It has personally been so difficult working at Vista Springs Wyoming. When I first started working there I loved my job! I realize every job has issues and could use self improvement in certain areas, but overall I felt cared for and I felt I was able to truly help and give of myself to the residents. Ever since management changed over last fall every aspect of Vista has gone downhill. As a former employee and speaking for my co-workers, management has literally made us feel so unappreciated and cared so little for our residents that we have felt we have had to make a choice of either quitting for our own stability and self preservation, or needing to stay for the well being of our community members. We can't keep any new employees because we can't even train them properly, and they are just watching staff run around with their heads cut off that I'm sure they are horrified of working here. After just 2 days of training on the floor our schedulers put new employees on the floor because we are already understaffed? It got so bad that we had a staffing agency, yet... they even managed to still mess up the schedule and short staff us some days, and over staff us other days? Heck, I feel I could run Vista Springs and be a full time college student and still do better! It's been so disheartening to watch this place slowly fall apart and still have to put a smile on for the families... act like everything is okay while we only have 2 people on the floor for 50 residents (some with hoyers), and our management is giving TOURS of the facility to fill up the rooms even more! Ultimately, it's about the residents. They are paying my monthly bills and they get so little for it... even if management just communicated and acted like they cared about the staff and tried to help
Out? We would feel so much better and things would improve, but sadly Vista Springs is just full of broken promises.

Community members are why we do what we do . They are deserving of the best care possible and MOST of the Personal care partners do just that. HOWEVER, many do not take work serious. But, do not bother mentioning it to the new director or any management at all. The hard workers are there with heart , total focus and concern. Management does nothing about the problem. There is a complete disconnect when you approach the Director on any matter. You feel invisible and ignored . As a result, the work morale suffers. This place used to have the best executive director. It was an incredible place to be. Staff was treated well and made to feel valued. NOW, staff is treated like the dirt you walk on. 

Management is on a power trip and seems to feel 'above' the 'lowly' care givers. But in reality , if it were not for these wonderful caregivers , they would not exist. Currently , the hardest part of the job would be dealing with ill equipped, insensitive managers and a disconnected Executive Director who is not a good fit for this line of work or company. The nurse is constantly ignoring requests to look in on community members , this is completely unacceptable. 
Co- workers on the other hand for the most part are kind hearted individuals who give their all. Unfortunately , the good ones are chased out the door after so long of feeling undervalued  . 
The community members are so sweet. They become family.

There is a high turnover as of late. Used to be a happy place to work, so everyone wanted to stay. Now, the same people who came in daily smiling and left happy at the end of their shift  .... are not excited to come in like they used to be.

My typical day of work is not your normal typical day at work. Our management team here at Vista Springs Edgewood (Lansing, MI) makes you feel like you are at home. Yes, we are working our 8 hour days each week, but you forget about being at work because you are doing what you love. There is so much room for job advancement and multiple training opportunities to grow within the company or as we call it our "Vista Springs family." Management enjoys hearing each employee's voice for new ideas, solving problems, and listening to each persons concerns. Management has created a work environment that every new hire feels like they are right at home and welcome. To me, having a voice within my job/the company is very important and something I look for with any job I have worked and there are very few that do. I have personally grown so much within our Vista family and will be able to take a lot of what I learned here at Vista Springs Edgewood and be able to apply it to my everyday life. The most enjoyable part of my job here is really the events we do. We have done some of the most extraordinary events here, whether it is a staff appreciation, fundraising for Alzheimer's Association, or holiday parties they the most rewarding events! To be able to see our Community Members interact and smile with our staff and myself is amazing and really, you wont have a better day than that! If you are hesitant about applying here at Vista Springs, I would please give it a try and I would 100% recommend that you will eventually fall in love with our family here, you will LOVE it!!!

