Position Summary
The Welder’s responsibilities include but are not limited to, welding - welding types (GMAW), (FCAW), (TIG), (SMAW), grinding and cleanup of welded parts, QC and inspection of welded parts, as well as helping with job completion paperwork and getting the finished product ready to ship. The Welder position will also be working closely with Tier II and III Welders.
This role involves Mig and Tig welding (Primarily MIG) per approved WPS’s, verifying material matches the approved drawings, assembling custom metal products in a manufacturing facility.
- Maintaining a high level of workmanship on customer projects.
- Responsibilities include reading blueprints, fitting and welding metal components, operating fabrication equipment, supporting daily production operations, working with QA/QC to ensure quality requirements for customers are met.
- Work in a Safe and professional manner within the fabrication shops.
- Additional duties may include measuring materials, using hand and power tools.
- Work may involve metal fabrication and forming, custom metal assemblies and welding support.
What You’ll Do
- Foster a culture of safety awareness & prioritization.
- Ensure that quality standards are met; champion quality ownership of work center.
- Enforce all company rules and policies; communicate issues or concerns with leadership.
- Hands on operation of equipment.
- Read blueprints and drawings.
- Understand all weld symbols.
- Set up components for Welding Specifications.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards.
- Understand QC procedures and documentation.
- Set up machines.
- Perform daily procedures with supervision and training.
- Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned by the division and/or corporate management team.
Qualifications required:
- Must be a "US Person" per ITAR regulations. Per the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR § 120.62), a U.S. Person is any individual who is a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or a "protected individual".
- High school diploma or GED
- Trade school is Desirable
- Experience in Mil Standard welding is Desirable
- ASME Code IX is Desirable
- AWS Certification Desirable
- GMAW / GTAW / FCAW
- MIG / TIG welding - Stainless / Carbon steel / Aluminum
- Complex blueprint reading
Required Skill and Experience
- 2-5 years of welding experience is preferred.
- Basic understanding of the welding process.
- Prior welding knowledge.
- Demonstrate the aptitude to improve.
- Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
- Productive and reliable.
Education Requirements
- High school Diploma, GED or equivalent is preferred.
- Technical / Vocational Training is a plus.
- AWS Certified Welder Certification a plus.
- Other certifications and experience are a plus.
