What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being micromanaged by my supervisor and lied to and gossiped about to other employees, sharing my personal confidential business with staff. Being talked down to. Working short staffed during COVID 19 and  high employee turn over rate. Staff bringing drama to work everyday causing conflict. Given way to  many daily duties and responsibilities for one person to handle. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fun when you have a good manager and supervisor. When you work with a micromanager and all women tension and gossip is terrible and always being lied to and gossiped about it makes for a toxic environment. Having so much PTO time and sick time and always got talked about or people complained when someone took off time that employee earned to take off. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You are told you are hired on for one position and they expect you to answer a million calls a day and take messages from every call and are expected to still do scanning for all providers, reminder calls and other daily duties such as insurance verification, collect co pays and check in and check out duties. They expect too much from one person. They do not have a designated person at each person to train new employees. When new hire comes on they expect new hire to be ready with in 3-4 days and start working. This is not enough time to be thrown out to the wolves. You are nothing but a body in a chair to pick up everyone's slack. While people who have been there for years sit on their phones and do nothing and let phone ring. STRESSFUL NO THANK YOU!

I'll start off by saying I wasn't the best person for this job anyway. However, I gave it a chance and I'm thankful that this company gave it to me. I certainly would have saved myself a lot of time and anguish had I looked at the reviews of this company more in detail before accepting the position. I came from the Performance Rehab industry (Strength and Conditioning) and knew absolutely nothing about clinical nutrition. Nevertheless, I learned a lot about these patients and it's just more experience at the end of the day. Management was very reactive rather than proactive. There was never a conversation that could be had that if I ever expressed concerns about the hostile work environment, leadership always looked the other way and the one time I addressed it amongst my two coworkers, I was written up later that day (basically retaliation).  My peers were very condescending to me very early on and that was known amongst a lot of the clinical staff from day to day. I don't know what all I did to deserve such a nasty welcome from uprooting my life to come here. The hardest part of the job was knowing no matter what you did or didn't do, it was never enough to this mostly insatiable group. Lastly, the most enjoyable part of the job was seeing patients put the work in and continue to get better along with doing side tasks to help out other co-workers. Thankfully, I am past it all now and in a much better place. My final words to anyone who considers taking this job: just know that what happened to me, is what happened to the person before me also. Tread carefully. 

Overall, I enjoyed working for UPA. I feel like the pay was adequate and benefits were alright. Unfortunately, with the need to cut costs, positions were either let go or not filled once someone quit, adding to the already high workload of the department. Management at my office openly stated that each employee needed to perform the work of two, with no raise in sight. One employee in my department had worked there for nearly a decade and was never given a raise when the subject was brought up with management. 

Overall, your experience will depend on the office you work at. The office I worked in had wonderful employees, but management loved to micromanage, and it was common to get several emails per day about what workload was given attention to. Don't expect a raise EVER. Make sure you negotiate on the higher end for a salary if you plan to stay for a while. If you can work in these conditions, go for it. Unfortunately, the culture and management burned me out.

At first, this job seemed like it could really work out. It was temp to hire and first week of training went well. Soon though, I learned that friendliness can be a facade. My team leader was terrible at training. Often, she made the comments she was throwing me under the bus so that I could learn. There was lots of drama in my department. There were several really nice people who I hope to maintain friendships with. However, the workplace itself is very segmented, everyone to your own cubicle and you dare not be too friendly, less you be accused of wasting time. Production sounds completely reasonable and could possibly be with the correct training. However, neither my supervisor nor manager ever gave me a word of encouragement during training. My team leader actually told me not to get too excited when I finally did managed to correct my own mistakes without her help. This place is toxic. I would not recommend it unless you want to be a mouse on a wheel.

Overall experience of working with this company depends on the office worked in. I've heard of some that are very enjoyable with great management, but unfortunately that is not my experience at my office. Favoritism is common among management. They will place an even larger workload on employees they are not "friends" with. There are unrealistic expectations of how much work needs to be done by a certain deadline. The workload has continuously gone up without any raises or overtime option. Supposedly some employees have worked off the clock in order to maintain their deadlines. They claim to understand that "life happens," but when it does expect an unfriendly conversation with your supervisor. 
Benefits with the company are alright. There's medical, dental, 401K, vision, PTO, sick, and holidays off. Premiums for health plans are ok. Nothing great.

I enjoy working at UPA. 
The majority of management staff is focused on providing employees with a learning environment where you feel comfortable asking questions. They are very family oriented and encourage relationships within the billing office. There are a select few in leadership that do not always share that vision, but I have never had a problem with seeking help. There are plenty of opportunities to switch to different departments, given you have completed 1 year in your starting position. Quarterly bonuses are issued based off of your quality and production, and bonus points are issued for exceptional teamwork and timeliness. Saturday work days are offered once a month to offset time you may need to take off so that you don't have to use your PTO/sick time. They also collect donations year round through different events to distribute to team members who are struggling with money.

one of the most frustrating and disorganized experiences I’ve had in a workplace. Communication was consistently unclear, expectations changed without warning, and there was little to no support when issues came up.
Management felt more reactive than proactive, which created unnecessary stress for staff. Instead of fostering a professional and respectful environment, it often felt tense and unstructured. Concerns were either dismissed or ignored, making it difficult to feel valued or heard as an employee.
There was also a noticeable lack of consistency in how policies were applied, which led to confusion and, at times, favoritism. Overall, it did not feel like a place where employees were set up to succeed or grow.
I would not recommend working here unless significant changes are made to leadership approach, communication, and overall workplace culture.

I have worked for UPA for several years now and can honestly say, I hope I never leave! There is a great support system around you with people willing to help answer your questions and provide room for growth within your role. They are also a very family oriented company with PTO starting at over 3 weeks as a new employee and separate sick leave days in order to help offset some of those unexpected days. We have regular group gatherings around the holidays, there is a team member event each year which has included a cookout, carnival, and last year was a Smokies Baseball game for the entire family. I don't know a lot of other companies who show their appreciation throughout the year like UPA does. Great room for growth, great people to work for, and great managemen!

Good place to work front office is completely different then the back office. Not a place to feel like you are home/family.  Learning each doctor/nurses schedule and how they run there office is hard. Along with what each nurse sees as triage. Talking with the patients is a plus. Whether it is on the phone taking their refill requests sending a message back to the nurse,  or talking to them In person when they come in for there appointments . Management is a plus they want to help you understand most of the things that you need to know, but when you don't understand  something sometimes it's like pulling teeth to make them understand what you need help with.

enjoyable experience depends on the office worked in, I worked in approximately 7 offices. 
They do not offer open positions when one opens up. You have to submit a new application and interview for the position as if you will be a new employee. I have NEVER seen any other company do this.
Changes in upper management has made work at UPA less enjoyable and more stressful. The best managers have had to find other employment or take early retirement.
On the whole, it's a typical job, stressful, some employees and  managers are unpleasant or difficult to work with.
It''s VERY difficult to gain employment with them, but worth a try.
