Working at webuyanycar, you’ll go to a training centre for a couple of weeks. The training is ok, they do thoroughly teach you the procedures to purchasing cars correctly. After training, you will be fit to be in your branch by yourself and purchase cars. Purchasing cars is pretty easy, quite self-explanatory and they do have a good system on the tablet devices that guide you through the purchase journey, however, it comes with A LOT of stress and unfair companywide processes that make it nearly impossible to hit your targets and earn any commission whatsoever. 

When you get into the branch in the morning, you could be in a pod (wbac branded porter cabin) in the middle of a car park or an office inside an empty building, in my experience. You’ll open your tablet and go on teams for your morning brief. The briefs are generally to point out weaknesses within the group and to force you to guess how many cars you’re going to buy that day. They’ll speak to you about why you’re failing and will not acknowledge certain processes within the company that hinders your ability to do the job efficiently. 

You might have 13 appointments one day, and 1 appointment the next. One thing you absolutely must note, is you’re only provided with 20 minutes to complete the purchase, so if one customer books at 10 am, another can book for 10:20 am. These appointments are impossible to fulfil in 20 minutes. Customers will ALWAYS be late, whether that’s 5 minutes, 10 minutes or even over an hour late. You’re given 20 minutes to complete a purchase that in many cases will take you up to 40 minutes. What happens when a customer is 10 minutes late and you have another customer outside waiting? You will be behind on your appointments for the rest of the day. Each customer that is late will delay all of your other appointments. There’s no reason why the company can’t allow 45 minutes for appointments rather than 20. You might only have 4 appointments for that day, there’s no reason why they have to be spaced 20 minutes apart rather than 1 hour apart. It WILL make the job easier and customer satisfaction will go up because they’re not waiting 20-30 minutes after the time they booked in for. 

When the customer arrives at the branch, you’ll input their mileage into the tablet. It’s an easy process, you add their service history, the tablet will tell you if there are any mileage discrepancies etc, and then you’ll look around the car. You’ll point out absolutely anything you see on the car. Whether it’s 1 stone chip or 50 scratches, dents, stone chips or general wear and tear. Every car that you inspect WILL decrease in value pretty dramatically, so much so that it will either offend the customer or completely baffle them as to why so much has been taken off. The grading system is a borderline joke and as a purchaser, I have personally been called a scammer by customers for just doing my job and presenting prices the tablet has told me the car is worth based on the condition of the car. You can even have fall-outs with customers you’ve built a great rapport with because of the final valuation and even as a purchaser that thoroughly understands the system, you can struggle to justify the price drop in some cases. 

Customers will usually be very offensive right off the bat because we buy any car that has a bad reputation for devaluing cars. 

You might have 10 appointments booked and only 2 show up that day. Has happened to me MANY times. You’re targeted, depending on your region, around a 43% conversion rate. You’re expected to purchase around 5 out of 10 appointments that book an appointment. you miss your conversion target when customers don’t show, it’s still counted against you, unfairly. If 5 out of 10 customers show, you might only buy 3 out of 5, which in my opinion is good, however, you only hit 30% conversion that day, didn’t hit the target. 

Grade match target (how accurate you described the car based on a percentage) is doable, however, the more accurate you are with your grade match, the more money gets deducted from the customers' car, the less likely you are to purchase it. 

I’d like to note, in my 8 months, I did not earn commission on any one of the 125 cars I purchased! Because A, customers didn’t show and I missed conversion target, or B, because I missed grade match target in order to purchase more cars and get management off my back. 

I was GOOD at my job, I always had my head down, built great rapports with customers, kept my branch clean, dressed well, was a good ambassador for the company, that will never be enough for this company, because their targets and processes are designed to rip you and the customer off in order to maximise revenue for the company. 

Company, please explain why when a car valued under £1000 books in for an appointment, even before adding any defects the valuation can deduct around £400? It happened to me COUNTLESS times. The grading system is from a 1 being excellent condition to a 5 being extremely bad. Cars valued under £1000 are automatically categorised a 3. WHY value someone’s car £900 which is grade 1, only to then go and DEVALUE it automatically in branch? That’s very dishonest. 

 I was told I’d have my own branch and instead I was moved around 5 different branches everyday. Meaning I had to do key handovers with other colleagues after work or even on my days off.

Overall, the job can be dehumanising, soul destroying, unproductive, boring, depressing and humiliating. 
I didn’t enjoy my time at we buy any car, at all. 

However, it really did allow me to progress my career in the automotive industry, and everywhere I’ve interviewed for since has been impressed with wbac on my CV based on how challenging it is to work there. 