Their cutlure is very wild west and out dated. Too many managers trying to run one department at a time. Very unhappy residents and quality of life. They tend to keep the employees who aren't worth the time and they let go the ones who truly cared about the well being of the residents and the employees. This location in particular needs people who are not only passionate about what they do but truly care about the well being of others as opposed to coming in and making a paycheck. The amount of ego that gets in the way is astronomically high and it is truly ridiculous how they expect a five star quality of life for the residents but aren't willing to put in the effort or work and when it fails they blame the people who try their best instead of trying to improve their weakest links. Communication is their worst asset and it starts from management, they will never admit that but I digress. If their owner where to truly see and hear how that location was truly ran on a daily basis and if he had a heart he would start from scratch. You've had a loaction fail before and this loaction is on the same track. Which is a shame because eat the end of the day the residents end up suffering the most. It's truly embarrassing because their is people in that location who truly do their best to make sure everything runs smoothly but booth poor management and ego gets in the way of having a remarkable place for people to enjoy their live as opposed to waiting for the day they die.

This company is, without question, the most dysfunctional and demoralizing place I’ve ever worked. Upper management is disingenuous, manipulative, and solely driven by profit—any claim that they care about employees or residents is pure lip service. Promises of support are empty; leadership is virtually nonexistent, showing up only a handful of times a year. New managers are thrown in with no training, no guidance, and no tools to succeed.

The culture is built on dishonesty and blame. You’ll be led to believe you’re doing well, only to be blindsided by criticism that often relates to problems predating your employment. Turnover is staggering—directors rarely last six months, often driven out by impossible demands and a complete lack of support. The expectations are unrealistic, and when you inevitably fall short, the backlash is swift and personal.

Despite pouring your heart into the job for the sake of the residents, your dedication will be met with indifference and backroom politics. The environment is toxic, the leadership is ruthless, and the CEO fosters a culture of fear and manipulation. I had been warned about the company’s reputation before accepting the role. I regret not listening. If you value your well-being, think very carefully before getting involved.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working at this company is the residents and the coworker connections that you make here. The team that I worked with was amazing I made some of my closest friends here. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part about this job is wondering what comes next. There is no communication from upper management to supervisors or supervisors to staff. Simply put the communication is terrible and you never know what's going to come next or what's happening half of the time .

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is severely toxic specifically certain coworkers and generally upper management with exceptions.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day consists of clocking in going to my floor doing my job performing ADLs, passing meds, Etc. while also helping out on every other floor it is impossible to do just your floor as the facility is so short staffed you need to help out everywhere you can and not in the supportive team way in the there's nobody else to do the job way.

The management is the worst I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Management is like a older and depressing version of mean girls. One manager will purposely get her jollies off by giving some of the staff a hard time. This is actually well know at Vista Springs and nothing is done about it. The staff is a joke. Some of the staff people really do care and work very hard but majority of them will wait till after they get back from lunch (a 30 minute break) to do a brief change on somebody who really needs it.  While I worked at vista springs residents would managed to fall out of bed in the middle of the night and not one person would know till breakfast is being served. So this mean not one person checked on this person all night. 
The kitchen staff are great. The kitchen manager runs that place so well and all of the food is really made with care. The food is really good tasting also.
 Maintence dose really well also you always see them working on something or cleaning. That place is well kept up thanks to the maintence staff. 

I wouldn't let Vista Springs staff watch my pet hamster if I had one.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing except getting to know some of the residents.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Micromanagement,not being able to run the departments the way you want too.to get the best efficient  departments they could have.not having enough in the budget to meet rising costs,not being able to buy what you need to do your job. Not being able to work as a teem they had a divide and concur  mentality,against what all successful corporations are doing with.team efforts. Lack of training and guidance.  Unreasonable time lines, lack of proper planing.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Divide and concour mentality . Company upper management doesn't  know how to properly run a business. Lack of doing the right things with good conscience. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Not running things the right ways.

I loved the job I had when it came to the duties and the professional settings of it. My schedule was perfect for my circumstances. Although the pay was decent, it wasn’t enough for the type of tasks us concierges performed. My schedule would have to be moved around at random to accommodate other concierges which would effect my money. Management were nice but could improve in listening to others. You could tell them something that truly concerns you, or something that would benefit the company, and they wouldn’t listen until something disastrous actually happens. Although everyone was very nice to me, they didn’t care about me personally, they have their favorites. Overall, because of the job itself the concierge jobs are amazing. Unfortunately, the other staff were unhappy most of the time.
