H.T. Lyons, Inc., an HVAC mechanical contractor, is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager on the overall performance of projects by coordinating the flow of information to ensure a successful completion of deliverables. Plan, execute, and deliver projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications. You will be responsible for managing projects in both New York locations: Halfmoon and Wappingers Falls.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare, implement and monitor a detailed construction plan on major jobs.
- Assemble high-quality estimates and proposals on designated projects.
- Effectively purchase or assist in the purchasing of materials, equipment, and subcontracts
- Provide all tools, equipment, and materials necessary to effectively perform the work.
- Develop favorable relationships with customers, and attend job meetings as necessary.
- Influence current customers to award work on a noncompetitive or repeat business basis.
- Design-Build Project Managers – Maintain, or actively pursue a high level of proficiency in HVAC, process piping, plumbing or industrial sheet metal design.
- Continually evaluate designs to improve productivity, profit and customers’ satisfaction.
- Actively participate in a thorough turnover of projects from estimating and take away a thorough understanding of the project.
- Recognize and control construction conditions, such as delays, acceleration, suspension of work, non-availability of the workplace, working out of sequence, failure to provide services, misrepresentation of condition, warranty extensions, and errors in design.
- Complete projects within schedule constraints, and provide accurate forecasts of cost to complete.
- Negotiate changes to subcontracts that are in the best interest of the Company.
- Negotiate profitable time and material rates, and review labor forecasts to complete projects
- Promptly prepare and submit progress billings.
- Perform Major Project Status Reviews with Project Managers. This will include a review of Purchasing Logs, Submittal/Delivery Logs and Change Order Logs, as well as Cash Flow.
- Monitor project conditions to protect tools, equipment, and installed work.
- Maintain or improve estimated gross profit on all assigned jobs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related program
- 1-3 years of experience working as an Assistant Project Manager in the construction industry, HVAC preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Works well under pressure, manages and meets project deadlines
- Financial acumen/ability to comprehend budget structures
- Ability to interact with all levels of management
- Strong client focus with the desire to achieve significant results
- Must be willing to travel to project sites throughout NY.
