Field Service Supervisor

Lead the Next Generation of Connectivity

Microcom is seeking an experienced, hands-on Field Service Supervisor (FSS) to lead and develop a team of up to 12 field technicians delivering advanced satellite, broadband, and communications solutions.

This is more than a traditional field supervisor position. You will help lead Microcom’s expansion into the rapidly growing Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite industry, supporting installations and service for next-generation platforms such as Starlink and Amazon LEO, alongside established satellite television and broadband technologies.

The Field Service Supervisor oversees daily field operations, technician performance, safety, installation quality, fleet readiness, and inventory across multiple offices. The right candidate is a strong leader who enjoys coaching employees, solving problems in the field, and working alongside technicians to get the job done right.

What You’ll Do

Lead and Develop Technicians

Direct, coach, and develop a team of up to 12 field technicians.
Interview and hire potential candidates
Train new employees and provide ongoing technical and professional development.
Work hands-on alongside technicians to improve safety, quality, productivity, and customer service.
Establish clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable.
Mentor technicians working in both local and remote locations.

Deploy Next-Generation Technology

Lead installations and service involving Starlink, Amazon LEO, and other emerging satellite broadband platforms.
Train technicians on new equipment, installation standards, technologies, and service offerings.
Support the installation of satellite antennas, routers, structured cabling, wireless networks, and related communications equipment.
Help Microcom adapt its field operations as satellite and broadband technologies continue to evolve.

Ensure Quality and Safety

Conduct jobsite inspections and audit completed installations and service calls.
Coach technicians on workmanship, customer experience, and compliance with installation standards.
Enforce ladder, fall-protection, electrical, grounding, vehicle, and workplace safety requirements.
Investigate recurring quality problems and implement corrective training.
Ensure technicians arrive prepared with the correct tools, equipment, inventory, and job information.

Manage Field Operations

Coordinate daily workloads, staffing, scheduling, and technician coverage.
Monitor productivity, job completion, repeat service calls, and other performance indicators.
Respond to escalated customer and employee concerns with professionalism and urgency.
Work with dispatch, customer service, warehouse, sales, and management teams to resolve operational issues.
Support operations in remote communities and other Microcom locations as needed.

Oversee Fleet and Inventory

Manage vehicle readiness, maintenance, inspections, and safe-driving expectations.
Monitor technician inventory, tools, equipment, and material usage.
Help prevent inventory loss and ensure accurate equipment accountability.
Confirm that vehicles and field equipment are organized, safe, and ready for deployment.

Experience and Skills

Three to five years of experience supervising five or more field technicians.
Experience with satellite television, broadband, telecommunications, low-voltage systems, or wireless installations preferred.
Familiarity with LEO satellite systems such as Starlink is a strong advantage.
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and field diagnostic equipment.
Knowledge of coaxial and Ethernet cabling, grounding standards, connectors, routers, and basic electrical safety.
Experience using digital signal meters, spectrum analyzers, cable testers, or similar diagnostic tools.
Proficiency with mobile devices, email, spreadsheets, CRM or workforce-management platforms, and vehicle-tracking systems.
Demonstrated ability to audit field installations and identify quality or safety concerns.
Strong coaching, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lead technicians working across multiple locations, including remote offices.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required; technical education or industry certifications are a plus.
Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Ability to successfully complete required background screening and drug testing.
Willingness to travel to remote offices and job locations.
Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and mandatory overtime during peak periods.
Ability to climb ladders up to 30 feet and work safely at various heights.
Ability to lift or move up to 60 pounds.
Ability to work in confined spaces, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions.
