Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team! In this vital role, you will support pediatric dentists in delivering exceptional dental care tailored to young patients. Your energetic approach and compassionate demeanor will help create a positive, comfortable environment for children, ensuring their dental visits are engaging and stress-free. You will be responsible for assisting with clinical procedures, managing patient records, and maintaining a clean and safe dental environment. Duties

Assist pediatric dentists during various procedures including exams, cleanings, X-rays, oral surgeries, and restorative treatments using dental instruments and equipment.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all dental equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management protocols.
Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems, ensuring proper patient positioning for accurate imaging.
Manage patient flow by greeting young patients and their guardians, verifying medical history, updating medical documentation, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations.
Monitor vital signs of pediatric patients before procedures to ensure safety and comfort throughout their visit.
Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while documenting treatment details accurately in electronic medical records.
Support infection control practices by adhering to aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards.
Educate children and guardians on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures to promote lifelong dental health.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on pediatric dentistry or general dentistry preferred.
Proficiency with EMR systems; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable.
Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health care.
Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and dental instrument processing.
Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines and other clinical tools.
Strong understanding of infection prevention management, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques within a healthcare setting.
Ability to communicate effectively with children of all ages and their guardians while maintaining clinical confidentiality at all times.
Certification in CPR or basic life support (BLS) is preferred; ongoing training in pediatric dentistry is a plus.
