Waters Edge Dermatology

Although I had previous dermatology experience before coming to Waters Edge, it did not matter because the offices operate very differently. Unfortunately at WatersEdge Dermatology, there is no team effort. Instead, others will look for your flaws and compare you to others. You are judged from the moment you start your first day. You work on your feet all day until you go to lunch, then work until the manager says you are allowed to leave despite patients have left and office has been cleaned. The “favorites”get to leave without cleaning up. Schedules changes frequently throughout the day and it might change by morning so expect a call or text at 5 or 6 am to reroute! No sense of stability. Nurse practitioners are not pleasant at all, also cliquish with the staff. The Physician Assistants are nice but also cliquish.  The physicians are nice to work with and have respect for all employees. When you do float to other locations to help because they are short handed, the favorites leave as soon as their last patient has left, while the others are told to clean those rooms as well as their own, take out the garbage and any other task they do not feel like doing is unload shipments of supplies.

Working at Water's Edge Dermatology has been a highly rewarding experience and a company I'm very grateful to have joined. The people are what make this company great as they are the biggest contributor to such a positive work culture and are the reason why we've had so much growth and success as a company. With that offers so much opportunity for internal growth, learning and development opportunities that are available to those who are interested and that are willing to put in the work to get there. 

It has been a great experience working with the team here. I genuinely feel supported, valued and encouraged to contribute my own ideas and suggestions as to how we can evolve as a company and get better as we grow. 

I've seen some of the negative reviews on here, but keep in mind there is always another side of the story you don't always get perspective on. What I can tell you is that if you have a great work ethic, positive mindset and a willingness to learn, you will be successful here!


Upper management promotes based on favoritism. They will will promote someone who has been with the company 6 months instead of someone who has been for several years. They let providers demean you if they bring in “money” to the company. The pay is great but the pressure to do things understaffed and get no overtime is insane. They have a huge over turn rate right now because of all the changes and expectations. They make changes and don’t inform all the offices. They are quick to write someone up and suspend them for no reason. They complain about gossip but are the first ones gossiping. Upper management has made fun of employees who have applied for positions. Denied them this positions with statements like we don’t want one person with two positions but then when it’s convenient for them will give it to someone else. They promote people into management positions and don’t provide the proper tools for them to succeed. When a good employee complains instead of addressing the situation they rather find a way to get rid of them. It wasn’t always like this. Now everything is about money.

I have to say that I have been blown away with my own personal journey since starting with the company over a year ago. I have not only learned more than I could have ever imagined...but I had fun while doing it! The providers are just amazing!  They are always willing to teach you and help you understand why they do what they do. They work with such passion and make you feel so important. Like we are all on the same team. Because we are without a doubt! The Dr.'s are young and vibrate and always learning themselves. That to me speaks volumes about their passion for skin and helping others feel good in theirs as well. I have found that everyone in the company is very approachable. Even all the way to the top.  The CEO is always encouraging the team members to reach out directly to him...and we do!! The benefits are great and during the Covid 19 this company rocked it!! I have nothing but praise for The Water's Edge Company. I would encourage new hires to give them a chance as they will not disappoint. Le't be honest we are all aging everyday and the perks of derm. are fantastic. :) 

A typical day at Water's Edge depends on the type of schedule whether its a surgery day or not. In the morning we prepare for the day by setting up the rooms and OR rooms. We stock the room by what type of day we are having. We print out patient schedule so we can review patient before the appointment time to make sure we go over any important information and be prepared for the patient. Front and back staff work great together making the day run smoothly. The hardest part of the day would be accommodating emergency appointments which can make the schedule fall behind and upset the patients but we always keep the patients updated with status of their appointment. The most enjoyable part of the day is lunch time when we all get together and reflect on the morning and also get to really converse with each other.

management in this place is no good. too many "managers". Between team leads, clinical supervisor, and office manager... it is chaotic. only the strong survive here bc the MAs/nurses are headstrong and come off rude. the schedule is messed up, it comes out day-by-day which makes it tough for people who have families.
the office is opened a Saturday or 2 a month, which they are supposed to rotate the nurses, but instead, most of the time they will put the same people on for Saturdays. Favoritism is huge here. if you're not cool with the higherups.... just leave. don't get me wrong, I learned a lot here and they pay you what you are worth. 
loved my coworkers and doctors I worked with, some days were easy and some days were absolutely crazy and understaffed.

My work day day started off by arriving 30 minutes before patients appointments. We would restock the rooms and prepared surgical trays for the procedures that day. The day would be very fast paced but very fun. Our relationships with the patients were always top priority. The workplace culture was very open. They do not discriminate anyone. The hardest part of the job was sometimes staying after hours to catch up on charting but they have a staff and management who is always willing to help where it is needed. The most enjoyable part of the job was the relationship with my co-workers. We all got along very well and helped each other in every way possible. I have learned to work in a fast paced environment and to keep up with the provider. I also have learned to do other duties outside my field as in front desk work and billing/

Before beginning At waters edge I heard great things. Those great things were before waters edge became corporate. Not only does the company not care about their staff, but they are a patient mill that is constantly pressuring  their staff to see more and more patients even if it means working 6 days a week and rarely having an approval for time off due to “lack of coverage”. Waters Edge frequently preaches to employees who have remained Loyal about their right budget since the pandemic, for example taking base pay and benefits away from some employees, and not providing raises to their loyal employees, but then turns around and buys a multi million dollar practice. This company absolutely will not value you and will not hesitate when it comes to screwing you over. It is a corporate nightmare.

I would give this place zero stars across the board, if I could. After working here for almost 5 years, I am still completely unappreciated and unsupported. Management is a joke, and HR does nothing about it. As a company, this place will not support you even if you’re a dedicated, hardworking person. If you prove that you can work under pressure, they’ll expect you to do just that on a consistent basis. I was never a disciplinary issue. Never a single written or verbal write up. Tread with caution when working here. If you’re planning on working somewhere that appreciates you and plans on you staying with the company long term - then keep looking. There’s a reason why this place has such a high turnover rate. The few “good reviews” you’ll see in here, are either from people in HR, or were written years ago when this place was actually decent.

When I first began at Water's Edge, I enjoyed learning about dermatology. However,a few months in and I realized that the company only cares about itself and filling a seat, even if that means inadequate training followed with being lead by ineffective managers. Anytime I or anyone else expressed a complaint about the work, workload, an employee, we were dismissed, told to deal with it and sometimes being made to feel guilty for feeling upset. When i put in my resignation notice, the executive managers had the audacity to try and guilt me into staying with the company and offered empty promises. Needless to say, yes I do miss the salary, but I have found that money isn't what makes a job great.
