As our Business Systems Analyst, you will be the ultimate time protector and rhythm keeper for our IT and Development team. Your core mission is to shield our engineers from distractions, map out optimal development weeks, and systematically destroy blockers before they disrupt the team’s creative and technical flow.

Job Summary

You'll own the workflow architecture and distraction-shielding system for our engineering team. You will look ahead to diagnose and solve potential dependencies, clear technical and cross-functional blockers, and structure development cycles based on a deep understanding of team capacity and business priorities. By leveraging modern AI tools and traditional systems analysis, you will streamline requirements and close the feedback loop between business needs and technical execution, preventing slow handoffs, scope creep, and context-switching.

You'll work closely with both product stakeholders and engineering leadership to ensure our development pipeline is structured to flow smoothly, not just reactively push code.

What You’ll Do

Serve as the primary liaison between Engineering and other departments: Translate business needs into technical requirements and communicating engineering timelines, tradeoffs, and constraints back to stakeholders
Act as the "Time Protector": Guard the engineering team’s calendar and mental bandwidth; manage incoming requests, filter out noise, and structure communication so developers can focus on deep work.
Plan and Optimize Development Sprints: Map out weekly and bi-weekly schedules based strictly on team velocity, capacity, and active blocker mitigation.
Proactively Clear Blockers: Identify, track, and systematically resolve cross-departmental or technical dependencies before they impact an engineer’s active tasks.
Translate & Streamline Requirements: Turn high-level business ideas into crisp, clear technical requirements using AI-assisted drafting, prompting, and structured documentation frameworks to speed up the pre-development phase.
Maintain Workflow Integrity: Ensure the development team maintains a steady, predictable work rhythm; audit current project management tools (Jira/Asana/Linear) to eliminate administrative drag for developers.
Deliver Velocity Diagnostics: Build and maintain simple tracking dashboards to analyze sprint health, surface recurring bottlenecks, and present actionable process improvements, not just numbers.

What We're Looking For

Core Experience: 3–5 years as a Business Systems Analyst, Scrum Master, or Technical Project Manager working directly within an IT/software development environment.
Hands-on AI Proficiency: Proven experience integrating AI into daily workflows (e.g., advanced prompting for requirement generation, relevant AI coursework, or certifications) to accelerate documentation and data analysis.
Blocker-Removal Expertise: Proven track record of managing cross-functional dependencies, negotiating timelines, and successfully clearing operational hurdles for technical teams.
Agile & Scrum Mastery: Deep familiarity with project management architectures, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and capacity forecasting.
Analytical Problem-Solving: Strong ability to form hypotheses about workflow inefficiencies, design process experiments, and leverage data to optimize team velocity.
Proactive Communication: Strategic, solutions-oriented, and protective of team bandwidth; skilled at surfacing bottleneck risks before they stall progress.
Technical Stack: Proficiency or hands-on familiarity with Shopify Liquid, Python (FastAPI framework), React, TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
Domain Experience: Experience working in a fast-paced DTC, E-commerce, or CPG startup environment.
Technical Aptitude: Background in technology or the ability to read code and understand high-level system architecture.
Relevant Certifications: Advanced credentials in Agile/Scrum (e.g., CSM, PMI-ACP) or specialized Systems Analysis.

Time Commitment

Part-time: 20 hours per week
Remote: US Central Time Work Hours
