Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Department of Public Safety (Metro) – Los Angeles, CA

Continue your law enforcement career with one of the nation’s largest transit systems.

Metro is seeking Lateral Police Officers to join its new Department of Public Safety. In this sworn, armed role, you will protect life and property, enforce laws, and support safe, reliable transit operations across Los Angeles County. Help us shape our department from the ground up.

What You’ll Earn

Earn up to $142,521 per year

What You’ll Do

Patrol assigned areas to prevent crime and ensure public safety
Respond to emergency calls and assess situations independently
Enforce local, state, and federal laws and Metro policies
Investigate incidents, collect evidence, and prepare reports
Manage conflicts and provide crowd control when needed
Work with other law enforcement agencies and testify in court
Support fare enforcement and compliance efforts
Mentor and assist in training newer officers

What You’ll Need

High school diploma or GED
At least 21 years of age
Valid California Driver’s License
Must pass background, medical, and psychological evaluations
Ability to remain firearm qualified
Current POST Basic Certificate and successful completion of probation with a California law enforcement agency
