Xpress Wellness Urgent Care

This is definitely my favorite company that I  have the opportunity to be a part of. In a fast paced environment, Organized Chaos as I would simply describe it, you will definitely not be bored. Slower mornings gradually picking up as the day goes on, with the occasional rush of patients ever so often, that usually tapers off towards the end of the day. Checking in patients, scanning in documents into charts, answering phones, and assessing some emergent situations. In this position I have learned to better my people/customer service skills and how the smallest of interactions can affect a person's day especially when they are not feeling well. 
I will say that in previous places that the management is why I left but here, I am comfortable to go to any of the management team and express any of my concerns or questions and know those concerns aren't going to be dismissed. Like every job, not everyday is going to be perfect. I think that the hardest part of the job is remembering that when patients come in they are not always feeling the best and that can sometimes effect their interactions. As the PSS (Patient Service Specialist - Front Desk) you are the first and last person they see when coming into the clinic, and your interaction can make a difference on how the rest of their visit goes. Even though this is one of the hardest parts of the job, I believe it's one of the most enjoyable and important parts of the job! 

co-workers are great! management is difficult to get through sometimes. I started when lots of changes were undergoing so it felt like I got the short end of the stick. 
due to my schooling the original full time job wasn’t in line with what they were looking for, so I gladly took the PRN position offered. 
PRN was great during training and I was getting hours, but of course PRN is as needed. Well they have enough staff, you aren’t needed until LAST minute. Which for some that works. As someone with 2 jobs, school and a child, I never really appreciated being messaged the morning of asking about working. Which I could say no, but it makes me feel bad since this is the position I signed up for. I just thought it’d be something more organized I suppose. 
I asked for a full time spot that opened, was told I can get more hours and didn’t get them. the position was given away due to already having interviews I assume. 
now the one day a week I do work, the hours are getting cut due to basically over staffing. 
all in all, I have enjoyed working here and have made connections that I hope never die. but there’s a lot of changes going on and a lot of workers feeling it. lots of changes could be made, I hope they continue to grow. however, personally I don’t believe this could be a long term job. 
I could go on and on but we all have different experiences, I’d still recommend people go try this place out! 

I love working and being part of Xpress Wellness Urgent Care Medical Community. I work with like-minded, compassionate, and proactive medical providers and staff whose goal is to give exceptional care to the patients. We see urgent care patients, DOTs, EPSs, school physicals and see patients of all ages and acuities as sometimes patients come here first even though they definitely need to be seen in the  ER. We have an option to schedule appointments, we have walk-ins, and we triage patients on an individual basis. The workload is fast paced, exciting, sometimes stressful, and workdays are sometimes longer as we take care of patients when they come few minutes before the closing and we stay late, however it is a nature of the urgent care. The company is excellent with communication between the providers, staff and the administration, and in my experience, Xpress Wellness has a community where each employee and patient is valued and heard. The whole point of any Urgent Care is to provide excellent care to every patient that is seen, and Xpress Wellness staff does exactly that and more. 

Initially, the company sounds great. They will promise you a "family" setting. Then, policies start to change constantly. At first, the money seems great, but the longer you are there, the more you realize there are better jobs out there. Owners will smile a lot, but make no mistake: the bottom line is not employees, but money!. 
Typical work day: Start at 8 am with already patients waiting outside. End the day not at 8 pm, but whenever the last patient walks through the door. Even if you still have 10 patients in the waiting room. They will send your support staff home at 8, but you can stay with one MA/LPN until the last patient is seen. The latest I left was 2230, but you have to be back at 8 am. Management does not come to you with any complaints but goes straight to the owner, who then relays it to the HR man, who will contact you with a complaint. This often happens within 5-10 min of what was perceived as the complaint. In other words, the entire crew up the ladder will know about a complaint, before you do. You will also never get a lunch break, you eat in between seeing patients. Don't try to get a day off, you have to schedule that 3 months in advance. Do not question their decisions. You may be an educated person, but you will be treated like a bus boy.

