Job Description: Backend Python Developer

Company Overview: NextAmp LLC is a digital modernization services company focused on transforming the insurance industry. We help insurance organizations redesign their workflows and build AI-powered, automated systems that improve efficiency and accuracy. Our solutions streamline key operational areas such as claims processing, underwriting, billing, and back-office operations.

Position: Backend Python Developer

Location: USA (Remote)

Experience level: 4+ years

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Backend Python Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Python, hands-on experience building production-grade REST APIs, and a solid understanding of microservices architecture and relational databases.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python.
Build and maintain production-ready REST APIs using FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
Develop, optimize, and manage relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
Design and implement microservices-based architectures for scalable applications.
Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, and product teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices.
Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and optimize application performance.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
Work with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines for deployments.

Required Skills

4+ years of hands-on experience in Python backend development.
Strong expertise in FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
Experience with microservices architecture.
Good understanding of API security, authentication (JWT/OAuth), and best practices.
Familiarity with Git and Agile development methodologies.
Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Exposure AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Knowledge of asynchronous programming in Python.
Experience with Redis, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as PyTest.

Nice to Have

Experience supporting production applications.
Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, etc.).
Experience working in cloud-native environments.

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