If you’re looking for a job and have no other options, it’s ok. Build yourself up in this company, get your wages, get experience in sales, customer service etc, then go interview for jobs on your day off. Nobody here really lasts more than a year. The new starters compared to long term employees was crazy at the annual meet up.  


When I interviewed for the job, it was definitely dressed up to look like a completely different job. Retail Branch ‘Manager’ is a very loose term. The only reason they have given you that title is because you are responsible for the branch as you work completely on your own day-to-day. 

There is no management apart from you need to make sure you have enough stationary and supplies in the branch, and even then when you run out management expect you to pay out of your own pocket such as paper, you then have to wait months before they get around to sorting out your expenses, same goes for your fuel you’ve paid out of your own pocket in order to travel to a different branch as a ‘favour’.

I learnt the hard way by doing a couple of favours after being pressured shortly after starting by having to open my own branch before completing my two weeks training with an experienced buyer. I then had a phone call out of work hours pressuring me into covering a busier branch that I’ve not worked in which was also five times the distance I would usually travel to work. An area manager said he would stay with me and support me for the day as I was new to the business, he stayed for about an hour before leaving me on my own. After an extremely stressful day I returned to work the next day and didn’t even receive a thank you. 

When it came my turn to ask a favour and ask for a day off for a funeral, I was point blank refused as “there is nobody to cover and the branch needs to be open for a certain amount of hours” that is when I knew I was just a number in the company. 

The actual job isn’t too bad, customers bring cars to you, you inspect them and have to knock money off if there’s damage or marks on the car. The next part is you having to explain to the customer the difference in prices and why etc. Extremely rare occasion if the customer doesn’t argue the price with you. Also management would pressure you to pressure the customers to sell their cars for you, humiliating you in front of customers as they want you to leave them on the phone as they listen to you try and close the sale, shouting down the phone at you as you’re trying to speak to a customer. One of the posters in branch says it is a ‘no pressure sale’ this is definitely not the case when you have an area manager breathing down your neck at all times. 

The biggest obstacle of the job is no shows, customers books appointments and then don’t show up. But thus is your fault and it affects your targets, even though half of the time the customers who don’t turn up don’t even answer the phone to you to confirm their appointment or even give a fake number. This would then lead to you losing any chance of getting a bonus, but yet again more pressure from management because if you earn bonus, they earn bonus. 

The shift pattern is awful also, I worked every weekend and had two days in the week off. I had absolutely no life during my time with WBAC and would suggest anybody wanting to apply to be prepared for that themselves also. Annual leave was decent, but actually trying to get a day off you had to move mountains and always to no avail.

In my role, few days are alike! Business has changed dramatically over the years, as has the nature of my work, with frequent advancement. I love the collaborative environment that welcomes trying new things, values quick experiments over slow research, and is fun to come to every day.

As a small, technology-driven company, the pace of change can be rough. It has improved by leaps and bounds since I first joined the company, but we're still moving fast and can implement solutions in days instead of months. For me, the trade-off of hard work for quick results is worth it! I can't promise you will always enjoy your days in the moment, but you'll almost always learn something new and hone your skills. I often look back after a few months and marvel at how far my group and the company have come. Someone smart once said that the days were long but the years were short, and that has been true for me.

Before here, I always held multiple jobs simultaneously - different ways to keep challenged because no one place provided everything I needed. This company has changed that for me, and in the process, vastly expanded my personal and professional skills.

While getting unfiltered critical feedback can be hard, it is a gift that you can take and apply to better yourself. I'd never worked anywhere before where it was acceptable to be so honest and direct to your peers and management, and it is refreshing.

I've been fortunate to work with most of my colleagues for many years, even as strong performance is rewarded with new challenges. In my field, job-hopping is frequent, because the dogma is that need to "move out to move up". Not here! I'm proud of what we do to maintain a competitive environment with constant growth.

If you're willing to put in the time, to think and work harder than you ever have before, to be at a place that combines the most positively challenging aspects of every job you've ever had plus a few unique ones - and be compensated accordingly - this just might be the place for you. If you're looking for a j-o-b, you may have a good run for a little while, but you will hit a ceiling if you're unwilling to stretch yourself.

