 140 mile round trip you just made is on you, all the gas you spent for 140 miles is out of your pocket. 
Window Nation pays much better and gives you 2 days off, you get all your appointments the day before and gas reimbursement. I should have taken that job instead but I was told that Universal Windows Direct pays better. Boy was I wrong!

If I could give a zero star rating I would.
First Major problem: management Doesn't care for you PERIOD all they want is your work done. you have a problem tell someone else because they don't care.
Second Major problem: They suspect you to use your car all the time driving up to 300 miles a day with only the compensation of 25 bucks on your paycheck. 
Third Major Problem: HR has this crazy mindset of Culture. Thinking that if we give away a meal every quarter we have Culture.
Fourth Major problem: Scheduling is Not Even a thing they'll give you an outline of what to suspect but in the words of management it's not set in stone.
Five Major problem: The "schedule" does not consider Drive time nor are you paid while driving. So if you need to work a show in Asheville 2hours away from the office you drive a total of 4 hours not paid but only 50 Bucks of compensation for Gas which would equal the hourly Rate to suspect of 12.50. 
First minor issue: No one can make a decision in that place to save a life.

On a day to day bases. You should suspect to be there on time or get sent home with no pay. be yelled at for asking a simple question such as where are we canvasing today.  to than Drive to who knows where 4 times a day because management doesn't trust you being out there for than 5 hours. Not get lunch 90% of the time as there no set time for lunch. Get moved from what you were doing all day to go do something else like set up a show in Asheville 2 hours from the office in the Box Truck that Crushes Your spine to bits. to which you get back to the office 2-3 hours after you thought you would be done with your shift original. 

what to suspect at shows. you'll be treated like a Holy Grail if you get the most leads but if you fall short Tuff pudding You won't get the opportunity again into the Regional HR manager says Something. and it would usually come along as you get this number of leads at the show or kick rocks come Monday. 

This "Workplace" was a nightmare Nothing comes to light when I think of pros for this company. Just stay far away as possible.

I've seen them hire a manager Outside of the company to which he comes in like a big you know what in the locker room and fires an employee of 2 Years for Reasons unknown.

Working for Universal Windows Direct was one of the most frustrating job experiences I’ve ever had. As an outside sales rep, you’re promised “high-quality leads” and “uncapped earning potential,” but the reality couldn’t be further from the pitch. Most of the leads you’re sent to are in the worst possible areas, clearly unqualified, and often completely uninterested in even having a conversation. It feels less like sales and more like being set up to waste your time.

The management, while friendly on the surface, is completely clueless about how to actually support their reps. There’s no real strategy, no accountability in lead generation, and no willingness to address obvious problems. Instead, reps are pushed out day after day into dead-end appointments with zero payoff.

The end result? Endless hours of driving, knocking, and sitting through no-shows, all for little to no money. The company talks a big game about opportunity, but in practice, it’s a revolving door for sales reps who quickly realize they’re being taken advantage of.

If you value your time, your sanity, and your career, look elsewhere. Universal Windows Direct might be fine for the customers who buy, but for the salespeople trying to build a career, it’s a complete waste of time.

Most people had zero interest, zero money, and often had no clue why I was even showing up. Universal Windows Direct clearly doesn’t care about setting their reps up for success — they just throw bodies at appointments to say they’re “providing leads.”

The manager I had was a nice enough guy, but completely clueless when it came to leadership or running a sales team. There’s no real training, no support, and no accountability. You’re left spinning your wheels, burning gas and time, all for nothing. They feed you the fantasy of making big money, but the reality is you’re wasting your life chasing garbage leads while the company profits off your effort.

This place is a revolving door for a reason. They chew up reps, dangle empty promises, and burn them out until they quit. It’s not a career — it’s a scam disguised as an “opportunity.”

