Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Memory Care Activity Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care and engaging activities for residents with memory impairments. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care settings, with a focus on Alzheimer’s and dementia care. This role involves planning and facilitating recreational activities that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being for seniors with memory challenges. The Memory Care Activity Assistant will work closely with residents, families, and staff to create a supportive and enriching environment tailored to individual needs.

Duties

Develop and implement engaging recreational programs tailored to residents’ cognitive and physical abilities, including event planning and activity coordination.
Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs) such as grooming, dressing, and mobility support, ensuring dignity and comfort.
Facilitate social interactions and therapeutic activities that promote memory retention and emotional well-being.
Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure a variety of stimulating experiences throughout the day.
Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a positive community atmosphere.
Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, social workers, and family members to assess resident needs and adapt activities accordingly.
Assist in counseling residents on aging issues and provide support related to dementia care and other cognitive impairments.
Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation in activities and progress notes as required by facility policies.
Support the overall safety of residents during activities by adhering to proper protocols for working with people with disabilities or special needs.

Requirements

Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, or long-term care environments preferred; experience in Alzheimer’s or dementia care is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with seniors experiencing memory issues.
Background in recreational therapy, social work, caregiving, or related fields is advantageous.
Knowledge of assisting with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) and schedule management for residents.
Experience working with people with disabilities or those requiring specialized care such as aging issues counseling is beneficial.
Ability to plan, organize, and execute engaging activities tailored to individual resident needs.
Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in senior care and enhancing quality of life for residents facing memory challenges.
Flexibility to work as part of a team in a dynamic environment dedicated to compassionate senior care.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
