PASTRY CHEF

Location: High Point, NC

POSITION SUMMARY

Smitty & Pearl’s is seeking a talented and creative Pastry Chef to develop and execute desserts, pastries, and specialty baked items for our three concepts: Umbo, Siren, and The Jungle Bar.

The ideal candidate combines creativity with strong production skills, organization, consistency, and attention to detail. This position will help create memorable desserts that complement each concept’s unique identity while maintaining high standards for quality, presentation, and efficiency.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute desserts, pastries, breads, and specialty baked items.
Create offerings that reflect the individual style and guest experience of Umbo, Siren, and The Jungle Bar.
Maintain consistency in flavor, appearance, portion size, and presentation.
Prepare daily production lists and ensure all items are completed on schedule.
Collaborate with culinary leadership on seasonal menus, special events, and new menu development.
Produce desserts for regular service, private parties, banquets, and special events.
Maintain proper inventory levels and place orders as needed.
Monitor food costs, product usage, portion control, and waste.
Properly label, date, rotate, and store all products.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary pastry and baking area.
Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and workplace-safety standards.
Train and support culinary team members in pastry preparation and plating procedures.
Assist the culinary team wherever needed during high-volume service.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous professional pastry, baking, or dessert-production experience required.
Culinary or pastry education is preferred but not required.
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry production, and dessert presentation.
Ability to manage multiple production needs and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with the larger culinary team.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume hospitality environment.
Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
