Contract Podcast Video & Production Editor Long-Form Video, Multi Camera Podcasts, Reels and Social Content Contract Structure
This is a contract position offered on a per-project, per-job basis. This is not a salaried or full-time employee position. Each assignment will have a defined scope, deadline, deliverables and agreed-upon project rate. All equipment is provided by our set.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Podcast Video and Production Editor who can transform professionally recorded podcast footage into polished long-form episodes and high-performing short-form content.
The ideal contractor must have hands-on experience with RØDE podcast equipment, AI-assisted editing workflows and Descript. You must understand the complete podcast post-production process—not simply how to cut video.
This role includes editing in-person, remote, multicamera, single-camera, video and audio-first podcast formats. The editor will be responsible for creating complete long-form episodes and repurposing the strongest moments into reels, shorts, teasers and promotional content.
Required Podcast Experience
Applicants must have experience editing multiple podcast production formats, including:
- In-person studio podcasts
- Multicamera podcast productions
- Single-camera podcast interviews
- Two-person and multi-guest podcast conversations
- Remote podcasts recorded through Riverside, Zoom, Descript or similar platforms
- Hybrid podcasts with both in-person and remote participants
- Video-first podcasts for YouTube
- Audio-first podcasts adapted into visual video content
- Solo-hosted podcasts
- Interview-style podcasts
- Educational, business and healthcare podcasts
- Branded podcast series
- Livestream or previously recorded podcast content repurposed for on-demand viewing
Required Equipment and Software Experience
Hands-on experience with the following is required:
- RØDE podcast equipment and recording workflows
- RØDECaster systems and multitrack audio files
- RØDE microphones and related podcast audio equipment
- AI-assisted video and audio editing workflows
- Descript for transcription, text-based editing, filler-word removal, captions and clip creation
- Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro
- Adobe After Effects or comparable motion-graphics software
- Riverside, Zoom or comparable remote-recording platforms
- Multicamera synchronization and separately recorded audio
- Audio cleanup, leveling, noise reduction and sound synchronization
Applicants who do not have podcast-specific editing experience, RØDE workflow experience and proficiency with Descript will not be considered.
Responsibilities
- Edit raw podcast recordings into professional long-form video episodes.
- Edit and synchronize multicamera footage with externally recorded or multitrack RØDE audio.
- Work with isolated host and guest audio tracks to create balanced, broadcast-quality sound.
- Edit remote, in-person and hybrid podcast recordings.
- Use Descript and AI-assisted tools to improve editing efficiency while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Remove unnecessary pauses, mistakes, repeated statements, filler words and distractions without making the conversation sound unnatural.
- Identify the strongest educational moments, stories, quotes and sound bites from every episode.
- Repurpose long-form episodes into reels, shorts, teasers and promotional clips.
- Create attention-grabbing openings and hooks for short-form content.
- Add accurate branded captions, titles, lower thirds, transitions, graphics and calls to action.
- Incorporate B-roll, photographs, screenshots, logos and supporting visuals when appropriate.
- Perform professional audio cleanup, mixing, leveling and synchronization.
- Complete color correction and grading across footage from multiple cameras.
- Format content for YouTube, Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube Shorts.
- Create horizontal, vertical and square versions when required.
- Add intros, outros, sponsor messages and branded segments based on project instructions.
- Create YouTube chapter markers, timestamps or suggested clip titles when included in the project scope.
- Follow established brand standards and maintain consistency across every episode.
- Maintain organized project files, raw footage, audio, graphics and final exports.
- Complete revisions accurately and within the agreed-upon turnaround time.
- Review every deliverable for spelling, caption accuracy, synchronization, audio quality and technical issues before submission.
Contractor Requirements
- Proven professional experience editing video podcasts and long-form interview content.
- A strong portfolio showing complete podcast episodes and short-form reels created from long-form content.
- Demonstrated experience working with RØDE podcast equipment and multitrack audio.
- Proficiency in Descript is mandatory.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
- Strong understanding of pacing, storytelling and audience retention.
- Ability to identify compelling moments without being provided with every timestamp.
- Strong understanding of social media editing styles and platform specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization and file management.
- Reliable communication and the ability to meet firm deadlines.
- Ability to follow project briefs, brand guidelines and revision instructions.
- Access to a reliable computer, professional editing software and high-speed internet capable of transferring large video files.
- Ability to work independently as a contract editor on a per-project basis.
Portfolio Requirements
Applicants must submit a portfolio containing:
- At least one complete long-form podcast or interview episode
- Examples of multicamera podcast editing
- Short-form reels or social clips created from long-form content
- Examples demonstrating professional audio cleanup and synchronization
