Westlake dermatology looks like a good idea until you realize how truly rotten the place is. It is like high school all over again! Teachers play favorites. It is like the hunger games when it comes to sales! 
The medical assistants are seeing 30-50 patients a day! Traveling is part of the job! They might not tell you that initially BUT if your doctor is on vacation your automatically assigned to go to a different facility regardless if you live 45 minutes the opposite direction! (Who cares about mileage reimbursement) 
Upper management is non-existent! .... there is NO training you are THROWN in “sink or swim” 
Multiple medical assistant cry because they feel “too fat” and pressure to lose weight to work here ... 
-Apperance matters ALOT
-Compensation is very very terrible
- Perks are nice part of working with the company but it seems like they are also hard to come by
-Some doctors are amazing to work with while others are rude and treat you as you are inferior to them!

First of many complaints of this employer. This one pertains to the company. There is a 60 day waiting period for benefits. No PTO is accrued during this time as well. 
The following complaints are lab specific. The lab director is unprofessional and incapable of maintaining a positive work culture. There are many instances of favoritism and retaliation between him and other employees.  Poor communication and mishandling of situations pertaining to patient care run rampant. The workflow and expectations are inconsistent. Training is poorly managed and full of holes. Even if you are hired for full time and there is a slow day, the lab director will send you home, thereby robbing you of money and hours. Not a professional lab by any means and if you are looking for growth in your career, there is no room for that here. 

HR has extremely unreasonable expectations when it comes to training new employees and misleads them into believing that they have a stable job, when in reality (part time and full time) employees have a 60 day evaluation period and if they don’t pass HR’s “mystery” test, then they are fired immediately. I would’ve never guessed that such a prestigious company would treat employees like this and would withhold such vital information from them during their interview/ onboarding process. It’s almost as if they do not want their new employees to succeed. I would highly advise potential employees to not be blindsided by Westlake’s glamorous exterior and avoid this company at all costs.

I worked with one of the most amazing providers out of my entire career when I was at Westlake Dermatology. This practice has so many wonderful, caring and talented doctors providing care to patients all over Austin & surrounding areas. Unfortunately the HR department and management is some of the worst I’ve experienced. I absolutely loved what I did at this practice & was devastated when I decided to leave after many years there. The company treats you as if you are easily  dispensable & pay raises or moving up in the company is very rare.

There are so many great perks (low cost plastic sx/free injectibles) working at WD, however, sometimes the pay is just not worth it. They do not value their employees, and the owners make you feel quite dispensable regardless of how hard you work. For example, the employee who doesn't do anything will receive the same pay/benefits as the person who does it all. If you're not worried about living expenses, this is definitely a great place to work. If you're concerned about cost of living/job growth, seek employment elsewhere.

We saw a high volume of patients with scheduled surgeries. We had a good team and we all worked well together. Our physician was an amazing boss and team lead and our front office staff was supportive and knowledgeable. I managed all medical and surgical supplies. I learned a great deal about the dermatology field, medications and treatments, skin cancer, surgeries and MOHS surgery. I also assisted with many types of  plastic surgeries. The hardest part of my job was when we had a diagnosis of melanoma.

Westlake Dermatology is a great place to work if you like a fast paced environment. There are a lot of great employees that work there and have become good friends with several of them.

Training could be better but the office is fast paced so sometimes there is not enough time to be thoroughly trained before being on the floor. 

Good benefit package and bonus and discount perks. 

Office Managers and Upper Management are very approachable and accessible. Generally promote from within which is great.

While it is a beautiful office, & work benefits sound amazing, however, you have a 60 day probationary period & it is very unlikely with how quick their turn over rate is to even make it that far. 
Micro management is an extreme issue here to where they even tell you what type of bag to bring to work.
Management has unrealistic expectations of the job & will not properly train you to succeed. If you ask for help it is seen as a negative. 
I would never recommend this company to anyone.

The Benefits and bonuses. The pay is average but the other makes up for it

The job isn’t stressful, as long as you do your job

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very friendly, they don’t allow clicks.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Prepare the rooms for the day , triage pt, chart for Provider, stock, answer phone message and Handel taskes.

Working for Westlake was not a great experience, and the turnover rate is reflective of that. Nursing staff is grossly underpaid. There is some interesting internal dynamics with the lead practice staff that are reflective of grooming. I did not feel valued in my time with the practice.