A typical day involves calling current and prospective customers to try and speak incremental business. This goes hand in hand with providing service to appointments by talking to them before they arrive, educate them on process, inspect their vehicle, close at a price the company can make money on, and facilitate the paperwork process for every deal. Cold-calling, and local marketing does occur on occasion as well. 
-I learned how to be independent in a job setting, being in control of everything in the office. I learned sales techniques (sales numbers were always of utmost importance). Dealing with customers I also feel very comfortable in a customer service setting. I also learned how to prioritize my time and organizational skills. 
- I work alone in an office. As for Co-workers we talk daily on a Microsoft messaging service. I would also see my area manager once every couple weeks. 
-The hardest part of the job was to salvage a decent sales day when customers book appointments and just can not make it in or cancel. 
- The most enjoyable part of my job is meeting new people and really enjoying the whole process I take them through. I would say that along with having a great sales day.

To put it simply they say you work 10-7 but it you want to hit targets and do well ( very achieveable btw) you need to work 9:30-8 most days with no break on bad days. Conference call 9:45 everyday so not 10-7 what so ever.

It is all very debatable how the price comes together from people who lack the motor car knowledge to drive these prices. Meat grinder for customers so fast paced they get hit with a price and have to take it before the next customer arrives if they are under financial duress. Scary really if your conscientious. 

The people above you are so part of the machine it's systemic. They do not care they will not protect you they just push the numbers be warned not for the feint-hearted.

Pay good/rewards good for hitting target/progression non existent. You will be moved place to place and transferring keys for site can be a nightmare. I hope things change for the better for my former colleagues

If you are independent you can learn a lot here due to the responsibilities solely placed upon you. Not complicated job if your time management is good and you're driven.


Having been with this company for over 3 years now and having the opportunity to start a new market for them, I couldn't be happier with my decision to work here. I have met many amazing people within this company that have guided me towards the success I have achieved thus far. The culture here is very honest and straightforward. This is not a job, this is a career. When you put the effort in, it is noticed not just by your immediate management, but all of management, including the CEO. When the CEO himself reaches out to you or talks about your growth and success, it really catches you by surprise, but that is the environment that he and others have created out here. I can't say that for many other places I've worked prior to this company.

Worked there for 8 months. Job is somewhat easy. One just has to read and memorize a script to be successful. Its a little embarrassing working at WBAC. I would never add it to my resume. Its a lot like being a used car salesman, but you make less money. Because its easy to read a script, people are promoted and tend to lose site of how Transferable their Learned Skill Set is. Management seems to be promoted on the Woke System, meaning Inclusivity and Diversity are put before Skill Level or Merit, so it can present difficulties when problems with simple solutions arise. I had to let them go when there was an attempt to Write me up because I was forced to do management's job for them. I was not interested in a management position for this company. I led(in 1st) every Major Statistic, except for Phone Soliciting, in my area. This Foreign Owned Company just announced its plan to Sell WBAC and may be better to work for in 6 Months to a Year, after its complete and a new owner addresses the management deficiencies. 

Before working here, I didn't know there was a career path I would enjoy taking so much. Everyone working for webuyanycar.com across the country is nothing but helpful, hardworking, and genuine.  This is an environment where being your authentic self is supported and welcomed! We get to have fun with our customers and with each other! I couldn't imagine working anywhere else after being a part of this team. The company only promotes within, so the sky is the limit with opportunities... Everyone I come in contact with I tell them this is the best thing that's happened in my life. I wouldn't want to wake up on any given day and do anything else! There is such an overflow of love and support as well. The company invests a lot into its leaders, and weighs promotions heavily to have great people in management. The culture is a perfect balance of understanding employees have real lives, putting the customer first, finding environments for us to flourish in, keeping things professional, inviting new ideas, and bringing out the best in each other.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing at all! They want you in the office early for the morning call everyday that your not getting paid for! Training was a such a hassle for me I couldn't afford it but my job was going over my head! That right there should of been my first sign to get out of there!!! Pay is a struggle to understand. And unless it's busy your not making any decent money at all!! I hated this job! With a passion!

Making cold calls to people that only want to know the value of there car but didn't want a processing of phone calls. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
A boring office setting, where nothing happens. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Bring at the office an hour earlier then needed to be on a group call that only might be 50 secs. Then I made cold calls from a call log. There might be appointments or there isn't at all! They all you too make 30 calls a day. You'd be so lucky to even have 30! This place is so slow your doing nothing all day!!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Fairly easy job if you are familiar with cars,title paperwork and have customer service experience.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not knowing when you will be home. Customers are allowed to book appointments 30 before close and those appointments can take up to 2 hours. Marketing states about an hour but that is unrealistic for most circumstances. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There is certainly an effort on the higher management level to motivate and inspire but it is undermined by the lack of income and long hours. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Lots of unwelcome lead calling and constantly lowering expectations set by our web valuations. Potential 10 hour days.