Varying on your shift, you can have a very decent day, busy or not, or you can have a day filled with inconvenient, tedious and unnecessary work. Door to door times are pushed to be around 60 minutes per patient, this allots how many hours you can get per week based on the clinics overall performance. However, Providers are the driving factor in said times. An MA visit takes roughly 10-15 minutes, the bad Provider in Broken Arrow specifically, can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours with a sick patient. This hinders patient volume massively, this Provider also hinges on workplace hostility, constantly demeaning your work while you have to hold their hand through basic tasks like refilling printer paper. Management does nothing about this issue. The culture overall between Medical Assistants is simple and cordial, with friendships developing easily. Rule of thumb is don't trust anyone in management and don't hyperbolate anything you say. Management culture is toxic and downright demeaning. Railroading Clinic "Leads" with Managerial tasks and oversight, but no salary and lower pay. High risk, low reward. 

Training was lacking in how to handle irate patients and the collection of copays. The smaller less busy clinics were wonderful to work at and I enjoyed my times there. The shawnee south clinic was a nightmare. Incredible understaffed for the patient load. Front reception was consistently in a hostile environment and was always left to deal with irate customers in a secluded environment separated from the rest of the staff. The reception job tasks far exceed what is listed in the job description. You cannot voice your opinion without consequence and the management is extremely lacking. The providers are the "real" managers and the people with management titles bend over backwards for the providers. If a provider has an issue with a staff member that issue is taken at face value and the staff member being accused of anything is automatically written up with no voice or ability to provide disputing evidence. Mentally and emotionally unsafe environment.

My experience working here highlighted a gap between expectations placed on staff and the level of support provided by leadership. While there are good team members and some strong leaders, the overall structure can feel inconsistent.

Staffing and labor management decisions often created unnecessary pressure on clinic teams, especially during busy periods. Employees were expected to maintain high performance standards without always having the resources or support needed to do so effectively.

Communication from leadership could be unclear or delayed, and at times it felt like decisions were made without fully understanding the day-to-day reality of clinic operations. This led to frustration and contributed to turnover in some areas.

There is potential within the organization, but improvements in leadership transparency, staffing strategies, and employee support would go a long way in creating a more stable and positive work environment.

very unorganized with all clinics. Training was not reasonable. They don't make it known when you have your interview or when you get the position,  that it's suppose to be your only and primary job. Providers in duncan talk bad about the patients loudly when patients are in their assigned room. Many people who work for the company are very judgemental about every single person that wants to be seen. Some of the workers are bullies and want to play good girl when the bosses are around. There is a lot of unnecessary drama. Instead of getting to know their coworkers,  they insist on coming to the conclusion up front if they don't like somebody that is willing to work with the company and has acquired skills they have never seen before.  Very unprofessional and spoiled brats. Management seems like they are lost. The whole company seems as if it was put together overnight with no guidelines. Horrible environment to work in for someone who genuinely cares about the patients. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
If I could give this job 0 stars I would. This place is the definition of a hot mess. No organization, management sucks and communication is never relayed correctly. Everything constantly changes and it seems no one ever has an idea of how to do things correctly. But I would say the main issue is management. They reach out to you if a patient complains and they do not discuss the issue, they just directly blame you for something you never did. They make it really clear through this company all they care about is money and not the patients. You rarely ever speak to management yourself and half the time you email them on an issue, they never respond. I have worked for better companies to AT LEAST HAVE BETTER COMMUNICATION SKILLS THAN THIS PLACE. I just do not think this is a great place to work at.

After working at Xpress for over a year I finally had enough. Not only do they not care about their employees but they do not have good managers or administrators. You work 12 hour rotating shifts except Sundays which is 6 hours. We were due for our annual raise In August and never got it. They were hiring new people that made more than the people that had worked there for over a year. 
The area managers have no experience being managers and get stressed too easily. They travel between the clinics they're responsible for. You only see your manager MAYBE 1 or 2 times every other week. There is no communication between anyone in the company. Only the providers get treated like actual human beings. Xpress wellness made it obvious that they are only concerned about the patient volume as well as patient reviews. Employees are not their top concern.
