Job Description

Garden State Food Group is located inside the Holiday Inn Banquet and Conference Center next to Newark Liberty International Airport. We have over 14,000 square feet of meeting space to accommodate social, corporate events, meetings and weddings..

The Catering Sales Manager, manages and coordinates the group sales of the conference centers meeting, social and food & beverage business. The sales would consist of private parties, business meetings, social gatherings and other similar type activity. Position is responsible for the administrative and financial management of contracts, oversight of sales administrative staff and the operational coordination to ensure the successful operation of the events.

General Duties

- Design and organize the sales process and culture.

- Network within the local and regional social and business communities to drive sales.

- Works with Food and Beverage and Chef to determine profitable selling prices for catered events and be involved in the development of menus.

- Plan and consult customers to arrange the successful events.

- Conduct facility tours to prospective customers as part of the sales process.

- Coordinates menu choices and helps customers plan events.

- Creates Banquet Event Orders to ensure maximum utilization of room space, accurate and profitable pricing, detailed room diagrams and appropriate menu choices.

- Coordinates information and leads event planning with production, serving and setup staffs; arranges for final menu, obtains accurate final counts, coordination of other items and entertainment.

- Inspects finished room setup and attends medium, large and important events to ensure accurate arrangements of food, room & services and is present to greet event host.

- Responsible for handling customer complaints and addressing poor feedback reports.

- Monitor and maintain past and potential customer files to develop future business.

- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.

Education & Experience:

At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field.
High school diploma required.
Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
Strong knowledge of service standards, and different service types (French, Russian, etc.).
Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