As a canvasser I went door to door setting appointments for free no-obligation quotes for various exterior remodeling projects. Initially I had absolutely no experience in that field. However, after a training period of several days I was given the tools and information effectively do what I was paid to do. 
Because management promotes from within, they generally do not look so much at seniority as they do overall performance. With that said, I was given the opportunity after but three weeks at the company to work a show. because of my performance while at the show I was expected to work every other show from that point forward. During the second show I attended I effectively set the bar to unparalleled heights, and in turn was given the golden opportunity to move into sales.
Training within each department was unlike any other training I've ever encountered. What I mean by that is, from the owners on down, everybody wants to see you succeed. Not only are you at times on the brink of information overload, but their words of encouragement seem to propel one farther than one can go him/herself.
Overall, it's a family atmosphere, friendly, and very inviting. 
The only reason why I chose to leave was since I moved really far away from the office it would make no sense, as far as time went, to commute back and forth day in and day out. Otherwise I would definitely still be working for that company.

You have to be able to make decisions and at times challenge your comfort zone. This is not a place for people who need to be guided every step of the way.  

This is a young and growing business.  Work will be rewarded.   Looking forward to moving into our new world headquarters in early 2019.

I very much enjoy the people that I work with. They are all helpful and trying to do their best. Unfortunately the company overall is not quite a "small business" but not as organized as most corporations. It's in the middle. The processes can be very unorganized and managers don't always give the same answers when you ask a question. It's confusing and makes it hard to get your job done. Maybe COVID has impacted the way things are done which causes the company to be more unorganized. People are working from a million different places and not on the same page some of the time.
 Overall I enjoy the culture and there is some flexibility with the work; whether that be the option to work remotely, adjust a schedule, try things a little differently, or even move into new jobs. Some jobs seem to have a better work/life balance than others. I would definitely talk to the company if you're considering them. The positions aren't for everyone, but if you can meet the requirements many of the jobs pay very well. 

first dissapointed not disgruntled. the product is good and the company could be. was promised 2-3 appt. per day 6 days a week and that was never realized it was 1-2 a maybe 3 a week 10-12 a month.  the marketing wasn't effective and it takes realistically 3 months before you'll see a commission. you'll drive more to the office than you will appointments. the appointments are supposed to be verified to eliminate one leggers but they are not.  you will have a car full of things to haul around and drive lots of miles mostly to the office so live close to the office or plan of spending tons on gas. appointments are up to 2 hours away and they don't look at maps when assigning appointments, logisistics are not considered when assigning them.   they hire twice the needed salesman which further cut your prospects of staying busy.  there was potential here but work for an established location.  if it's a new location like lexington/louisville kentucky  you'll starve for work and money. maybe someday they'll figure it out.

I was hired with no previous experience as an inside sales representative a few years ago and since then have received several raises a promotion and bonuses along with an increased overall pay structure. The Culture here is constant never ending improvement in our business and our personal lives as well. The leadership in this company is second to none and highly dedicated to the success of the team and equally its individuals. Literally my boss feels and shows that the most important part of his job is to consistently provide me with opportunities to make more money. Not only that but as I mentioned I had no previous experience but again the leadership dedicated itself to my training and personal development and ensured my success. If your looking for a job this may not be the right place for you but if you need a career and an opportunity this is the place for it

The whole thing is a big scam. They try to scam customers and want you to be a part of it. The best scammers are the only ones who get treated with any respect. If you are in sales the leads are horrible. I was constantly sent to homes that could not afford products because marketing teams would lie to them about pricing. This was a waste of time and often times put me in uncomfortable situations. They tell you you'll make tons of money, then never give you an opportunity to do so. The worst thing is if a customer wanted to call you back and buy from you, they would give that customer to someone else. You had already built a relationship with this customer, but in the company's eyes you were not pushy enough and did not force someone into spending 10-20k in a one hour sitting. The whole company and job left a poor taste in my mouth and if you are an honest person this is not the company for you.

No background checks. 
No drug test. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not receiving commission. The pay structure is set up for commission the base is section 8 livable. It’s impossible to gauge your next paycheck. Sometimes your commissions just “fall through” 
It’s a squirrel in a nut factory when your confront them regarding your money. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Phone will just ring. 
You don’t have to do much. 
Just sit there and pitch. Most of the time you deal with upset customers from the constant phone calls. The system changes the number if the customer blocks our original one. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Sit down. Turn the computer on and the system does the rest. 
30 min lunch clock in and out. 
15 minute break x2 clock in and out.
