Full Job Description

Our client, a successful law firm, is seeking a Paralegal to support legal work related to trusts and estates/probate in Pittsford, New York. This role is well suited for someone with at least two years of experience who can manage documents, coordinate case activity, and assist attorneys with accuracy and discretion. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable handling sensitive client matters in a legal environment.

Role: Paralegal (Probate/Trusts and Estates)
Location: Pittsford, NY (directly outside of Rochester)
Schedule: Hybrid (5 days in office first 90 days, then 3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 (depending on experience)

Responsibilities:
Assisting our attorneys primarily in the probate and administration of decedents’ estates, including administration of trusts.
You will be preparing documents and filing documents with Surrogate’s Court.
You will be meeting with clients both in person and over the telephone, and you will be dealing with courts and various financial institutions on our clients’ behalf.
Assist in all phases of estate administration, including gathering asset information, preparing inventories, and tracking estate expenses.
Communicate with clients to collect necessary documents, provide case updates, and address routine inquiries.
Contact banks, brokerage firms, insurance companies, and other financial institutions to obtain account information, request asset valuations, and process transfers.
Draft correspondence, memoranda, waivers, consents, and other related estate documents.
Maintain organized case files, calendars, and deadlines to ensure timely filings and compliance with court requirements.
Coordinate with accountants, appraisers, and other third-party professionals as needed.
Provide general administrative support to the partner, including document management and scheduling.
Perform legal research related to estate matters as necessary.

Qualifications:
2+ years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in the probate/trusts and estates space.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional client service mindset.
Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Proficiency with legal practice management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
